It's never too early for basketball
I don't really post about TV anymore. I thought I'd remedy that.

Make Me a Supermodel
Oh thank goodness the right person won! When it was just down to her and Ronny I figured it couldn't go any other way. Had it been Ben I would have been a lot more worried. Not if it had been Perry, though, I can't imagine him having much of a following.

Speaking of Ben, doesn't it just figure that the very next episode after I posted that he's just not going to learn, he actually started getting it? Of the three guys, his is the only look I personally like (though personality-wise, I'm not too crazy about him. But hey, that's the good thing about models: seen, not heard), so I'm actually hoping he makes it.

Of course, Perry and Ben bitching about how they couldn't believe that Holly was still up there just proves how utterly clueless and blinded by their prejudices they were. It was so obvious to everyone else that Holly was just light years ahead of the others. Despite her drawbacks (and boy, that voice is a HUGE one).

The Office
I don't generally talk about this show, because I find fandom to be a total buzzkill when it comes to this one in particular, but I just had to put my two cents in about Jim's supposedly HORRID betrayal of Pam when he actually considered ditching her at the dinner party. You know why it didn't bother me? Because I think that if the roles had been reversed, Pam would have given it serious consideration as well. Also, I thought it just as likely that she'd tell Jim to save himself if he had the chance.

And that's all I have to say about THAT.

Bones
So this was The Lost Episode from last season, huh? I think knowing that made it doubly obvious that the whole Cam/Angela sideplot was an insert, but I'm not sure I would've noticed otherwise.

I have to say, I couldn't really understand why they pulled it until the last five minutes. Not that those five minutes were insanely reminiscent of what happened at Virginia Tech, but I think in cases such as these it can actually be a good idea to show deference to the feelings of those affected. Plus, it got us an extra episode in a strike-affected season.

Life on Mars
Okay, I'm ready to invest in the season 1 DVDs now (mostly because I love Annie's uniform, and season 2 only offers one episode for caps of it. Welcome to the utter shallowness that is me). I felt more invested in the plotline, I liked the characters more, and the finale worked for me in ways that the season 1 finale didn't. (Funny thing is, I can't quite remember what it was about it that didn't work for me, but I just know it put me off the show for something like a year).

Gossip Girl
Color me bored. I'm starting to think that while the 'ship might be for me, the show certainly isn't. Doubly so when Blair, who should always be fabulous, is brought down by the likes of Jenny. The rest of the cast, save Chuck, alternately bores and annoys me.

I think I'm just going to spoil myself for the rest of the season and watch the episodes I think I'll at least have a passing interest in. So, anyone got any links?

And speaking of spoilers, even though I haven't really cared about getting spoiled for anything lately, the way people keep NOT cutting for reactions and outright plot spoilers is starting to really rub me the wrong way. Not to mention the numerous uncut images, which, at the correct size I'm mostly fine with, but people are getting sloppy there too. At least learn how to resize images with the html tag if nothing else. /PSA

How I Met Your Mother
OMG, how awesome was that episode? I heard the song beforehand (willfully spoiling myself. Because I really don't care about those kinds of spoilers, and it only heightened the anticipation), and the video made it that much greater. Tiffany! Alan Thicke! Dawson! Fivehead! (More like Tenhead with that do.)

While people seem to be all in a tizzy about the kiss, for me, the episode was actually made a few minutes before, when this happened:

THE THUMB!
I could watch that loop for hours on end. AND I HAVE!

I'm equal parts worried and excited about what will happen next week.

Regenesis
Holy crap, I LOVE THIS SHOW! How come in its four season I've heard little-to-nothing about it? I guess maybe I haven't been paying all that much attention, because the first time I really noticed it was when spying on Tissa's comments (can it be called spying if it's in a public post?). I looked it up and found almost nothing when it came to official releases. Amazon.co.uk only has the first season, so I bought that (actually bought it through one of their partners who had it for under £8!) and started watching it Monday night. Between this show, Bones, HIMYM, Gossip Girl and the arrival of Enchanted, I got NO work done yesterday, and today isn't shaping out to be much better.

After the first episode I immediately felt the urge to reread Richard Preston's The Hot Zone, only to find out that the copy I own is in Swedish. So I went to see about buying myself an English language paperback, and I found that Preston's coming out with a new book in May. Yay! I don't remember The Hot Zone all that well, but from what I can recall, it was very engrossing. Definitely buying this when it comes out. And getting The Hot Zone in English in the meantime.

I'm seven episodes in and LOVING it, so I'm looking around for ways to appropriate the rest of the seasons. And, you know, I like owning the DVDs, so I'm really trying here, but the only place I've found that sells season 2 is French Amazon and I would have ordered it (since from what I can tell - non-French-speaker that I am - it does have an English language track), if only it hadn't been fullscreen. WHY?! Why the crappy fullscreen pan-and-scan when it's filmed in widescreen, I ask you? Nope, looks like I'll be acquiring the rest illegally while waiting for the DVDs to become available. (Please make it soon.)

Well, that was long.

The only other news I have is that I played the new MarioKart for Wii this weekend, and now my mind's definitely made up. Wii, here I come!
