BASICS
POWERS&SKILLS
Skills:X Psychometry: Helena inherited the ability of pyschometry from her father. She can "see" visions inspired through touch of an object. Often these visions often seem a bit jumbled and take some time to work through. For simple visions Helena is able to analyze them initially on the spot. However, it takes some time, a good night's sleep, and calm thinking to process the visions fully and receive a clearer reading. Note: No visions of other characters within the game, or visions that would affect game-wide plot, will be done without the consent of other players or the mods. X Logical: Helena tends to be cautious. She thinks through things, and then she acts. She prefers to think through every possible scenario, and weigh out each option. She does her best to think with her head, and not let her emotions control her. Often this means she strives for the best possible understanding of situations (including the best possible action for what she sees in her visions). X Quiet/Good Listener: Although she does speak (just you try to stop her), Helena can be rather quiet. She does not get easily excited, nor is she very loud. Yet, even though she tends to be on the quieter side, this doesn't mean she isn't paying attention to you. Rather, she's an incredible listener. She's very attentive and takes in everything she observes. Weaknesses: X Control: Even though she has this ability to have visions when touching an object, she has only minimal control over it. Sometimes she'll touch an object without the intention of receiving a vision, and instead finds herself hit head-on with a powerful mess of images and sounds. Sometimes the feelings these visions inspires roots itself within her, and overwhelms Helena. Although she tries to not let on to anyone, she has anxiety over this, and wishes she could train more to get a better handle on it. It is this anxiety that drives her to be so logical and emotionally level. X Insecurity: It could be drawn from the lack of faith in herself, or the negative comments she's had thrown at her in the past. But Helena has very low self esteem. She struggles with believing positive comments offered her. She often believes she isn't worth it, and that if she doesn't stay in complete control of herself and actions, she'll end up hurting someone. Even though she thinks she gets in the way more often than not, she still longs for a family/community/love in her life. But, ultimately, she tends to find herself falling into the background or shying away from putting herself out there. X Lack of Fighting Skills: Helena is very book smart. She pursued education like it was her job, and excelled. However, because she has been so focused on books and learning more about her ability, she has very little knowledge of fighting styles. She does know how to make a fist, and she can at least handle her own for a little bit if she had to. But she isn't much of a fighter, and would surely fail if expected to fight her way out of a situation, rather than talk her way out. OUT OF CHARACTER

PERSONALITY
Despite being the youngest of the three children, Helena doesn't act like your typical younger brat. She doesn't need to be coddled or babied, and she has no problem telling you so. She tends to be incredibly logical and level-headed. Helena has a strong moral compass that always points due north. She prefers to calmly thinks things through, rather than dive right into the action. However, this isn't to say that she doesn't have her moments. If something becomes too stressful for Helena, and if she discovers that she cannot find a logical path through, she often can become overwhelmed. Sometimes this need to control herself and the things that happen around her can drive Helena to desperate acts. Yet, even though Helena tends to see the world as a big puzzle that she needs to solve, it doesn't mean she is inherently a cold bitch. Despite popular belief, Helena does have a heart and often gets incredibly lonely. Since her parents died, and distance between her older blood sibling and her grew over the years, Helena has developed a habit of talking to herself and the walls. She can get a bit obsessive when she is working, often pushing herself to the point of forgetting to eat meals and keeping strange sleeping habits. She hates silence and she hates being alone. She can't stand going a day without talking to something, anything. HISTORY
Helena was a pleasant surprise to a caring, loving mother and a head-strong father. Her mother was a witch, while her father was a gifted human. Although neither expected to have another child so soon after their first, they still welcomed Helena into their lives. For her mother, Suza, Helena was the third child. In her early years she didn't know her eldest brother, Maleko, very well. But when he did begin to visit, Helena was very interested in knowing who he was. Maleko represented a part of her mother's life that Helena couldn't know or possibly understand in her young age. Even though the man always seemed to have something weighing on him, Helena, in her quiet curious way, would try to figure him out. But as the man came and went from her life, she only gathered a little information here or there.Suza was a healer. With a tender heart she went out of her way to always take care of those in need. But even though she was indeed similar in looks to her mother, Helena's did not show any signs of magic within her. In fact, as Helena grew, there was a wonder whether or not Helena would be a witch or gifted human at all. But sure enough, in time, Helena took after her father, and inherited the ability of psychometry. Like her father, Helena learned through the touch of objects, she would have visions of the future. This started slow, but in time it grew. It