    History

Born and raised in Texas, Atticus was born into a blue-collar family who worked hard for every bit of scratch they had. His father owned a mechanic shop and from the time Tic could hold a wrench he was helping out, learning how things worked. He immediately proved a savant with his hands, able to work on most mechanical things and figure out what was wrong with them even if he'd never worked on that specific issue before, and by the time he was in high school he was the lead mechanic at his daddy's shop, which led to him dropping out of school to focus on the family business full-time. His mother wasn't around much, working two jobs to keep up with bills, and he had no siblings so most of his time was spent with his father or on his own. While Arlo Beauregarde loved his son and tried to guide him, he was also molding the boy into a spitting image of himself.

Arlo was a 'man's man', full of machismo and spitfire. He was a Wolf, and an Alpha who had fallen when someone new had come into the territory and fought him for status in his pack. Disgraced rather than taking a knee, he had angrily retreated into solitude, a bitter lone Wolf who lived a lowbrow life. His wife Salina, once a stunning Fae beauty and one of the most enchanting songbirds in Austin, had been reduced to the beautiful waitress and seamstress who had abandoned any pretense of her own heritage or magic in order to keep her family together. Salina loved Arlo, despite his faults, and Arlo's bitterness and anger rubbed off on his son more than Salina's compassion could balance out. The result was Atticus, a volatile and temperamental child with a streak of pride six miles wide. He had a big mouth but bigger fists to back it up. When he reached puberty he was already six foot tall and still growing, and the first time he shifted his father was surprised to see a massive brown grizzly bear manifest. Atticus only kept growing, reaching his full adult height of 6'5" and nearly 300 pounds of almost solid muscle. Between the hard labor he engaged in and his desire to be the biggest and the best, he spent plenty of time working on those muscles and putting them to good use.

His good looks, bold personality and never-say-die attitude led to Atticus becoming very popular in certain circles, and he drew hungry eyes everywhere he went. He took this as validation, and ran with it. His ego grew with time, as did his ambition. Angered on behalf of his disgraced father, Atticus decided to become the most intimidating Alpha in the region, wolf or otherwise. He devoted effort into tearing apart pack heirarchies and humiliating or besting anyone who would try to step up to him; whether it was putting someone in the hospital for assault or just sabotaging their mating partnership, he did it without remorse. He fathered multiple children during ruts but never stuck around long enough to see how they turned out, and refused to have any part in raising them. He isn't truly sure how many kids he has, or how they've shaped up as they grew, and has no contact with their mothers or fathers.

When Atticus was twenty-five, his father relocated them to New Orleans. Austin had become a bad place to be anything but human, and a city that once embraced its weirder residents was now openly hostile. New Orleans seemed a better climate, and the family moved. Arlo and Atticus went halfsies on a new shop, a larger space for them to work on motors together and continue the Beauregarde legacy. Salina couldn't handle the toxicity in the house anymore, despite her best efforts, and she left shortly after the move, leaving only a note. Despite his own attempts to look tough and unbothered, it wounded Atticus greatly, and he has never quite gotten over the abandonment of his mother, the one woman who had never given up on him until that point. He stayed in New Orleans, causing trouble and building a reputation for himself there, until one night it reached a crescendo. Atticus had challenged a local Alpha in a drunken fit of bravado and the fight had not gone well. Things had gotten very much out of hand, and while no one who wasn't there that night knows the exact details, Atticus left town for several years. He kept in close contact with Arlo, calling and writing often, but he never visited. As happens when time moves on, people began to forget about Atticus altogether.

And then, in April of 2022, the prodigal son returned.
