Mun Information Name: Bill Age: 26 E-Mail: spartanxiphos@gmail.com AIM: AureliumX Previous RP Experience: xtended and here Character Information Name: Arthur Centino Age: 32 D.O.B.:June 12th, 1980 Affiliation: SHIELD PB: Jensen Ackles Journal Name: _longshot_ Powers/Abilities: Arthur has superhuman speed, agility, reflexes, and endurance. Additionally, he has a sort of supernatural attractiveness about him, which has been known to compel women to fall in love with him, in addition to his already immensely charismatic personality. Through psychometric insight, Arthur can also telepathically 'read' the recent memories of a person by physical contact, as well as psychic imprints that people leave on objects that they have handled. His main mutant power is his ability to affect probability fields through psionic means in order to give himself 'good luck' in his activities. Unlikely events, then, commonly work out in Arthur's favor, such that he has been known to pull off spectacularly impossible feats without batting an eyebrow. Weaknesses: His ability to affect probability fields is tied to the positive aspects of his personality, so that should he attempt to use his powers for a selfish or evil act, or give into despair, his powers will either fail to function or in some cases, even backfire against him, giving him bad luck instead of good. History: Arthur Centino was born into Hollywood. The son of a producer and director, Arthur spent a large portion of his childhood on movie sets and in dressing rooms, eagerly learning all he could about the business from anyone willing to give him the time of day. His teachers included everyone from the celebrities that starred in his parent’s movies, to the stuntmen and film crew. Despite the diversity and economic status of these groups, Arthur viewed everyone in the same light, never giving into the idea that he was better than anyone else-a characteristic that remained with him into his adulthood. No one was surprised when Arthur landed his first role in a commercial advertisement-indeed, those closest to him had long believed that he would one day take Hollywood by storm, which is precisely what he did. From advertisements, he went into television roles that made him into a teen heartthrob over night. Instead of reaching a plateau at that point in his career as many young actors do, Arthur's star continued to rise, with his very first feature film catapulting him into stardom. As an actor, Arthur gained an almost universal appeal across all age groups over the years, for four main reasons. Firstly, there are his looks, which have attracted women young and old. Secondly, because he does his own stunts which are more often than not highly dangerous, he also has a strong appeal among men, who few him as a genuine Hollywood tough guy. Thirdly, in an age where the majority of action stars are muscle bound and have trouble properly putting sentences together, Arthur can actually act-so well in fact, that he has already won an Oscar at his relatively young age, for his work on Undeclared, a Vietnam period piece. Finally, Arthur grew to be loved by his fans because he is down to earth, sincere, and genuine. When Arthur first met Alison Blaire, the musician who would become the great love of his life, he was already a Hollywood icon. Despite how they grew to feel toward one another, their initial courtship was slow. Arthur was used to having women throw themselves at him, and was intrigued when Alison did not. Intrigued, and more than a little interested in her, Arthur shamelessly pursued Alison until she agreed to go out on a date, in exchange for her freedom from him. Only, it did not end there. One pity date became two, and then three, until after a month Arthur and Alison were seeing one another or at least talking every day. More than a fleeting passion, challenge, or even lust, it was not long until Arthur truly fell head over heels for Alison, to the extent that he moved from Los Angeles to New York to be with her. Friends and lovers, they also gained a deep appreciation for each other's art, even collaborating on certain projects, like Arthur appearing in one of her music videos, while Alison agreed to do the soundtrack for one of his movies. Arthur had it all-money, fame, and as far as he was concerned the perfect girlfriend. He was convinced that his life could not possibly get better. And then it did. Alison was pregnant. Far from fearful as Alison seemed to think he would be initially, Arthur could not have possibly been more pleased with the pregnancy. As the months went by and Alison developed her baby bump, the couple found themselves features in magazines and newspapers the world over, often with Arthur stooped kissing or otherwise making a visual public statement of how he was looking forward to being a father. While things were not precisely going as he had imagined they would, there was but one thing, one final piece that Arthur knew was lacking in his relationship with Alison. A ring. Alison would be his wife. The mother of his child. His lover, his partner, his best friend. It would be perfect. As soon as he wrapped up filming on his next film, he would take her out to a romantic locale and pop the question. Little did Arthur suspect that when he kissed Alison and their unborn child goodbye (by way of kissing her belly), that his life would fall apart as they were taken from him, or rather, he from them. It was at a press junket in Egypt that Arthur was abducted. Having settled down after a long day in front of the camera’s, Arthur had been getting ready to call Ali, when he drank something to calm his nerves that had, unknown to him, been laced with a powerful sleeping agent. He never stood a chance, and was quietly spirited away by his abductors. When Arthur woke up, he was laying on the floor of a dark cell. On he other side of the bars was a plump, hideous creature with long dread locks that introduced himself as Mojo. Claiming to be a big fan, Mojo told Arthur that he had brought him to his lair to compete in a real, live action, to the death spectacle. Arena fighting. Mojo wished for Arthur to become his new star gladiator. Arthur refused, and that’s when the torture began. Mojo began with water torture. When