I'm not getting comments from my journal emailed right now (at the very least they're delayed for hours), so in case you didn't see, I made some request icons. I may make more from the caps already provided, and I'm leaving the post open for now (if I decide to close requests I'll do the whole strikethrough thing. But not the way LJ did the whole strikethrough thing. Because that way madness lies.)
My Heroes s1 DVDs shipped today. I found this rather surprising, considering the fact that I still haven't gotten a shipment notification for Ugly Betty s1, which is coming out the week before. On Tuesday, to be exact.
And I didn't hear anything about FNL, which is the one I kinda need in order to catch up before season 2 starts.
But hopefully, Dexter s1 will get here tomorrow. I can't wait to rewatch it in DVD quality.
This influx of new vids has gotten the old flist talking, and even made me think about Supernatural.
I don't think it's a secret that I'm not a huge fan of this show. The writing has a lot to do with it, but this vid made me realize a much bigger issue I have. No, it's not the violence against women (everyone keeps repeating that the vid could have been used from any material, but I don't think that's true. I don't think it could have been made for, for example, E.R., which must have racked up at least as many deaths by now, even violent ones. However, in the horror genre? Yes, probably), it's the lack of good female characters that makes it impossible for me to feel invested at all.
And the fact that they formatted the show in a way that naturally precludes adding regular characters and didn't factor in establishing solid recurring female characters from the very beginning? Makes me almost positive this show will never be for me.
Steph's Buffy posts have made me ache to rewatch, and at this point I'm at least planning a little mini-marathon of my favorite period (mid-season 5 to mid-season 6) after the comments on her latest post made me go back and reread some of
the_royal_anna's posts. Just like the later seasons of the show, her posts never fail to make me think. And also smile, laugh and cry. (It's not pretty.)I'm on disc 5 of Avatar and I'm still enjoying it. I'm just not sure how much I'm enjoying it. I'm positive I'll keep watching, but the degree of enjoyment has a lot to do with the way in which I'll do that. The DVDs are not cheap, and as an added bonus, Book 2, which I thought was coming out mid-August, is actually coming out mid-September. Which doesn't leave much time for catching up before Book 3. I think I'm going to be going the cheap route on Book 2. All it's gonna cost me is points on my ratio. And that? I can most definitely afford.
