ANGELES
an original character mutant game
PREMISE
Angeles School for the Gifted had a sinister past. It started as an asylum, of course, like most old buildings with sprawling grounds and too many rooms did. Angeles Asylum was one of the first hospitals for mental illness in Los Angeles County, nestled just at the foothills of Angeles National Forest. Later, it was used for TB patients. It briefly went abandoned before being bought out by a large scientific corporation with strong government ties, known as Olympus Dynamics. It was created for one thing, and one thing only - to study and, hopefully, weaponize a new phenomenon: Mutated humans.

From the 1960s to the 1980s, Olympus Dynamics rounded up any individual it could find that had whispers of special abilities, and brought them to the asylum. There, they would undergo testing, treatments, experiments, the kind of things you'd see in movies and hear about in horror stories. The kinds of things you couldn't believe your government would do, but did. Eventually, the mutated humans being experimented on rose up and took over the facility, kicking out the scientists, nurses, and whomever else wasn't firmly on their side.

For a few years after that, they rebuilt. Everyone agreed about one thing: they needed to find others like them, help them, train them and give them a safe place to be and grow. The world was not a kind place, and they still didn't know anything about mutant-kind. Unfortunately, there was a division, and the survivors of the Angeles uprising split into two groups - The Pantheon, who believed in exposing mutant-kind and unrestricted freedom, ultimately absolute dominion, for powered people. They felt that was the answer to their mistreatment and oppression. The other, the Angeles School for the Gifted, who saw the continued need for secrecy and envisioned freedom as a quieter, gradual, and less explosive thing to obtain.

Today, the Pantheon is still underground, gaining momentum and attempting to find their freedoms. They are largely centered in LA, using the Pantheon Wellness Retreat as their front. The Angeles School is also active, seeking out and recruiting students, teachers, and other staff of all kinds to help raise the future generation of mutants, in hopes that some day the world will accept them.

Angeles is a fictional, original character mutant-kind game heavily influenced and inspired by old school X-Men/Brotherhood games and former games Willowbrook and Crestwood.
