The house Asatru lived in was far larger than Kahlia was used to but a lot of the suites and rooms were filled with furniture that was covered in sheets. Kahlia considered this a shame and it made the house look like it was waiting for a new owner. She had wanted to bring the place alive but she had no clue how. That was not her only reason though. The other was she simply did not want to anger him either.
She wasn’t sure if this was truly where he lived or if it was just one of the many houses he owned. with his age and wealth she was certain he had to own many houses in different places. Real estate was always a good investment, or so she had come to understand during her economics classes.
She had almost explored every room inside the house but there was one place she hadn’t been yet. The greenhouse had been beckoning to her for weeks yet she wasn’t sure if Asatru wanted her to venture outside of the house. Her music was playing through her ipod while she danced around the house. Biting her lip she opened the door to the backyard and headed to the greenhouse.
Upon getting closer she noticed that though most of the plans had died there was also a bed in a corner so one could literally sleep under the stars if they wished to do so. For some weird reason the bed seemed like there was still someone who changed the sheets on it regularly as there were no dead leaves on it. Paying no attention to it she danced around the greenhouse noticing the little cards mentioning the names of the vegetables that had been grown here. there was a large selection and though the greenhouse was large and round it seemed it had been divided in different sections. Grinning she laughed when she noticed there was an area with different type of coffee, a section with different kind of wine grapes and a section specifically dedicated to truffels. Whomever took care of the greenhouse was a food connoisseur with ambition.
The one section she was saddened about to notice it was near death were the roses. There were many different coloured bushes planted and the place deserved a lot of love and attention. Biting her lip Kahlia figured that the vegetable section was large enough to grow enough food to sustain herself because take out and pizzas were getting old. Then she realised that most of the vegetables would take a long time to grow and who said she would be around when they were ripe for the picking?
Closing her eyes she started imagining how the place would look with everything in bloom. She knew she would never see it but by focusing on her music she could see it in her mind's eye. She moved to the music as she danced through the green house, moving her arms and legs like she was used to from her dance lessons. The more she danced, the more tired she got as it seemed her energy was draining right out of her. Knowing she was near the bed she allowed herself to collapse on it. Her left hand dangling on the bed next to the old, near death rosebushes she saw them come back alive and with a satisfied smile drifted off into the dream she had created for herself.
