ABILITIES: Is it really possible to know the abilities of something that's been around as long as time? It's debatable. Definitively, however, the Fate is capable of several things. Atropos is The Inevitable, charged with cutting the threads of life when they have been exhausted. Because of this, she can see the lifespans of those around her and touch life's threads should she choose. A life's thread cannot be severed before its due time, but the sensation of it being touched brings pain to the victim. The thread tells much, and so she also knows names, species and ages of all. She can see the circumstances of someone's death as well, but does not often share the information. On a broader level, she and her sisters exist to ensure that all lives unfold as they should. Because, quite simply, you cannot cross fate. All in all, her powers when bound in a mortal form are passive. But they hold their own weight.

So fascinating when mortals come face to face with Fate.
personality
HOBBIES: People-watching, listening to music of various eras, playing with her cat, playing chess
LIKES: Smoking, decadent desserts, the despair of humans, comfortable silence, the night sky
DISLIKES: Overly talkative people, dogs, heavy perfumes, bitter alcohol
Moira Evansby was, quite frankly, a mouse of a woman. Soft-spoken and rather mild-mannered, she was content to live her life among the book stacks of her shop. Never one for confrontation and never one to venture from her comfort zone, she was what most would consider a sad excuse for a human being. The most exciting thing that ever happened to her was her death, matched with her possession.

Atropos is nothing like the woman whose body she uses as a shell, save for in passivity. Her role in her immortal life is, at its simplest, to observe. For this reason, she truly reigns in silence. Sharp eyes will watch you, dissecting who and what you are, where you have been and where you are going. She rather enjoys that this unnerves people, finding amusement in it more often than not. Moira's lips can now often been seen curving up into a smirk or shaping around amused laughter at making someone squirm this way.

She is usually candid in the way that she speaks, because its simpler to say it and be done with it. She only talks in circles when it comes to information she really should not share. Mortals are endlessly fragile that way, and it would not do to upset the balance. Regular day-to-day, things, however, Moira discusses with a breezy wit. The things that people focus upon seem silly much of the time, but it passes the time.

Due to her nature of observation and the knowledge she has, nothing fazes her. You can speak of terrible death, war and carnage, and she will not even bat an eyelash. To her, it is all a part of the thread of life. It has been spun, so it shall be. For this reason, she is not one to go to for sympathy or understanding in this regard. Even with all of her years in existence, it is difficult for Atropos to feign these feelings.

Endless time has created an insatiable mind. Though she knows much, she always wishes to know more. This is something that she and her host have in common, apparently. Having inherited the shop and changed the subjects of the tomes, it is no foreign sight to see her pouring over texts while petting the loyal Siamese who stalks the shop.
appearance
HEIGHT: 5'7.5"
WEIGHT: 161 lbs
HAIR: Red
EYES: Blue
Moira Evansby is what most would call conventionally attractive. Beautiful. Not too tall, but just tall enough, she stands at 5'7.5". A buxom figure is clearly accented with a full bust and rounded hips. Her hair is red, and is usually worn in styles that give a nod to decades past. With a wardrobe that also draws from past trends and styles, she's what could be considered a 60s dream. Sexy, but ladylike.
history
The story of Moira Evansby is not at all a glamorous one. Her mother, Emmaline, passed away giving birth to her. And so Moira was left in the care of her father. He was a passive man by nature, preferring life among the bookcases of his store to the more exciting lots in life. The young girl grew up without that maternal guidance in her life, and it more than proved to be a bit detrimental to her development.

Mousy Moira Evansby, dumb and quiet as can be!

She kept to herself more than anything, reading books in order to escape to a world that wasn't full of ridicule and sadness. The mousy girl grew into a timid and unremarkable woman. She was always on the outskirts, just trying to make her way without rocking the boat.

It's arguable that the most exciting thing to happen to Moira Evansby was her death. Tragic, really. The poor woman was just locking up her store one night. As she tucked the cash deposit into her handbag (the drawer on the register was broken, you see), she didn't notice that she wasn't alone. What was intended just to be a mugging went wrong. The thieves misinterpreted apprehension and a fearful lack of action as a struggle. A knife broke skin, money was stolen and mousy Moira Evansby was left for dead on the New Orleans street.

That was when Fate found her.

There are powers that have always existed in this world. And she was one of them.

The Fate was watching, having been forced sent to observe the goings-on in New Orleans surrounding the Beacon. The shrouded figure loomed over the dying woman, weighing the choice. And as her finger curled around the fading thread of life, the decision was made. Atropos cut the thread. And as the light finally faded from Moira's eyes, the Fate wound her own thread around the mortal that would be her guise.

Moira Evansby walked into her bookstore the next day as an entirely different woman. The tomes on her shelves began to change as well, and somehow it matched the very distinct aura surrounding her.

Funny what happens when you cross fate.
