Missy stands tall at 5’10” and was never one of those girls who slouched to hide her height despite being as tall as (if not taller than) a lot of boys when she was growing up. The stress of the past few years have led to her losing a lot of weight she she’s more often described as ‘skinny’ than ‘slender’, something that she likes to pretend bothers her but it really does not since people tend to underestimate people who look like they have no muscles.. She is undeniably pretty despite this with high cheekbones, blue-gray eyes and long blonde hair that tends to be lighter the longer she spends in the sun. Like any true Aussie, she looks fabulous with a tan and likes to keep it up even if winter months.

Something that Missy is always using her glamour spells to hide is her multitude of scars. No, she is not a self-injurer; she comes from a family of Australian hunters and has been learning the family trade since she was thirteen-years-old. Her legs are the worst for some reason and she does not like people to see them even with the spells. Another thing she hides are the circles around her eyes and the redness that occasionally comes due to her lack of sleep.

Due to her “day job” as a reporter, Missy always appears in outfits that are very well put together with her make-up and hair done. She does wear simpler things when she is only staying at home, but does not like going out like that because she knows very well how much people love getting shots of people not at their best. More than once, however, there have been people who claimed to see the hilt of a dagger or handle of a gun on her person and she has laughed it off. Why would a news reporter need such things? Of course they are right – she always has a few weapons hidden somewhere on her person at any given time, even in her own home. It has led to interesting questions in the past.

ILLUSIONS OF WHAT LOVE

When it all comes down, Missy was raised to be a hunter and is always putting that to use whether she knows it or not. Upon first meeting someone she will, usually unconsciously, feel out for any weaknesses and strengths, along with doing her best to figure out if they have any supernatural bend. She has been a news reporter since she was twenty-two so she is very good at asking questions without putting people on the defensive and can pull off that charming I-don’t-know-what-I’m-talking-about attitude to get people to want to tell her things. And she always, always wants to know everything, whether it be for the latest story or helping her find what she’s hunting. Missy is very focused on advancing both of her careers, though she tends to be a bit keener on the one that people cannot know about. If a story breaks about supernaturals she will be there even if it isn’t technically her scoop because that’s her area of expertise and she has no problem telling any other reporter to get the hell out before she makes them. Ruthless in the pursuit of excellence and a kill? Yes, that would be her, and more than once she has made a kill while still in her work outfit.

She’s a hunter of the going-for-the-vampire variety and she does not much care about her target so long as they go down and stay that way. She likes to think that she keeps this point of view for all vampires, but that’s not quite the case - something she doesn’t share with people. Ever. She takes whatever she can get and it’s never enough. If she has to then she’ll even take on a hunting job for money – be it hired by a human or vampire – so long as the target is a vampire. She will not kill a human, even one who helps vampires. She’d rather knock them out and drag them to court because at least they deserve that sort of judgment. They were probably deceived or temporarily blinded. She knows how that feels.

Missy's inability to sleep well unless she's completely worn out has also led to her having a habit of catching naps whenever she can during the day, if her caffeine is low or she knows she has a long night ahead. They're not much better than her attempts at sleeping, but luckily they're shorter and rarely filled with the same nightmares. And then there's her relationship with Kristen... a complicated thing most of the time. Missy's the older sister, but Kristen acts like it more often than not and Missy rarely stops her. Why? It makes Kristen happy and Missy actually doesn't mind letting her little sister cook when she wants to. Plus, Missy's not actually the happiest person on the planet (go figure, right?) since the move to Scarlet Oak and Kristen knows it.

Recent changes are making Missy's life even worse, if you ask her, as she has been changed into that which she has hunted and hated for most of her life. She's very, very touchy about this change and it's anyone's guess how well she's going to adjust. All smart bets are on 'not terribly well',

STRENGTHS:
•Excellent senses… Being raised in a family of hunters and trained as one from the age of thirteen on has left Missy with remarkable senses. When she focuses she can hear things that most humans probably do not pay attention to and her reactions are as finely tuned as any machine. Try to scare her at the office? Expect a pencil to your throat before you can get the ‘boo!’ all the way out. She won’t jump or run, she’ll go on the offensive and possibly apologize if you, like, wet yourself. Add in those vampire senses that she's starting to get used to and she is just... a step above.

•I know that already. A mix of the hunter training and going into the field of journalism and reporting has given Missy quite the talent for deciphering the meanings behind words and actions. Think you are being sneaky or coy or mysterious? She probably won’t bat an eyelash because she already knows whatever it is you’re getting at. And she does not even rub it in your face. Most of the time. Depending on who you are and what you've done recently.

