PERSONALITY
Before the outbreak, Bebe was a very bubbly, very chatty girl. She was bouncy and vibrant and loved to talk to people. Everyone was a friend to her, even strangers. She was a self described social butterfly and constantly had a song to sing. That has changed considerably since the outbreak. Though she still sings, the songs have changed. Darker, more fearful songs have replaced the bouncy hymns that she was often heard humming.
She is no longer as talkative as she once was. She still tries to be friendly and puts on a smile even when she doesn't feel like smiling, but it's becoming increasingly harder for her to go on when she feels like her once massive family is now down to just herself and her grandfather. She's much quieter and much more withdrawn, often just watching the others than really participating. She helps out where she's needed, but her short stature hasn't made her the best candidate for much.
She keeps the faith, though, as best she can and often spends most of her days praying or singing softly to herself as she moves through the town of Ashwick.
Strengths:
• Seamstress - Betty learned how to sew fairly early on between her grandmother and some of her aunts. She became pretty good at it and so she's able to patch up items and, when she has the supplies and a machine, can make her own clothing or other items that can be useful.
Weaknesses:
• Small - Though it can come in handy at times, her stature can be more of a hindrance. If she's running from something, her tiny little legs don't always carry her away as fast as she'd like to go and sometimes she needs to climb things that are a bit too high. Needless to say, being small isn't all it's cracked up to be.
• Fear of being alone - Her grandfather is getting up there in age and she's constantly worried about being left alone. The fear of being by herself has her to the point where she sticks to the man practically like glue. It's made it difficult for her to get any sort of real restful sleep since the outbreak started and the more days go by, the more fearful she becomes about being left alone.

HISTORY:
• Betty was born her mother's third child into a fairly large family with several aunts, uncles, and cousins preceding her. Her birth comes not long after the death of one of her aunts, Betty, in a car accident. In memory of her, she's given her aunt's namesake, but she's quickly dubbed Bebe for short.
• Her mother knows who her father is, but the two were not serious and so he plays a minor role in her life throughout her childhood. She looks to her older brothers, her uncles, and mostly to her grandfather for the male role model. She becomes quite attached to her grandfather and spends a great deal of time with him as she grows up.
• When she is still fairly young, her Grandmother's cancer returns and she passes away. Her grandfather eventually moves to Colorado to fill an opening at a new Nondenominational church there. Having been fairly close to her father, it's a bit depressing to see him go, but she's happy for him getting the chance to fill an opening and help other people find their way towards god.
• Hurricane Katrina happens, causing a great deal of damage to her family's home and to the town they live in. Wanting a fresh start, most of her family packs up and heads towards Colorado to join up with her grandfather.
• About a year after arriving in Colorado, Bebe's older brother, Little Abe, dies in a gang related shooting. It's hard to cope afterward, but Bebe throws herself into song, school, and church to avoid dealing with her feelings on the situation. It's much easier to "let go, and let God" than to deal with the pain on her own.
• When the outbreak starts, Bebe is at the church with her grandfather. Unwilling to leave the older man and go on her own and not willing to risk making him come along, she never reunites with her family. Most are presumed dead, though she's uncertain of their whereabouts in general.
• Her grandfather continues to have dreams about a place where they should go and eventually, with the people who have come to the church searching for some sort of protection, he leads the way to Ashwick.
• Bebe arrives at Ashwick with her grandfather and the churchgoers and they settle into this new version of life, but she's still a bit uncertain about whether the town is a good thing or a bad thing.
