My Three Dramas
I spent the afternoon watching in rapt fascination as the whole Myung Wol the Spy thing unfolded. Or should I say imploded? Holy crap, it's like a drama! It's like a drama about a drama THAT'S ABOUT A DRAMA. This is getting so meta it's like universes folding in upon themselves.

Let me just say that until Han Ye Seul jetted off to America this afternoon, I was firmly in her corner, because I think the way they shoot dramas is CRAZY. Like, that story making the rounds while City Hunter was airing about Lee Min Ho performing a stunt and then not getting up off the ground because he fell asleep in the aftermath is funny until you actually start to think about how exhausted someone has to be in order for that to happen. No wonder dramas are plagued with so many car accidents. All the drivers are sleep-deprived!

Anyway, even with the end scene of episode 10, this drama still hadn't won me back (because any time Kang Woo had any sort of back-slide in his development my brain started screaming "AND LET'S NOT FORGET THAT YOU HIT HER!" It's hard to have a character grow on you when you can't forget that they did something heinous (had I already loved him I would have found it that much easier to forgive and forget).

And now who knows? I'm still hoping she returns to the set before the deadline tomorrow, but I think the chances of that are slim. And a recast? Nah... I mean, I'll probably watch it, but more for the trainwreck factor than anything else.

Scent of a Woman, on the other hand, is pure LOVE.

I am so obsessed with this drama it's not even funny. Last weekend I watched the episodes RAW (because I knew DarkSmurf wasn't going to get to the episodes until after the weekend due to their hiatus), helped along by recaps. This weekend's episodes I watched when subs were less than 50% (once again helped by recaps). To be honest? I think I'm better off watching the episodes even with such poor quality subs, because I've found I am completely incapable of staying away from spoilers for this drama for any length of time. And since so much of it is emotional instead of intellectual, it's easier to get away with it (I could have never done it with City Hunter, for instance, I would have lost the plot in seconds).

When I wasn't reading about the Myung Wol shenanigans, I was constantly rewatching the tango scene from episode 8, because GUUUUUUH. Words fail me, have a video:

How is this scene even real? And then they DON'T kiss and it's the best thing ever! Because knowing kdramas, that was just as likely to have ruined it as not.

I've also been cracking up at the Tumblr tag for the drama having just about every other post going: "unpopular opinion - I 'ship Yeon Jae with Eun Suk". Like, seriously, you might want to check if your unpopular opinion is actually unpopular before you hit the post button.

For the record, I'm so on board for Yeon Jae/Ji Wook it's not even funny. I MEAN, DID YOU SEE THAT VIDEO?! And I'm pretty much always going to be a lead guy/lead girl girl. First of all because I'm pretty good at 'shipping what the writers want me to 'ship (which is why Coffee House freaked me out so much), and secondly because I find most second male leads much too earnest and dreadfully dull to boot. Like, grow a sense of humor - it won't kill you.

Of course, that may all change with...

Protect the Boss
I'm not sure about this drama. It seems too slapstick for my taste. Taiwanese dramas have made so that screwball leaves a bad taste in my mouth (I wish they would just...NOT). However, this mostly just means that I doubt I'll get very invested, I'm still enjoying watching it.

Of course, the 'shipping is all topsy-turvy with this one. I mean, she thinks of herself as his mother, for crying out loud. I'm not sure there's a way to recover from that. And I'm enjoying the second lead, deep dark hidden agenda and all. We'll see how it unfolds, I guess.

And yet once again I'm posting about stuff no one cares about. Heh!

Sorry, I'm sure I'll get back to cap games and regular TV in due time.