•Lone Hunter. Ever since that last hunt with some of her family, Missy has hunted alone. Sometimes she really misses the companionship and the added safety of hunting with others, but doubts that she would be able to. Because of this she has become adept at picking out targets she can handle and finding ways to sneak up on/incapacitate them. She knows so much better than to go into any possible fight without having studied the area and target, suicide not being high on her to-do list.

WEAKNESSES:
•Self-hatred. In Missy’s mind, she has every reason to hate herself. She thinks that it’s her fault her family was killed as they were because she was not there, and a few bouts of therapy has left her with the opinion that it’s all just useless psycho-babble. She also struggles with herself because she had an affair with a vampire in the not-too-distant past – which would work out so much better if she had just killed her. Unfortunately, this is not the case, and Missy can never decide how she actually feels about it. She likes to think she'd pull out the “ohh, haven’t I killed you yet?” card and try again, but you know, she's not actually sure she can and there's probably a reason there. To make it worse - it always gets worse - that vampire is responsible for making her into what she is now. Which means she hates herself that much more.

•Not what you think I am. Okay; so Missy's a vampire hunter who got turned into a vampire because of a different vampire... and no one's supposed to know that she's actually a Revolutinary Rose. She has to pretend to be a vampire of the Sol Bloodline and while this can be useful there are also quite a few downfalls; she has to pretend to their weaknesses while gaining none of their strengths. Like the Sol are weaker at night so Missy's supposed to stay inside even though she operates just as well when the sun goes down. It's going to be very confusing and take a hell of a lot of getting used to.

•Kristen. Her ten-year-old sister is probably the most important thing in Missy’s life, probably the only reason she is alive instead of dead like the rest of the family (not to mention sane), and Missy swore that she would never let anything happen to her. She still struggles with whether or not she will bring her sister into the tradition of their family (though she has encouraged her in sports like she herself was) and can be terribly over-protective. Not to mention if Kristen wants something then Missy will give it to her no matter what.

•Nightmares. Not your typical nightmares that come once in awhile, Missy has nightmares every single time that she goes to sleep and they are blood-curdling. They started after she found her family dead and always center around that, though sometimes they toss Kristen being among them in for good measure, or maybe Marianne not killing herself and hunting her down. Not pleasant or conducive to a good night’s rest. Missy has forgotten what a good night’s rest even means.

•Iron. Missy was always extra sensitive to iron... and now that's she a Rose it got that much worse. She doesn't know how bad it is exactly, but she's been told that it would leave her wishing she had never seen the stuff.

powers

NOW IS THE ONLY TIME THAT MATTERS

Missy is, whether she likes it or not, a vampire of the Revolutionary Rose family and she has inherited all of their strengths and weaknesses (in addition to the usual vampire strengths of enhanced senses and the weaknesses of needing to feed off blood, sensitivity to the sun, weakness to silver...).
Strengths: illusionists, false detection, susceptible to amplifiers
Weaknesses: susceptible to dead zones, immune to vampires and fae-blooded, tattoos, iron, severe punishment, excessive use of illusions weakens (Missy does not have any tattoos because she is not meant to be a Rose and she doesn't suffer punishment simply because if they knew what she was, she'd be dead twice.)

Due to the Rose's extremely strict guideline for turning - which includes the need for the vampire to be a pure-blooded Russian - Missy has to pretend to be of the Sol Bloodline; a family with several similarities that she is attempting to emulate around other vampires to keep herself and her sire from being killed.

Missy has been a Hunter since she was thirteen and she is good at it. She goes specifically after vampires, without a care for their family line, and she goes after them to kill them. Not to wound, not to maim, but to kill. She is an expert shot and has perfected her own personal methods of hunting - but when she was a human they were perfect only to her and still a little below the mark of supernaturals. Now? She has the actual physical strength to back up her game and she might be able to hone her fighting skills even more. A vampiric vampire hunter - is there anything better? Don't answer that, Missy's personal answer is 'yes a human one'.

SPECIAL SKILLS / ABILITIES:
Missy is a woman who knows how to handle almost any weapon put into her hands, and could be considered a weapon even without them – for a human, that is, and her hunter background has led to her having quite the extensive knowledge of first aid. She also has a knack for sniffing out a story and getting to the scene before anyone else, or at least making sure that anyone who beat her there is not in any condition to tell the story.

history

EVERYTHING YOU SAID YOU'D BE

Melissa Peloe was born in Brisbane, Australia early in the morning to David and Nicole Peloe. Her parents were hard-workers (both at their day jobs as business people to their night activities of hunting) and Missy was raised to have their same outlook on life. She was close with all the members of her family, but closest with her older sister Marianne, whom she idolized. She grew up doing chores around the house when she was not involved in this or that activity – from gymnastics starting at the age of three to soccer when she was six, always physical things that would teach her the importance of being in shape. She was also enrolled in a local dojo to learn, of all things, ninjutsu which got her teased a lot at school. Good thing they did not know that she was also taught how to handle a gun when she was ten.

