Leakage

So, Fringe. I think the best way to describe my own reaction is that I found it less than the sum of its parts.

I'll most likely continue to watch this show no matter what, thanks to this guy:

So I really do want to like it.

Thereofore, let's begin on a positive note.

There's Joshua Jackson. Whose character I already kind of love, and who in my book can do no wrong.

I love the premise of science run amuck, and in fact, when I heard about it, my first reaction was "hey, maybe it'll be an American ReGenesis!", which is why I pretty much guffawed when this happened:

I REALLY like the onscreen graphics. Especially this one:

The supporting cast could turn out to be awesome.

My reaction when seeing the trailer was that I thought the actress was really pretty, and while watching the episode she reminded me so much of Cate Blanchett it's not even funny.

Of course, there's also the bad stuff.

Like the fact that watching the lead actress reminds me of watching Evangeline Lilly: it's just one big void. I guess it's possible she may grow into the part, but right now I can't help but think that she got the part based solely on her looks, because she has no screen presence at all (though at least her acting didn't grate on top of that, but that's only a small blessing since bad acting would at least ensure that you NOTICE HER.)

Like the fact that the supporting cast, for the most part, made me dislike them. Sexism, one-dimensionality and exposition machines galore!

Like the fact that an enjoyable premise has to be filtered through The JJ Abrams Factor. How is it that he manages to turn pretty much every show to shit with the fantastically stupid? I mean, he even managed to do time travel on Felicity. On Felicity! Or, at least I think it was time travel... I never did watch all of season 4. He's already started with the whole dream fiasco, is it too much to ask that they leave it at that? More science, less hocus pocus, please.

(Sorry about the raw images, this wasn't meant to be a picspam, only an illustrated review. Also, I was feeling lazy.)
