blurb here
personality
QUIRKS: her face speaks for her, rarely shaves [not sorry], rolls her tongue when she's uncomfortable
LIKES: Quidditch, dogs, literally any sport, exercise, music, dacing her arse off, movie theaters, trash food, beer, spontaneity, scented candles, bubble baths, flying way to fast for it to be remotely safe
DISLIKES: Spiders, tabloids, cheaters, sexists, purists, racists - you know, basically all the bad groups who want to oppress and ruin the lives of others for no valid reason, early mornings, the dark lord and his minions
In a lot of ways, Angie is nothing more than you cliché Gryffindor. Brave to almost a level of stupidity, animated, daring, fiery in every aspect of her life, and deeply passionate about the things she believes in. Usually, her mouth and her actions tend to get her in hot water, but she's been trying to reign that part of her in. She has a tiny bit more control. You know, maybe think a little bit first. Baby steps. Be proud.

Angelina doesn't see the point of bullshitting or being dishonest with those around her or when it comes to herself. She prefers straight shooters, people who will speak the truth and not be afraid to hurt her feelings. She's far from soft, and doesn't appreciate being treated as such, though on occasion it is nice to be reminded she's pretty and to be romanced. Balance is important. Really, her emotions are as obvious as the expressions on her very animated face, and she's no stranger to her looks giving away what she's thinking before she even opens her mouth. She's not a fan of secrets, because usually they end in someone getting hurt, though that doesn't mean she's unwilling to keep one depending.

A natural born leader, Angelina has the confidence to take the reigns and lead those around her. She's good at quick thinking, though more about real world stuff than theory and academics. Her personality can come off as strong, especially when she feels herself to be in charge, and can read as harsh. But she does try to make up for it when she realizes. While some suffer from pride, Angelina does not. She knows how to suck it up and apologize, even if it stings real bad. She knows how to change her way of thinking, if necessary. While some leadership falls into a stubborn, authoritative approach, Angelina is about creativity and ingenuity. Think outside the box. Prove her wrong. Do something different. Surprise her. Allow her to learn. But in return, she is going to push those around her to their greatest potential, even if they hate her for it. Failure is not an option, friends.

And while it is true that Angelina is an incredibly strong, independent, fun-loving woman who just wants to be a good role model, she also does harbor her grief and trauma under the surface. She still has a lot of guilt, anger, and regret over the Battle of Hogwarts. Due to this, she does suffer from bouts of depression, and especially anxiety. A new thing in her life is panic attacks, though it takes a lot to get her there. She also feels an almost constant buzz of paranoia in the back of her mind that she can't seem to shake. One would categorize her as perhaps jumpy on occasion, but in order to combat this, she does tend to pour a lot of energy into her self defense practice, both magically and physically. Does that fix the issues? Absolutely not. But the rush of endorphins from both is real nice.

appearance
HEIGHT: 5'8"
WEIGHT: 165
HAIR: Dark Brown
EYES: Dark Brown
Angelina is a African American woman, a tad on the taller side, who also very clearly takes care of herself. She's got an athletic build from Quidditch and her slight addiction to exercise, but also has somehow managed to keep some of her softer curves. It isn't the best balancing act, but she does enjoy a cheeseburger and beer like, all the time. Self control? Not so great. Her hair is dark, usually left natural because she doesn't see the point of having it any other way. Sometimes she goes for braids, but that sort of style is few and far between. As far as her style of dress, it really is whatever makes her feel good. She prefers more athletic clothing, since more often than not she's at practice or working out. It's quite comfortable. But she does enjoy dressing up, and showing off that more feminine side of her. Rarely does she wear makeup.

history
Angelina's parents were always careful about the decisions they made, and having children was no different. They waited until they were both extremely secure in their chosen careers, had a steady income with a surplus, and felt confident that the stress of having a child wouldn't break them as a couple. Which meant her parents weren't exactly young when Angie came screaming and kicking into the world, but really, that only benefited the young woman in the long run. They were able to bring her up with plenty of guidance gleaned from real world experience, provide her with numerous opportunities, and support and love her every step of the way. It allowed to Angelina to really become her true self, even if that true self really tested their patience from a young age.

For one, she could never sit still. Angelina was born with almost an impossibly high surplus of energy at all times. The moment she was able to walk, she was running. She was climbing onto things, and getting into places they swore no child would ever be able to figure out [though the moment she slowed down she tripped over her own two feet and fell into everything]. The moment she was old enough to participate in extra curriculars outside the home, she was immediately enrolled in dance classes and sports. Mostly the latter stuck though. Of course, being brought up in a family that had been magical for the last generation or so meant she had more of an upbringing in magical sports, but there was plenty of muggle influence as well. Footie, rugby, and of course, Quiddtich. The first time she was ever taken to a game at six years old, she was absolutely hooked. She knew what she wanted to be in the future as she watched strong players whiz by, playing their hearts out in the open sky. Nothing had resonated with her more.

For her seventh birthday, she received a broom. Though of course it came equipped with a number of safety features, like how fast and how high she was able to fly. But that didn't stop her from pushing her limits. There were broken bones and tears, but it never really stopped her. She was fearless in nearly all things, to a point that nearly gave both of her parents a heart attack on several occasions, but she wouldn't apologize for what she loved, and they didn't want her to either.