Life around the Peloe house would seem strange to anyone not raised in it, but Missy never thought anything of it until her thirteenth birthday. Her parents took her aside and explained everything they knew about the supernatural, focusing on vampires, along with informing her that she came from a long line of hunters dedicated to doing their best to eradicate the darker creatures with a specific focus on vampires for the wrongs they’d done to Peloe ancestors. In addition to that, her mother’s bloodline had mixed with the fae in the past, giving them abilities to use glamours that could be quite useful. Missy took to the revelation quite well and joined in more intense training sessions with Marianne with gusto, impressing her parents and uncle with her passion. They were so impressed with her progress that Missy was allowed to go on her first hunt when she was only fourteen. It was a young, newly turned vampire who had been careless in his feeding and, with quite a bit more help from her mother than she cared to admit, Missy took him down.

Her grades in school slipped after this, her interest in the supernatural world and vampires peaking, but her parents would not allow that. Peloe hunters always had a day job to keep them well and unsuspected and Missy would not break that tradition. When she was caught sneaking out of the house with Marianne to go hunting, she was grounded and disallowed from even training and sports until she brought her grades up. Slowly, Missy began to learn a balance between the regular world and the one that she preferred, developing quite an impressive skill when it came to journalism and reporting. What better way to find unusual occurrences than to be the one tracking them down? Delighted with herself for learning about a regular job that could go so well with her hunting, Missy gladly attended the Brisbane College of Australia to earn her journalism degree. It was also in college that Missy actually started to notice, and have time to act on, her desire for women – though nothing lasted that long because she simply could not tell them about where she snuck off to almost every night and why she went through clothes at such a fast rate.

After graduation, Missy moved into an apartment near to her family’s home and began working for a local broadcasting agency. It worked quite well for her and her family, and they started to pick up clues to vampires where-abouts that much quicker, which no one seemed concerned about. On a spring day in 2005, Missy decided to take her little sister, Kristen, (a surprise to the whole family who had been born when Missy was nineteen) to the park for a day, give her parents some time off. When they returned Kristen was asleep and Missy did not wake her because something seemed off. After locking Kristen inside of the car, Missy went inside the far-too quiet house, gun in hand. She found her entire family, from her father down to her next-youngest sibling, dead along with several vampires who had not been able to survive the attack on a family of hunters. Knowing that vampires could not enter homes without being invited, Missy could not help but curse her family’s pride, knowing that they would have invited them in just for the fight. There was only one thing missing – Marianne. Missy could not even think when she searched for her sister, finally finding her in the backyard on the swingset they had always played games on. It would have been easier for both of them if she were dead, because Marianne had been turned, Missy could see her fangs. Before she could even think of anything to say, Marianne looked up at her and said she was so sorry before using the sword that their father always used when he was hunting vampires to cut off her own head.

Missy burned the bodies of the vampires before calling the police. After the funeral she left Kristen in the care of an aunt on their mother’s side who had not been part of the massacre before taking her remaining cousins to track down the vampires who had done it. It took time, but they found them and got rid of every last one. Once that was done, Missy took Kristen back and left the country. They settled into New York for a time, where Missy eventually fell in with a woman by the name of Nikita. She was absolutely charmed by her and seemed to be mutual; eventually ending with the two having a closer relationship than she had ever had before... and Missy eventually discovered/accepted that Nikita was a vampire of all things. You can guess what happened then, sort of - Missy temporarily lost her mind. The two engaged in all-out war for a week until suddenly Nikita was gone and Missy was left licking her wounds; physical and mental. The physical ones healed a whole lot better excepting the one on her hand. The mental ones... let's just go with saying that Missy has not really had a relationship since, or hardly slept with anyone and those she has have been just because she's that wound up physically, or drunk. Usually a combination of both and it lends to her already building self-hatred, especially if it happened to be a guy because that is just so not her. It's pretty safe to say that yeah, she was in love with that vampire.

Knowing then that New York City was not right, Missy sent out a veritable army of resumes. Eventually they turned up an offer in a smaller place called Scarlet Oak. Deciding that she did not want to raise Kristen in a place like New York, Missy took the offer and moved to Michigan in mid-2007. Missy has yet to recover from what happened to her family, especially her sister, and then on top of that there's what happened with Nikita... and if she does not go to bed exhausted in every way then she cries herself to sleep thinking about it or other things that have happened since. Therefore, she does her best to go to bed exhausted or not go at all.

