FNL
So, when I watched the premiere a few weeks ago I said that the Tyra/Landry storyline made me realize that I really did care what happened on this show. Well, I think that since then I've managed to talk myself out of caring, because the second episode didn't make me care about anyone or anything.

It's such a tiny thing, yet it screws with everything. And I say it's tiny, because as I was watching the murder-related scenes today I realized that I'd probably really enjoy this storyline if it wasn't for the "dumping the body" aspect. If Tyra and Landry weren't brought together by a secret, but by being ostracized in a small town where everyone knew what they'd done and had labeled them murderers, I might even have loved it.

You know which were the only scenes I felt were FNL? Coach with the Justin Timberlake fan. And that's just not right. Maybe it's because I just don't care about Matt and Julie and the Swede, or maybe it's because I feel the Taylor family dynamic doesn't work without Coach, or maybe it's just because the murder storyline is sucking all the enjoyment out of the show for me.

Either way, I think it's going to join the pile of shows I'm conducting a little experiment on...

Since I started falling behind so early in the season, I decided that I would try something new. Unless I absolutely LOVE a show and "need to watch it right away, OMG!" (which means HIMYM, 30 Rock, Office, MNIE, Dexter, Bones, Daily Show, Colbert Report and, once they start, Project Runway and probably TAR [more for spoiler reasons than OMG!love reasons]), I'm saving them up and watching them in blocks.

I just did my first mini-marathon today:

Moonlight
Best new comedy of the season, right? Hahaha, I'm sorry, but it's soooo bad, and at the same time I couldn't stop watching. And I can actually see... *gasp* ...potential.

But in order for it to get to where I think it might be able to go, they're going to have to get a new DP ASAP. OMG, the driving shots alone are enough to send me into conniption fits! And what the heck is up with practically every shot of Sophia Myles? Does everyone working on the show hate her or something? Because she gets by far the worst cinematography work out of all of them. Half of her shots look like they're home movies, the rest seem to use the sort of soft-focus filter/vaseline treatment that is used on some older actresses so they won't look old.

Oh, and in regards to my subject line, does anyone know when The Wire will be starting up again?
