hello? what is this thing? Judith's eyelids fluttered a little before her eyes snapped open and she sat up sharply. "Maggie?" she called out, looking around, cringing at the way her voice echoed in the emptiness of the street. There was a thin fog in the air and blood in the abandoned street; it wasn't anything with which Judith was unfamiliar, but all the same, it was completely foreign. Beside her, there was her weapons bag and a small, thin screen that looked a bit like a television with no controls on it. She'd never seen one before and she wasn't sure what it was supposed to do or why it was there, but something told her to stow it with her things, anyway. Getting to her feet, Judith unzipped her bag and put the weird device inside, dragging out her crossbow. After slinging the bag back over her shoulder, she raised the crossbow. "Maggie?" she called out again, a little louder, but not much. She didn't know where she was and she wasn't going to intentionally draw Walkers her way. The last thing she remembered, she'd been standing watch with Maggie for the night. On the farm. Now she was in a city and she had no idea how she'd gotten there. "Glenn?" she tried, because sometimes, Glenn came out to join Maggie on her watch, even if he'd already done his own. Mostly, they were on watch together, but he'd gone on a supply run earlier that day and he'd been resting during shift change, so Judith had volunteered. Now she wished she hadn't. "Maggie? It's Judith...where are you?" she called, sounding increasingly more nervous and yet keeping her tone as even in volume as she could. She'd started to walk up the street, having seen an abandoned car and thinking she might as well stock up on whatever supplies she could scavenge from it...if there were any left. A strange skittering sound caught her ear and though it didn't also carry the all too familiar wheezing that came with a Walker — not to mention it was up higher and much faster than it should have been — Judith whirled toward the sound and raised her crossbow higher, eyes wide. She'd meant to keep her mouth shut, but it was reflex...and instead of keeping her volume in check, she screamed in panic, because she didn't see anything, but the hairs on the back of her neck were standing on edge and her skin broke out in goosebumps. Something was wrong and she needed them. "CARL?! DAD?!" |
