OUT OF CHARACTER

NAME: Lisa
EMAIL / AIM: LISAAAABBY
CHARACTER'S JOURNAL: _greatergood
BASICS

FULL NAME: Greta Regalia Grindelwald.
NICKNAME: Greta has no use for official nicknames.
AGE / BIRTHDATE: 18 / April 4th, 1882.
BLOOD: Pure.
SEXUALITY: She has no particular attraction to either sex, though she is capable of using the attractions of others to a certain extend, depending on the advantage or gain for her.
MARITAL STATUS: Technically single with no intentions of changing things, at least as far as the category is concerned, but it's complicated.

OCCUPATION: Finding the Deathly Hallows; building an army; taking over.
SCHOOL / YEARS: Durmstrang Institute, 1893 - 1898
SCHOOL ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Greta did not focus her time on receiving awards or achievements; however, her experimentations on other students during her time at Durmstrang had her expelled at age 16, despite the school's tolerance and support of Dark Arts.
APPEARANCE

APPEARANCE: Greta is the perfect example of an Aryan. Her skin is so fair one might think she never stepped outside, though a bit of blush sometimes adds a good color to her cheeks. Light blonde hair down to her shoulders matches those bright blue eyes just as well. When she's in the mood, she might spring for a touch of red lipstick, though that and the blush is about it as far as makeup goes and she never had a liking for jewelry. She's about 5'9, not too tall, but taller than most girls, and rather thin. Her clothing usually consists of a pleasant dress.

The major note of Greta is her expressions. When she's not trying to smile and make others comfortable, her face results in something of a constant glare. Alba knows it doesn't mean she's necessarily angry about something, but it has often deterred others from being in her presence. The death glare is only a step beyond but isn't very infrequent. No, she definitely enjoys scaring others with her looks alone.

As Greta grew up in Hungary, English is not her first language. While she does know the language well, she speaks with an obvious eastern European accent. Because it's her second language, and since she comes from such a different time, she lacks the modern colloquialisms, diction, slang, and usually writes and speaks as properly as possible. It's more natural for her, though it gives her an added air of condescension.

PLAYED BY: Teresa Palmer.
PERSONALITY

PERSONALITY: Greta Grindelwald is known as being the second-most powerful dark witch of all times, only behind Toma Riddle (something she'll hardly comprehend by the time it really matters). And she didn't get that title for nothing. Her expertise in spell casting, as well as a brilliant mind, are more or less equal to that of Alba Dumbledore. She could have done something great, but her penchant for the rules and overall sadistic ways led her down a very different path.

Unless someone obviously has no worth to their name, Greta will most likely be nice to them. She's cunning enough to act nice just to get her way. Take Alba, the person she manipulated most, but certainly not the first, and probably not the last. The better someone is, the more Greta will try to befriend them in order to control their talents for her side. She's manipulative, deceptive and mysterious. She likes to put up a good front and get as much information from someone as possible.

Greta is very old fashioned. As she grew up in the end of the 19th century, she's used to a certain style of manners and conducting of oneself. She expects to be courted, even if she has no interest in anyone. This also means she's modest - excluding her real talents - and subtle with everything. Society matters a lot to her as she hasn't gained enough power and support to show her true beliefs in public.

But if she doesn't like you, well, things can be terribly different. Not only does she not care for a human life, Greta's curiosity has moved her to actually play with it. Don't forget how smart she is; the experiments she performed at Durmstrang all had to do with dark magic, the kind even that school wouldn't put up with.

Proud, arrogant, selfish, ambitious, Greta puts her wants above those of anyone else. She is, of course, a complete purist that believes in a world where witches rule over muggles. She believes in this line of thinking without fail or even the possibility of changing her mind. One might even call her stubborn.

On the good side, Greta is an excellent leader. She's innovative, adventurous, and very logical about everything she does. A leader doesn't come without charisma and she can charm the pants off anyone she wants, metaphorically speaking, of course, because she wouldn't actually want to charm anyone's pants off. They can keep their private bits covered, thank you.

But obviously she has that dark side that isn't too deep down. In fact, it's usually on the surface for anyone to see. She has a temper at times - she's never been good at being as calm as someone like Alba. For the most part, she also has very few actual feelings. If she did, she might not go along killing tons of people without a second thought.

Aries information.

SPECIAL ABILITIES / TALENTS: "Grindelwald showed herself quite as precociously brilliant as Dumbledore."
HISTORY

FAMILY:

Leopold Grindelwald: Father.

Regalia Grindelwald: Mother.

[Bathilda] Bagshot: Uncle in [Godric's] Hollow whom she stayed with the summer following her expulsion.

HISTORY: Greta was born in a small town in Hungary, the one and only child of her parents. They were both magical, but they rarely spoke of how or why, and showed more interest in Greta not being a witch. Her parents had assimilated into Muggle culture, blended in well enough that no one even suspected them of "being different". Whenever Greta asked questions, they avoided answering or simply told her to be quiet. Years taught her that they were more afraid than anything else. And when Greta realized her own abilities, she never said anything to her parents, thinking that everything would be better that way.

Unfortunately she could not hide the letter from Durmstrang, inviting her to join them in the Fall once she was of age. Despite their worries, the Grindelwald's allowed her to go; it was either the best or worst decision they ever made.