Raising Kristen has definitely left its mark on Missy. She’s become a lot more responsible about her actions and has stopped going off recklessly to hunt vampires without making sure that everything is covered first. She’s even – to her own distaste – taken on jobs for vampires to help provide the life for her sister that she thinks she deserves. Kristen, of course, has no idea about her big sister’s secret life and Missy has yet to decide if she ever wants to share it with her. Bad enough that she has had to deal with some of the people Missy’s fallen in with over the years.

POST LIGHT OF MAY:
Missy was pretty damn pissed when she found out this particular bit of news. Now her night job was going to be even harder to keep secret and people would actually be able to go to the police and report missing vampires or weres or whatever else she was hired to take out. Basically it has put a bit of a crimp in what she does and she’s had to modify some of her techniques. The fact that supernaturals are going to have the same rights as humans and vampires are now illegal to kill? So does not sit well with her. And, while she is not actually in any anti-supernatural rights groups, Missy has helped to fund a few when she is feeling particularly irritable or thinks that the vampires are getting out of hand. Like anytime she finds out about Heme or hears people talking about it. She would love to burn it right to the ground.

Only... on the first of September Missy's life changed in a drastic way - she died. It was a routine hunt, but the prey wasn't. Missy came across a Rider of War and that Rider ended her life. Thanks to her little sister the clairvoyant, there was someone ready to "save" her. While Missy was unconscious and hovering on the brink of death, Nikita Vostrikova (yes that same one) changed her into a vampire. Needless to say Missy isn't happy about this. She's doing her best to adjust to this new life and all the things it means - such as pretending to be from a different family so she and Nikita don't both lose their heads - but she's having some trouble. As if it wasn't bad enough? Her girlfriend, Jadyn, is terrified of vampires and Missy... just doesn't know what to do. About anything.

STORYLINES:
Kristen Peloe, 10, Clairvoyant
Kristen is Missy's little sister and has been under her care ever since their family got killed by vampires five years ago. Missy does her best to take care of her, but she never expected to have a kid so reliant on her and no matter how much she loves the little shiela it can be taxing and harder than anticipated. She isn't always there for gymnastics meets because she's trying to balance between both of her 'jobs' and sometimes the baby-sitter sees her more... but Missy loves Kristen more than she does herself and she's willing to do any and everything to keep her safe. Their relationship is currently strained thanks to Missy being turned while she was out trying to kill the red-eyed vampire who hurt Kristen (who saw it happening in one of her visions) not long after she explained what really happened to their family, but Missy's trying. It's just hard, but she'll keep trying. Kristen's only ten after all. Missy just hopes, deep down, that she's doing the right things because she wants Kristen to have a good life, but she can't help but think it'd be better if she was around more.
"Can you teach me to throw?
I said not today, I got a lot to do. She said that's okay
Se walked away but her smile never dimmed and she said
I'm gonna be like her."

Nikita Vostrikova, 139, Revolutionary Rose
Nikita is the vampire responsible for Missy being what she is, but to say that she's only her reluctant sire would be a lie. Missy dated Nikita for something like four months when she lived in NYC, before she let herself acknowledge that the other woman was a vampire and in a fit of disgust with herself and the other woman she shot at her. That sparked off a feud that drove them both out of the city and now... it's confusing. Missy wants to hate Nikita more than anything, and the more she realizes that she doesn't the more confused she gets. She doesn't want to, but it's obvious that she trusts her because she's left Kristen with her on multiple occasions and she sleeps just fine in her house. And when she saw Nikita with someone else... it got more confusing than ever because she thinks she felt jealous.
"If you had a heart, mine would not ache
If you had a heart, mine would not break
If you had a soul I would be whole
If you had a soul I'd give you all, I'd give you my all.

Jadyn Cole, 29, water elemental/psychic
Jadyn was someone Missy ran into at the hardware store after the first demon attack and they hit it right off, hanging out time and time again until eventually they were practically dating. And then they were dating. Jadyn is Missy's first actual relationship since Nikita and she adores the slightly crazy water elemental. She was there when Jadyn got attacked by a vampire and she promised that she would always be there to look after and protect her; and she meant it. Only Jadyn's terrified of vampires and now Missy is one... and with the complicated, confusing feelings about Nikita, Missy feels like nothing is ever going to just be simple again. Which she hates because Jadyn is amazingly good for her and she just wishes she had never been turned because then maybe everything could have been some degree of normal for her, for Jadyn, and for Kristen. Part of her is still hoping it can be.
"Like the feel of a gun staring at the sun
Like a step on the crack you give me no way back
But you still don't see, no you still don't know
I wanna pull you down and show you how you're beautiful."
