tv is my happy place. and my sad place.
This VM fic makes me so happy. It feels like the author is making sense out of all the things I never thought made sense in season 3. Dealt with in this chapter: Duncan, Piz, the FBI. But if you're allergic to WIPs, I'd recommend staying far away from this one. I think it's been over a year since the last update and we're only on chapter four. So, yeah...

Apparently, I have things to say about TV today.

Dexter
Debra's been my favorite practically from the beginning (once I warmed enough to the show as a whole to even have a favorite), and though I think they went in the complete wrong direction with her in season 2 (I wanted sister/brother stuff! And got Lundy. It just didn't work for me), she's remained my favorite. And the latest episode? Oh, my poor heart! The sobbing-so-hard-she-could-hardly-breathe conversation with Dexter in the parking lot was perfection. (Okay, I gotta admit, every time those two are in a scene together these days, at some point or another I realize "hey, those two are married!", which kind of takes me out of the moment for a second. But then I'm back, and it's all good.

You know what I don't like about the show, though? Rita. What the hell happened to the fucked up character from season 1? The only thing Rita/Dexter had going for them was how completely dysfunctional they were. And now they're Mr. & Mrs. Suburb? No thanks. I kind of want Rita to find out about Dexter's extracurricular activities and be so fucked up by it (and her inability to turn him in, naturally) that the relationship returns to what it was back when it was interesting. Every time they have a scene I'm bored out of my skull.

Lie to Me
The writers are soooo Buffy fans. First James Marsters and then Marc Blucas (and did you notice how the hotel room number in that episode was 314?). And T:TSCC fans with Cromartie showing up. It makes me like the show more to know that they're fans of shows that I love in other genres. Weird?

Glee
Rachel/Puck is the best thing to ever happen to this show. Trufax! I want this to develop! I want it to go places! (And then we can forget about those other two right angles of this square.)

I'm somehow learning to love Will whenever he performs and to tune him out at other times. (I'm not sure how, and I don't want to delve too deeply into the whyfores in case I jinx it.) This makes my enjoyment of the show rise tenfold.

Two characters who are doing their darndest to bring me down, though:

Emma - WHY OH WHY SAY YES TO KEN? Ugh, I hate it when women have to get married, or they somehow become worth less than married women. What the hell is this, the 1950s? In Emma's case, it's extra aggravating because she's refusing all the things that marriage would bring her - companionship, someone to lean on, sex. She just wants to be married. And not even for outward appearances, but apparently just so she can tell herself that she's at least worthy of someone's affections? Or something? I DON'T GET IT! I just want it all to go away. Now, please?

Finn - The character just bugs me more and more. There's something about his stupidity that just offends me on a very basic level. And it's not the same as with Will, who's mostly just stupid in one area, and selfish about EVERYTHING ELSE (not examining, not jinxing it...). And then there's the fact that I think that every guy whose singing voice we've heard so far has been a better singer than Finn. And yet he's still the male lead for some inexplicable reason that only the casting director the writers the creator GOD can tell! I don't get it. Is there anyone out there who thinks his singing is actually good? Not "good for an actor" or "he's getting better all the time", but honest to goodness good? Because I've only seen fans of the character make excuses so far.

Castle
LOVE, LOVE, LOVED Mal's cameo appearance!

The only thing is that even though I enjoy Castle a whole heck of a lot, I'd MUCH rather have Captain Mal on my TV screen every week than Richard Castle. So it was a little sad-making. =(

I'm going to save Sons of Anarchy for a separate post so I have time to cap a few episodes and possibly include some visual aids.

I bought myself a new laptop with a touchscreen, and because the software provided had Twitter compatability, I got myself an account. I've been reading it and trying to get the flow of the thing, but I gotta say, I'm still not sure. Even in my one lonely tweet, I still wanted to add about another post's worth. So what's the point if I know myself enough to know I'm too wordy? But add away if you're so inclined! I've added some accounts I recognized, but I'm sure I've missed a ton.

The touchscreen though? AWESOME!