Arthur remained resistant after several days, Mojo put him on a rack-a medieval device, which nearly tore his limbs from his body. Still, Arthur would not give in, which led right into electric shock treatment. When Arthur finally entered the arena, it was not because he gave in to Mojo so much as he realized he had to survive if he ever hoped to see Ali and their unborn child. Though he gave in and actually began to fight, he still refrained from killing his adversaries unless he absolutely had no choice, which happened much more often that he would have liked. As a consequence, his torture continued, even though he was becoming the premier gladiator in the arena. The combination of daily torture, the possibility of death at any moment, and the horror he had to experience and partake in took a huge psychological toll on Arthur. Arthur was whipped and beaten at least twice a day. The worst punishment he ever received was to be on the receiving end of the cat-of-nine-tails, which literally tore off portions of his flesh. It was only through Mojo’s want to keep Arthur ‘looking good pristine’ and the efforts of a mutant healer that he was put back together and mended after each ‘episode.’ After a few months, he had withdrawn so far within himself that he had almost entirely forgotten who he was; only the vague notion that he had to survive continued to drive him. Arthur’s salvation ultimately came when he spared the life of a fellow gladiator who had once been a servant of Mojo before falling out of favor. The wife of the gladiator, who was another servant of Mojo gifted with the mutant ability of teleportation freed Arthur, risking her own life to repay him. Arthur never even knew her name, but through her power she transported him all the way back to the United States. Not remembering much else other than he used to date Alison Blaire, Arthur wound up in several spots of trouble upon his return to the real world, and it only got worse from there. Though his memories eventually returned to him, so did the revelation that Alison was with another man, which he found out on his way to propose to her. Given everything that had happened to him, he snapped, and in the process inadvertently caused the engagement of Alison to her new man, through mistakenly leaving behind the ring he had intended on using to propose to her with. Needless to say, he was heartbroken, and even more so when he found out later, on national television, that the child he had conceived with Alison before his kidnapping never saw the light of day. Through much anger, frustration, and sorrow, he met with Pete Wisdom-the man Alison agreed to marry- briefly, before agreeing to go face to face with Alison herself to find some sort of closure between them. But he couldn't do it. For him, the pain was just too great, and he knew if she got within his reach that he would never let her go. Instead, then, he allowed himself to fall into obscurity, virtually disappearing once more from the public scene for a little over a year. Though he eventually resurfaced, it went worse than he expected it would, so that he fell out of the lime light once again. Unable to pick up the pieces of the life he wanted, Arthur finally found new purpose upon being recruited by SHIELD. With his celebrity status, the fighting skills he picked up in Mojo's arena, and his mutant powers, he was an ideal candidate. And more than that, he considered the offer as his chance to finally do something meaningful with his life again...nevermind the satisfaction he derives from being able to be a part of real live 'action scenes' that might have been a part of one of his movies. Writing Sample: The semi-truck lurched slightly as the driver turned the vehicle off the road, nearly throwing Arthur from the top of the cab, from which he held on with white knuckles. Another bump, and he had lost his grip, tumbling forward onto the hood and right off, so that he found himself clinging to the grill of the truck. One false move, and he would be the next ‘bump’ that the truck rolled over. “I’ve got you now, Bradley”, screamed the driver maniacally, shooting off a few rounds from his semi-automatic to punctuate his threat. Arthur grinned. Now it was his turn. Crouching on the bumper and bending at the knees, Arthur sprang up into a forward flip, over the hood of the truck, and kicked his feet out at the drivers side window. Only, it didn’t break. Instead of going through the window, as he had intended, Arthur became as a bug on a windshield, before being propelled onto and down the trailer of the semi-truck, until he fell clear off the back into some brush with a loud curse. “Cut, cut, cut! What the HELL was that?”, screamed the director. “Arthur was supposed to through the glass, not up it!” “Sir, uh…yeah. Apparently that was one of the trucks fitted with reinforced bullet proof glass”, said the assistant, as though by his speech he was announcing his own death sentence. “I’ll have the stage manage by the balls for this, dammit! What was he trying to do, kill our star?”, screamed the director again, as he made his way over to where Arthur had fallen, and was now swarmed by medical personnel. “I’m fine…really”, Arthur said as he got up, brushing himself off. “Just a few scratches.” Breaking free of the staff, the director gave Arthur a quick look, before shaking his head. “Kid, you have got to be the luckiest son of a bitch I have ever seen.” Arthur grinned and shook his head. “I get that a lot.” Additional information: Since his time spent in the arena, Arthur’s former martial arts and stage combat skills have been woven into a particularly deadly style all his own, that incorporates acrobatics, fast moves, and his ability to affect the odds in given situations. While he used many different forms of weapons while forced to fight for Mojo, he has developed an uncanny ability to throw knives, even without the use of his mutant power. He almost always has at least one knife of bladed weapon at all times now, both as a personal preference and lagging paranoia that he might be attacked again. Plot ideas: • Arthur uses his star power as a secret SHIELD operative. • Possible interactions with other celebs in game who don't know about his new career path. |
