Personal History:Honey was born Hannah to the most unusual of people, a city farmer. The business had been born generations earlier, as a stubborn man, Hannah's great grandfather, Hank had clung to his scrap of farmland on the very edge of Chicago, which was soon surrounded by city. Time passed and changed as time will and by the time the farmland reached Hannah's mother Iris, four years before Hannah's birth the family were almost bankrupt.
It was Iris who turned things around, looking for a way to evolve the farm back into a profitable and useful business. She opened it to schools and foster homes, letting kids learn how to grow things and take care of things. It was a hugely successful venture, backed by charities and government money as well as payments from schools and organisations who visited. It was through the farm that Iris met Trinidad born social worker James Norman, whose family had emigrated to America when he was was five. They fell in love and married within a year of initially meeting.
A year later their daughter Hannah, was born, and grew up surrounded by animals, crops and an ever changing cast of faces, who taught Hannah many tricks of the trade that came with growing up in a harsher world than they did. Hannah grew up never alone and taught from an early age not to judge anyone by anything but the choices they made. Thus Hannah grew up with her mother's philosophy that everyone is born not equal, as that is society's way, but everyone has an equal right to respect and to be given the chance to live up to their full potential. Honey has taken that through her whole life.
From the age of three Hannah carried the name Honey, given to her by her paternal grandfather. She clings to it as a reminder of her family and her past. Her closest childhood friend was a foster kid called Andrew Sidman, or Siddy, who eventually ended up living with the Norman family after being removed from the sort of parents who viewed their child as a commodity. He taught Honey everything that helped her to survive the aftermath of the Virus. How to pick locks and hotwire cars and most importantly, how to brew moonshine, from what was lying around naturally and could be scrounged without people on the farm paying too much attention.
However, the two of them were very different, Siddy showing himself to be a gifted mechanic as they aged while Honey was more acedemic and ended up at Colorado State university, studying animal sciences, with the intention of returning home to take her place running the farm. There was an unspoken agreement that Siddy would stand at her side and their relationship remained strong until the very last time they spoke.
Honey came to be in Sundance after fleeing the rot of the university and trying to head to the safety of fewer people. On discovering that she was not the only one to survive she chose to settle with the Twin Feathers, and return to what she knew, cultivating plants and animals and most importantly working on a moonshine that wouldn't strip your throat. She has mostly remained quiet, often away trading for seeds and produce, growing and tending crops, not wanting to step on any toes, but now, with the war opening up the market, she feels like it's time for 'Siddy's Shine' as she has named it in her head, to take centre stage