By the time her letter came in the mail, Angelina was ready to go. The thought of not seeing her family for a long while hurt, as she was close with both of her parents, but that didn't stop her drive or excitement. On the train, she met a few individuals who she would learn to develop lifelong friendships with, like the Weasley twins and Lee Jordan. And of course, she couldn't forget Katie Bell. There was nearly an instant connection there, and they stayed as close as possible during the sorting ceremony. It was as though fate stepped in when they were both sorted into the same house, Angelina more than grateful for the opportunity to continue getting to know the other girl, as well as the rambunctious twins.

And while she didn't make the team her first year (firsties never made it, or so she was told), that didn't stop her drive the next year, securing her position alongside her friends. It was an overwhelming feeling to have practiced for this moment, and to finally achieve it. There was no way in hell she was going to let herself or her team mates down.

Though, she sort of did. Mostly because she had a bad habit of being hyper focused in one area, and let her grades slip. By the time Harry Potter rolled in (and broke the first year rule, rude), she was nearly on academic probation. But she managed to pull her shit together, and even though it was a bit of a hit to her pride, even manage to ask for help. Which was certainly a growing experience, as being as loud mouthed an independent as her, she was under the impression she didn't need anything from anyone. But the years would show her that kind of thinking was incorrect, and without her makeshift family at the school, she would have never pulled through or became anything other than an average woman.

Over the next several years though, Angie learned a very important lesson in leadership and hard work. And also learning to both speak her mind when Oliver Wood was being a sexist butthole, and keep her mouth shut when the situation called for it for the sake of everyone's sanity. She definitely never backed down in the face of conflict, but did know when to put the team over her own problems and concerns. That's what a good team mate did, after all. Which was especially important to remember when shit started to hit the fan, like with Sirius Black apparently running amok on the school grounds, and when Quidditch was cancelled because of the Triwizard Tournament. To be frank, Angelina was extra salty that year, if only because they had FINALLY WON THE CUP the year prior, and she was ready to show their strength once more. She probably started several fights since she had very little place to take out her extra energy. But hey, at least she finally got a boyfriend. For a while, anyway. Besides, her own state of being didn't matter by the end of the year, when Cedric Diggory was brought back dead by Harry Potter.

It was a tense summer in her household, if only because her parents didn't know what to believe. But Angelina had grown up alongside Harry Potter, and she was not about to let her own parents fall for the bullshit the media was spinning and set the record straight, even if they didn't fully believe her. But upon her return she was given the life changing information that she would be Quidditch Captain, and she didn't take that role lightly. No, instead she became a fucking drill instructor, and literally all of her friends had to remind her to calm the fuck down. But eventually, she found a sweet spot when it came to both practices and leading her team. It was a beautiful moment until Harry, Fred, AND George were kicked off of her damn team. There were threats. Very scary, real threats, which she later apologized for as she realized it wasn't entirely their faults. Umbridge was insane, and also out to ruin her and all of her friends.

It was also later this year that she made the decision to join her friends and Harry as a member of Dumbledore's Army. She wanted to protect herself, to protect the ones she loved, and most importantly, she wanted to piss off Umbridge in the best way possible after fucking over the team so bloody hard. God, that woman was a toad, and Angelina MIGHT have gotten detention for yelling that in her face one day. Whatever. Totally worth it. And for once, Angelina was willing to be taught instead of the teacher. She learned a lot, and really helped hone and develop her natural talent for defense. It was a great feeling to excel at something besides Quidditch, and she was more than impressed with Harry for his leadership skills. Then again, she never had any doubt and it was at that moment she knew he would be the next Captain of the team as well. There was no one else she'd rather have it be.

Like the rest of her classmates, Angelina was absolutely wrecked over the death of their headmaster, their leader, and their guru of knowledge Albus Dumbledore. That summer, she absolutely poured her heart and soul into Quidditch and nearly took herself out through exhaustion. It took the berating of her ever present bestie Fred to get her to finally calm down, and for once, she listened. She was getting noticed by major teams, and had high hopes for her future career. But then the war began, and everything was put on hold due to the state of the world. Her friends were on the run, in mortal danger, and Angelina did her best to aid them in whatever way she could, whether it was a safe place to stay, passing along messages, etc.

Though to be fair, Angelina wasn't sure she was entirely prepared for what was to come when the DA coins heated up. She had an inkling of what it meant, and she was afraid to return to Hogwarts, but she wasn't the type to let fear or uncertainly stop her. By the time she managed to make it inside the castle, the Battle was just on the horizon. She could see the Death Eaters and their alliances gathering, but she was also surrounded by friends, which gave her the courage to press on.

When the fighting actually began, nothing in the entire world prepared Angelina for the carnage, or the things she had to do to save those around her, and survive herself. She watched Remus Lupin and Tonks die, even if it was from across a Battlefield. She saw countless others fall, and though she wanted to crumple up in a ball for most of it, she pressed on. She used the knowledge and the skills she had acquired from the DA, as well as her own experiences from afterwards to keep herself standing. But when she saw Fred fall, well, there was a part of her that fell too. Looking to keep herself together, Angelina threw what she had remaining into the rest of the Battle, only allowing herself a few small tears when it was all said and done. After all, he was just her friend, not her damn twin or anything. She did whatever she could to be available to those emotionally who needed it, while remaining detached herself. It was an interesting balancing act she thought she pulled off.

And even though the world felt wrong, it went on. And Angie tried to live again. She made the Harpies in 2000. And most recently she's started an on again and off again fling with a certain person she would rather remain nameless for the time being [though lbr we all know]. Friends with benefits, not important. Not at all.