became clearer that the visions she had when touching objects would come to her in batches that she had to interpret. Only with time and calm emotions could she begin to see the visions clearer. Her father began to train her, proud of the opportunity to have a daughter who could take after him. He wanted to help her become stronger to deliberately choose when she will see the visions. Unfortunately, he would die before she could complete her training. But even though her abilities reflected her father's, personality-wise, Helena took after her mother. She is caring, and often jumped at the chance to help others. She began to accompany her mother to the hospital. While her mother taught her basics of healing that any human can begin to learn to understand, Helena primarily accompanied her mother to offer comfort to the patients with her visions. However, it would be her love that would get the best of Helena. When she was fifteen, Helena fell hard for a boy at school. He was a normal human, and as such her father didn't approve. But the fact that she didn't have his approval made it all that more exciting. Yet it wouldn't be her love for her boyfriend that would be her downfall, but rather her love for her father. Helena was practicing when she was given a vision that terrified her. She saw flames, pain...death. As like most of her visions, the future wasn't cut and dry. She didn't tell anyone at first. Instead, she wanted to try to figure out the cause of the fire for herself. What she discovered, was almost as shocking as the vision she had been given. Her father was in debt. He used his ability to feed his addiction to gambling. He had managed to hide it, but his debt to the club owner was heavy. He tried to pay back what he could with his own ability in servitude, but it wasn't enough. When Helena confronted her father about it, he assured her that he could take care of it. It wasn't that Helena didn't trust her father, but that she wanted to help. She went behind her father's back and offered her own ability in assistance to fast-tracking payment of her father's debt. It was to be two for the price of one. She isn't proud of the things she had been asked to do. Helena can at least say she never killed anyone, but she did cheat many innocent people, blackmailed others, and stole. It was all in an effort to protect her family. Although the plan seemed to work at first, but failed when Helena failed to follow through on a deal. As she was still learning to control when she received visions, she found on one job she was too scared to read any visions. She tried, it seemed promising, but her fear and self-doubt got the better of her, and so she failed. As punishment, her boyfriend suffered. He was found dead in an alley the next morning. The official report states that he was killed due to a mugging gone wrong. Although she can't prove it, she knows it had to be the owner. Helena still blames herself for his death. Already rather quiet, Helena pulled further into herself. Worried, her father tried to figure out what was wrong. When he found out that his daughter had been acting on his behalf, he was furious. The two got into a fight and he left to try to negotiate a way to get his daughter out of the debt. That fight was the last conversation Helena had with her father. And despite his mistakes, she still loves him to this day. But whatever he said to the owner, he failed. In the middle of the night Helena woke up to the sound of screams from her brother in the next room over. Their house was on fire. Helena struggled to help her family escape. She managed to pry open the door of her brother's room, and get them out, but she suffered burns in the process. Although in pain, Helena tried to also save her parents. She struggled to get to them as the smoke choked her, when Maleko showed up. Ignoring her protests, he managed to get Helena and her brother out of the burning house. Maleko had to practically pick Helena up and toss her out onto the lawn to get her to leave. But even though she and her brother were saved, her parents didn't make it. Angry, Helena cried and yelled at Maleko, claiming she could have helped. Helena and her brother were taken to an aunt. For the next year, Helena tried to avoid her ability. The lack of an outlet made her sick, and her brother tried to help her. She couldn't tell him the cause of the fire, she couldn't explain why the loss of her boyfriend weighed on her so much, and she didn't understand why Maleko left again. Her inability to confront her emotions and seek solace in her brother, resulted in the siblings growing apart. As the pain grew within her, one day she finally lost it and ran away. Helena tried to live a normal life on her own. She opened her own new age shop, selling herbs and talismans in memory of her mother, and sometimes did readings of objects for people. She had managed to make a life for herself, one that was quiet and calm. But Helena wasn't never completely content with quiet. Helena decided she wanted to find Maleko. She had heard that the owner that had killed her parents had been tracked down and killed. Although she didn't know the details, Helena had a feeling it had been done in an effort to avenge the loss. Too many years had passed. It was time for her to know more about her mother's life before her father, as well as know more about her half-brother. Helena enlisted the help from a witch she sold herbs to, to make her a locater spell to try to find Maleko, but it didn't direct her to anywhere she expected him to be. It had been so simple. Helena should've seen that. But at the time, all she cared about was finding Maleko. She didn't think she would be gone very long. But the circus she found her brother in proved to have different plans for her. |
