Personality:
Jenna is the young aunt and guardian of Elena and Jeremy Gilbert. She is very protective over her niece and nephew and tries her best to guide them through their life-changing events despite being kept utterly in the dark regarding the supernatural forces that surround their town.
Jenna becomes the legal guardian of Elena and Jeremy after her older sister and her husband are killed in a car accident. Being a college student, as well as a former party girl, she has trouble coping with her new authoritative role. She and Elena have a strong and stable relationship from the beginning; whereas she and Jeremy have a rocky relationship at first, due to him using drugs and alcohol as coping mechanisms, but they grow closer after Damon compels him to help ease the pain of losing his parents. Eventually, as with most things, she finds her way and things became somewhat easier to handle.
She meets Alaric Saltzman through Jeremy after he moved to Mystic Falls to assume the role of the high school's history teacher. Her first impression of him is that he is sweet and she does become interested in him, even though she swore off men due to a messy break up. They begin a steady relationship that eventually becomes strained due to him keeping his vampire hunting lifestyle a secret. Once the truth of that lifestyle and the fact that everyone has kept the existence of vampire and the supernatural from her comes out, she breaks off the relationship. However, once Elena sits down with her and comes clean about everything, she decides to forgive him, understanding the only reason he lied to her was to protect her.
Later that same day, Katherine, who is told by Klaus to prented to be Elena, lures Jenna outside where he attacks her. Deciding to use her to replace Caroline as the vampire in the ritual to end the curse, he feeds her his blood, then kills her. When Elena arrives, she is forced to watch as Klaus forces Jenna to drink the blood of his witch, thus completing her transition. Afterwards, they have a few more moments together before the ritual begins and they try to figure a way out. Jenna tries and fails to kill the witch performing the ritual and Klaus kills her, despite Elena's desperate pleas for him to spare her life.

The first sensation Jenna felt was warmth, the soft kind that she associated with fresh laundry and the summer nights. The second was the sound of the ocean, the splash of waves as they met the sandy beach. Slowly she opened her eyes and was met with the walls and rooftop of what looked to be some sort of primitive hut or shack. They looked to be made of some kind of mud or clay along with grass and straw. "Where am I?" she mumbled and tried to sit up. Pain instantly shot through her head and closing her eyes, she quickly laid back down.
After a few moments the pain receded and left only a dull ache behind. She also noticed another ache, this one located on the left side of her chest, right by her heart. Opening her eyes again, she decided to take things a little slower. This time, she sat up gradually and was rewarded by only getting a mild throbbing sensation instead of a full on, hangover-from-hell migraine. After sitting there for what she assumed was about five or ten minutes, she decided to push her luck a little farther and try to stand. Silently reminding herself to go slowly, she managed to make it all the way to her feet without adding to the ache in her head. Moving her gaze over to the far wall, she noticed a flap of material that must serve as the door, judging by the light that was pooling around the bottom of it.
Looking around the small room one last time, she decided that if she wanted any kind of clue as to where she was, she was going to have to go outside. Slowly walking over to the flap, she pulled it to the side and took a step out only to jerk herself back inside, crying out in pain as a burning sensation overcame her. Looking down, she saw a giant burn on her hand from where the sunlight hit it. As if that wasn't enough, almost as soon as it had come, it was gone; leaving no sign behind, not even a scar. "What the hell?" she asked out loud as she looked over her hand in disbelief. Fighting against the wave of panic she felt rising inside of her, she took a deep breath. Noticing a long, somewhat thick piece of wood on the ground, she picked it up and used it to pull the flap back, making sure to stay in the shadows.
"Hello? Is anyone out there? Elena? Rick? Hello?"