Greta's skill with magic was immediately obvious. She wasn't just talented, though, she was great. In fact, her success was almost unparalleled. Professors loved her because she was so good, and no one minded when she took stacks of books from the library, some of them only meant for older students. Greta expressed an affinity with the Dark Arts early on, studying as much as possible outside of class because it was more interesting than anything else they were teaching.

In the midst of her reading, she came across the story of the Deathly Hallows, told as nothing more than a child's tale. There was the Elder Wand, the Ressurection Stone, and the Cloak of Invisibility. Whoever possessed all three would be unbeatable. They could rule with endless power. Perhaps it was that thought which infected Greta's mind so much that she couldn't help but believe they had to be real. And she had to get her hands on them, one way or another.

While some students played Quidditch or joined clubs, Greta began her own experiments. They started out small. Spells that she made up, tested on anything she could find. But as the years went by, the 'experiments' became worse. Greta was using other students as test subjects and the once-innocent spells had grown into sadistic ones, meant to cause great harm. When several students she was using almost died, Durmstrang decided she could no longer attend and expelled her without question. Before she was gone, she left the symbol of the Deathly Hallows etched onto the walls of Durmstrang for every student that came after her to see; eventually they would recognize it and associate it with her, once she had the unyielding power.

Out of school and with only one plan in mind, Greta began researching the Deathly Hallows which led her to [Godric's] Hollow. There was the grave of Ignatius Peverell, a supposed owner of one of the Hallows. It also happened to be the very neighborhood that her uncle, [Bathilda] Bagshot, lived. So Greta went for a visit.

There she met Alba Dumbledore, a witch as brilliant as herself. Alba was a genuis who possessed great skill with a wand and so of course they got along right away. They spent hours talking about their abilities, discussing magic, theories and philosophies on the world as a whole. Greta was subtle to begin with but eventually she started to express how she really felt. She despised muggles whole-heartedly. They were lesser beings undeserving of even their very lives. But Greta wanted power over them. She dreamed of a world where witches and wizards no longer had to hide among muggles, not when they were obviously better and far more powerful. She dreamed of domination. Of ruling.

Alba wasn't entirely on board when Greta first brought these thoughts up. The other witch was far nicer, but Greta could see the cracks. When Alba showed an interest in Greta - beyond that of friendship - it was the perfect opportunity to gain her trust. If Alba wasn't on her side, there would be a good chance that she might lose the battle; but with Alba, they would be unstoppable. And together they would surely be able to find the Deathly Hallows that would ensure a sweeping success.

So Greta did what she had to. She reciprocated the interests, the feelings, and willingly closened their relationship. It wasn't hard, mind you, because they were great friends and Alba was an attractive intellectual. And Greta phrased it in a way that not even Alba could argue with. This was for the greater good. The greater good of them, of humanity, of the wizarding community. Alba wanted to help people, so why not help the entire world?

The two created vast plans that summer and everything would have been fine if it weren't for [Aberforth], Alba's younger sister. She found out about their plans, how they were going to take [Ariana] with them. [Aberforth] thought it was a terrible idea, that [Ariana] would not get the required assistance he needed despite Greta's insistence that this was exactly what [Ariana] needed. If their plans succeeded, he would no longer have to be kept hidden. But [Aberforth] was stubborn and drew his wand. Greta was faster, though, and sent a cruciatus curse his way - only for Alba to step in.

The resulting three-way duel ended abruptly when [Ariana] was hit with one curse or another. He died then and there, leaving the Dumbledores distraught. Alba broke off everything; there was no way that Greta could stay there, not with her record at Durmstrang. She fled the country, went back into Hungary on her own to continue her research of the Deathly Hallows.

Eventually she found a trail that led to [Gregorovitch], a wand maker, who supposedly had the Elder Wand. That was her first step. It wasn't hard to get in and stun the wand maker, meaning that the Elder Wand officially belonged to Greta. She had already been trying to gather followers, something that would have been easier with the Wand in her hand. But as soon as she left the shop, she ended up in the compound. Thinking someone caught her before she could do anything, she initially turned on the scientists.
WORLD

WHAT WORLD ARE THEY FROM? Genderswap!
WHAT YEAR ARE THEY FROM? 1899.
HOW DOES THEIR WORLD DIFFER? Girls are boys, boys are girls.
HOW DOES THIS CHANGE THEM? Except for the organs, both inside and out, not at all.
OTHER STUFF

THREE RANDOM FACTS
1. Greta has a fondness for classical music, even the kind produced by muggles. While she will never admit to a muggle creating anything of worth, her favorite song is Moonlight Sonata by Beethoven, though almost no one is aware of that.
2. Whether or not she's lying, Greta has a way of speaking with great conviction. Everything that comes out of her mouth sounds like absolute truth because she believes in everything she says one-hundred-percent. It's almost charismatic, but that's what makes a good leader, after all.
3. She also happens to like sunflowers and ice cream.

WHAT ITEMS / OBJECTS OF NOTE DID YOUR CHARACTER HAVE ON THEM WHEN TAKEN? Her clothes (a nice dress and a long, thick jacket), and the Elder Wand, her wand.

DO YOU HAVE ANY PLOT IDEAS / WORLDS YOU'D LIKE TO SEE IN PLAY? Optional!

ANYTHING ELSE? NOTES? THOUGHTS? I love you.
