Lily Luna Potter was born into an enchanted life. She was born the youngest and only daughter to two loving parents and a sea of cousins, aunts and uncles. Harry and his wife Ginny, the boy credited for saving the free world and the girl who helped, both made enough to spoil their children on top of the over abundant inheritance Harry’s parents left him. Thus, the Potter kids were never left wanting for anything; either material or emotionally.

However, Lily was different from her brothers and cousins; while they showed accidental signs of magic early on, Lily didn’t. The older she got, the more she noticed this lack of magic that welled around her, and the more upsetting it became for the littlest Potter to see her family to go to Hogwarts. It was never a question of whether or not her family would still love her if she didn’t possess the magic gene because she knew they always would, but she didn’t want to be the only one who couldn’t. Lily Luna was determined to prove that she was worthy of going to Hogwarts.

After James completed his first year of school, Lily was determined to prove she could learn magic and began reading his textbooks when she could. She wasn’t all consumed by it. She still played with her dolls and ran around with her cousins, but that drive to learn all the things was solidly there.

When, on her eleventh birthday, she finally received her coveted letter (still without any noticeable sign of magic) Lily could not have been happier. It was followed by a whirlwind of preparation from buying her an owl, Ariadne, and finding her wand—a springy elm wood wand, 10 inches long with a dragon heartstring core—an ordeal that took an hour and left Olivander’s store a mess. Soon enough, Lily joined her brothers and cousins on the train to Hogwarts.

Everyone who knew the outgoing Potter knew she was destined for Gryffindor, apparently the sorting hat didn’t get that memo and cried Ravenclaw less than a second after being put on her head. Confused, Lily almost sat at the wrong table.

Lily got on well in Ravenclaw though. Due to her summer reading, Lily was ahead of the curb when it came to magical theory, but application was totally different. Because of this, Lily’s first year was a struggle. Slowly, she came to terms with the fact that she was awful and clumsy with a wand, bus she was still determined to get top marks. Thus, she began enlisting the help of any cousin, friend and classmate to help her study.

This didn’t mean the girl didn’t have fun, because she did. Lily was the life of the party and had friends in every house (her father raised his children to shed most house bias, though some still lingered and with cousins in every house, it wasn’t hard to meet the others). Lily even managed to snag a spot as chaser for the house team in her second year. Lily also got into photography when she was around 13 years old, after playing with an old muggle camera that Grandpa Arthur had in his shed, and that became a passion for her, propelling her to learn more about potions and charms to get them to come to life.

It was a fairly surprising day when the world learned that Lily Potter was a Ravenclaw, but really, it sort of made sense. She had always been a curious girl, particularly bright, and always pushing herself to be smarter (as a kid she saw it as a sort of competition between her and her brothers). She goes through periods of obsessive inquiry (she was obsessed with the Muggle line of succession for a little while, and she’s read a book about forensics because she was curious, or how she knows the ancient runes alphabet but not any actual words). At Hogwarts, She was an exceptionally bright girl, naturally logical, though not quite talented with a wand. She’s been known to come up with solutions to problems that others have struggled with and from an early age was able to work her way around somewhat complex magical theory. She has a sharp memory, and considers herself to be fairly witty. It should be noted that while she likes reading and she’s smart, she’s not withdrawn or all knowing. Lily doesn’t know everything, but she likes to gather tidbits of information (she knows a tiny bit about a wide array of things).

Something that betrays her Ravenclaw traits is her absolute messiness. She’s a bit cluttered in her spaces, hates throwing things away and just simply messy. She however, often loses herself in fits of frantic organization, and is a little bit scatterbrained, she often loses things in the fray but she always eventually finds them.

However, She is not a one sided coin, and likes to think she could fit into any of the houses available. Lily has been said to have a very “Hufflepuff Heart”. She is a friendly woman, optimistic and bright faced, often smiling and warm. She’s generous and kind spirited, often trying not to burn any bridges unless absolutely necessary. She may not run herself ragged for you, or give you the clothing off her back but she really will go to bat for you if she feels you deserve it.

Despite her caution over stepping on peoples toes, Lily does not falter when it comes to getting something that she wants. She is a hardworking witch, and likes to see things come out of it. There is no goal to far for the ambitious witch.

Lily Potter, to the surprise of absolutely no one, also has enough Gryffindor bravado to make sure she’s not forgotten amongst the others. The woman is confident, and loud. Lily has opinions, and she really isn’t afraid to share them. While she doesn’t consider herself confrontational, she will stand up for something when she thinks it is wrong, and when she’s made up her mind about a person or an organization she is unchanging about it. With that in mind, her moral compass always points north. She can’t stand to see a person bullied, or a creature abused, or any wrong left unfixed.
