Joshua Franklin |
In Character Info |
Name: Joshua Jason Franklin Nicknames: Josh, Jase, Professor Age/DoB: 49/June 13, 1962 Major: Masters in Business *Minor: Advertising Status: Superiore Education Level: School Professor Year: N/A Owns: Eliina Extra Activities: Advisor to the business club. Housing: Room (and tower for Superiore) preference or Roommate if sharing a dorm? Physical Description: Athletically built, lean but not muscular. Definitely keeps himself in good shape. Hair often looks disheveled but that’s the style. Five ten, 170 pounds, blue eyes, short brown hair. Distinguishing Marks: Jagged scar along his left side from a car accident. Fashion: Because of his position, Joshua is often dressed in suits. When he is, they’re of the finest quality silk and fitted to his dimensions exactly. At most, during those times he’s on call, he’ll have a tie loosened, but he will always be impeccably groomed and dressed. His more casual times are still just as well dressed, with expensive slacks and silk shirts. The main real difference would be no tie and often a sports jacket instead of a business coat. Personality: Joshua is every bit the executive that he appears to be. He is very ambitious and manipulative. Nearly everyone around him he sees in terms of ‘can they help my career?’ If the answer is no, then they’re tools to be used and discarded. In the years of his career, he gained a reputation for leaving behind a host of broken careers of people he either stepped on to get ahead or used for his purposes. He is also a very selfish person. He almost always thinks of himself first and foremost. Everything is “how will this affect me”, “what do I get out of this” and so on. When he gives to charity, he’s thinking about his image and the tax deduction. When he helps someone, he’s thinking of how they can help him in the future, and so on. Hedonistic is another term that is very much Joshua. As much as he is all about himself, he is also all about enjoying the experience. Fine wine, gourmet foods, luxurious homes, those are all things that he demands for himself. But it goes for everything else, from the rumble of his latest sports car, to the newest “toy” in smart phones, and the hottest women on his arm, he demands and enjoys the best. He is also one of those people who like to get what he wants. It doesn’t matter whether it’s legal, or what might stand in his way. If he wants something, he goes after it. And he’ll work just as hard to get it regardless of what it is, regardless of whether it’s a multi-million dollar deal, or the cute little coffee girl at the corner shop, if he wants it, he gets it. History: Joshua was born with everything already given to him. His parents weren’t the richest people on the planet, but they were definitely wealthy enough that he, nor any of his siblings, would have had to work a day in their lives. But even with that wealth, he wasn’t raised like that. His father, especially, expected him to earn his own wealth and pushed him hard to succeed. And he took to his father’s lessons well and soon surpassed even his expectations. He was sent to only the finest private schools that there were in the country. In those, he got nothing but the best grades because anything else was below him and his father wouldn’t let him live it down. Of course, he was rewarded with whatever he wants when he succeeded. The Mustang he got for his sixteenth birthday, for instance, was worth far more than most people make in a year. He was also involved with the swim team during both his high school and early college years. Right out of high school, he got himself accepted into the Pearson Universit. Shortly after he started working on his bachelor’s degree in marketing and business, his father helped him get an internship a shipping company working out of Boston. The thought being that once Joshua got a taste of what the world was like, there was nothing that would stop him from excelling. An assumption that was proved correct. The only ‘glitch’ in things was her, Jessica Taylor. She caught his eye during their sophomore year, and started a whirlwind romance between the pair that had them married before a year had gone by. At first things were great for them, even a pair of children being born to them. But, in truth, they were two people who should have never gotten that involved with each other. Each was the type to take what they wanted, even from each other, and that was never healthy for a relationship. He would eventually begin to stray and have various affairs with others. She was unfaithful as well, but she stayed in the marriage as much to keep her claws in his money as anything else. They eventually came to an agreement with her keeping custody of the children (increase that alimony check, thank you!), though he got more than enough time to visit them, and they were divorced before his 30th birthday. After he graduated from Pearson with his MBA, he got offer for a marketing/sales position with a firm calling itself Sapphire Investments. Sapphire was one of those companies that often worked behind the scenes investing in companies or purchasing faltering businesses and selling them piecemeal. Most of its work was outside of the country, however, and it often got in trouble for ruthless business practices. The company had numerous lawsuits, for instance, for child labor, underpayment, and other boycotts in third world nations. It didn’t take Joshua long to fit right in. In five years, he was the director of marketing for Asia. Three years after that and he was a Vice President. He had an eye for deals, and knew how to manipulate people into deals. His success also earned him many bonuses within the company, several of which were over ten million each. It didn’t take him long to earn the trust and respect of the Board of Directors for the company. And for five years, he has been the CEO of Sapphire Investments, working the deals and running the company for them. He didn’t squander the power he had either. Several of the secretaries he had since making Marketing Director had affairs with him, and more than one female associate attempted to use his appetites to further their own careers. As well, a few found their careers stalled or watched business prospects dry after they had denied him what he wanted. For a few years while he was a VP, he even ran a couple of night classes at his old alma mater, Pearson. Five years ago, he decided to retire from his position as CEO of Sapphire. Almost right away, he got an offer for a full time position at Pearson University. One, he decided to take them up on, as “retirement” had quickly gotten boring. Though, it had one perk to it. He had run into an old student of his, actually a past Inferiore of his from Pearson, by the name of Jiayi. Much to his surprise, a romance blossomed up between them and they were quickly married. Unlike his first marriage, this one has actually made him happy so far. Of course, it was also a far more open relationship than his first. Now, he is the head of the business department, advisor to the business club, and a very happy man with where his life has taken him. And, he is looking forward to what the new school year is going to bring him. *Random Facts: Likes: Women, Young Women, Gambling, Competitions, Getting his way, Swimming, getting away from the daily grind.
