personality
QUIRKS: Always carries a push pin with her LIKES: Comfort food of any kind, calm people DISLIKES: Large groups of people
Gry is very much a victim of her emotions. Or rather, she's a victim of other people's emotions. Where her siblings are gifted with manipulation of various elements, she – the middle child – was gifted with the ability to feel what the people around her are feeling. As she's grown older, she's learned to control it, to the point where her mood doesn't change significantly when faced with another person, however, some people just feel extremely and against them – or if she's tired – their mood and feelings becomes her mood and feelings. To this day, she's still never quite sure if what she's feeling is truly her own, except when it's something physical. She knows that the pain she feels when she pricks her finger with her push pin is her own, she knows that the sweetness she smells when she's making kanelbullar is her, and the satisfaction she feels when she feels when she cooks and eats her comfort foods? Yeah, that's her own, too.
Gry is an extremely private person. She likes people alright, but always knowing how they feel when she's with them has made her careful not to share much if anything with anybody unless she knows that they truly care. Her privacy extends to other people as well; she knows when people are in love – usually before they do – or if they are faking a façade for whatever reason, and it's just not her place to tell. Why? Because all her life, she's had other people's emotions filling her, and getting to know her own feelings about pretty much anything is a luxury she's never had… she's not about to do that to anybody else.
Still, she cares about people and she loves her family dearly. Sometimes she just needs a break or more from them.
appearance
HEIGHT: 5'8'' WEIGHT: 130 lbs HAIR: Light brown EYES: Blue
Like Kennett, Gry takes after the tall-and-blue-eyed-with-wildfire-metabolism side of the family. She likes to work out, not just to counter all the food she eats, but also to calm her mind and relate to her own feelings and sensations.
In private, she dresses quite casually, however in public, she tends to go for the more conservative look, usually donning her glasses and leaving her contacts at home.

history
Gry was born the third of five siblings and the first of two sisters. She was 6 when the family relocated to New York, and she hated it. She had just gotten comfortable with the change from dagis (kindergarten) to förskoleklass (pre-school), when one day their home was packed up, they spent an eternity travelling and they were placed in a house that was nowhere near as cozy as home and put in a school where they all spoke a language she didn't understand. She didn't understand what they were saying, but she could feel their initial curiosity about her, a curiosity that then turned into confusion and later on contempt at the fact that she couldn't answer any of their questions. At first, she tried, but the few words she had been taught, wasn't nearly enough and in most cases didn't even make sense. So she stopped trying, stopped talking, and started keeping to herself.
That tactic worked at home, too. Well, more or less. Though it didn't seem like it, her siblings were struggling as well, to varying degrees, and Gry felt every bit of it without knowing how to take on that insecurity. Slowly, however, she got accustomed to the new house, and even slower the new tastes of things, and school got… marginally easier. She understood what was being taught, but she only barely scraped by when it came to tests, since being around nervous teenagers wasn't at all conducive for her concentration.
How she got through puberty, is anyone's guess, but it probably had to do with a lot of patience from the people around her, hours spent in locked in her room writing letters and emails to the family back in Sweden, and keeping quiet about giving into the moods she 'collected' from the teenaged boys around her. Nevertheless, she got through it, even managed to get through high school. Despite their objections, her parents finally agreed that college probably wouldn't be the wisest decision for her, not at this point at least, but she needed to get a job.
By some luck, she found employment in a local delicatessen, and it was there she discovered the joys of comfort food. What first started out as blogging about her favourites, turned into a book deal, and her first book – about Scandinavian comfort food – was a slow seller, though enough for the publisher to sign her for four more books.
When Izzy left for college, Gry started travelling to gather information and inspiration for her books, though she kept in relatively close contact with her family. It didn't come as much of a surprise when Kennett suddenly took off, though it was quite a shock that he had cut his connection so completely in that he kept in touch, but she didn't know where he was or what he was doing. She had never been particularly close with him, but he was family and she preferred to at least have some inkling of where her family was as much as possible. Supposedly he was 'with the carnival', but though she didn't know how much to put into that, she began visiting the carnivals whenever she came near one. Just in case.
