The crossbow made little noise and the arrow hit its target, the thin, sharp tip of it tearing through the back of the thing's skull and coming out of the forehead. Judith watched the thing drop and she couldn't tell if it had landed on the werewolf or beside him from where she was standing, but if the arrow hadn't done it, she'd take off the damn thing's head if she had to, so she finally came out of her hiding spot, shouldering the crossbow and pulling her otanto out of its sheath.

"Is it dead? You all right, you damn fool?" she asked when she was within earshot of a human, just to be on the safe side. READ MORE →

PERSONALITY
AM I THE BEST?
_______________________________

Judith is a Grimes to the core. She's confident, self-assured, sarcastic, and finds it easy to detach when the situation calls for it. She's a skilled weapons-woman and she knows how to survive; she's been doing it her whole life. She's jaded, cynical, distrustful, and constantly vigilant — something that she hates, but knows is necessary. She shoots first and asks questions never. You fuck with her family and she'll put a bullet between your eyes. It's difficult to get her to trust you, but once she does, you're no longer an acquaintance; you're family to her.

On the other hand, Judith does have a softer side, she just seldom has a chance to show it. She's incredibly empathetic to the plights of others, loves with her whole heart and soul, and wishes for nothing more than to know what life would be like if she'd been alive before the world went to hell in a hand basket. She wants to be in love. She wants to have a family of her own. Judith is a dreamer, but she knows better. Perpetually fighting for your life is the new normal and Judith knows that. She once found a book about children fighting to the death in a television show called the Hunger Games and she devoured it, wishing that she could find the sequel or sequels. In spite of their bleak circumstances, Katniss and Peeta had still found love. Sort of. It was more than Judith had ever known, anyway. She keeps that in her proverbial pocket; a tiny space in the corner of her mind that she knows no one will ever know and she draws on it when things get really bad.

Relationships, on that note, are a foreign entity to Judith. She doesn't know whether she would like boys or girls. She's seen married couples and she got the feeling sometimes that a newer addition to the group — Sandy — and Carl might have been interested in one another, but Judith had never had anyone her own age to whom she could be attracted around. She watches the married couples in the group sometimes and wishes she could have what they have, while at the same time cursing them for it because they are one another's greatest weakness and the group is only as strong as their weakest link. She thinks they are that weak link...because of one another.

Judith is fierce, both with her loyalty to those who she feels deserve it and with her wrath to those who do not. Being on Judith's good side is a huge benefit, but having yourself on her bad side could be deadly, if you don't sleep with one eye open.

History
WELL, I GOTTA PUT IT BLUNTLY: YES.
_______________________________

Judith was literally born in a prison. In the boiler room of an abandoned Georgia state penitentiary being seiged by Walkers, to be more precise. From the moment of her birth, Judith was a motherless child. She feels that pain every day, even now. Lori Grimes died giving birth to her and Judith carries that burden on her shoulders and in her heart to this day; knowing that she killed her mother...knowing that her older brother, Carl, had to then put her down like a dog just because Judith exists at all.

She doesn't remember much of her childhood. A lot of it was a blur between one shelter and the next; one caretaker and the next. Largely, she felt parented by Carl, but everyone had a hand in raising Judith at least somewhere along the way, from her actual father, Rick, to Michonne, Carol, Glenn, Daryl, and the Greene sisters. She'll never tell anyone, but to her...Carl is less her brother and more her father. Rick always seemed somehow detached to her, even though she knew he tried. She calls him Rick to his face, but never in front of Carl. In front of Carl, he's dad.

Carl taught her to shoot. Michonne taught her to fence. Carol taught her how to use a knife — both to kill Walkers and for prepping food. Daryl taught her to use a crossbow. She's the baby of the group, but she's never had a chance to feel like it. From the time she was old enough to understand how, she's been behind a weapon and by now, she's damn good at every last one of them. Judith can even improvise if she has to. She taught herself to make a bow out of whatever suitable material she could find, just in case she needed to know. She never misses a shot, even if she's throwing a knife. To their credit, the group tended to keep her as protected as she could possibly be, but even Judith knew that there would come a day when she would have to take care of herself, for better or worse, so they never babied her; she learned, she practiced, she fought beside them.

The group finally found one another somewhere in upstate Georgia. Town borders stopped mattering long before Judith was even born, so she has no idea where. Just that it's Georgia. They've been holed up on a farm not unlike the Greene farm that preceded her birth. Judith was on watch the night everything changed. The last thing Judith remembers from home is standing on the roof of the RV that was left behind by whomever had lived on the farm before them, with her rifle at the ready and her weapons bag slung around her shoulder holding her crossbow and six arrows as well as a few boxes of ammo for the rifle and her Bowie knife. Then, she woke up on what turned out to be Anastasia Beach...
