Tweak says, "Dammit, Janet!"
LORE
And that was when Mazie learned about class differences. A pivotal moment for Mazie; she realized then and there that the world wasn’t a fair place. That good people were screwed over every day by those who had wealth and good health, by people who lorded over them and never stood up to help.
So, she went on the attack. As she flitted from home to home, she collected bits of tech along the way until she’d managed to cobble together a functioning computer of her own. And then, she essentially disappeared. Her “caregivers” saw her maybe once a month just to ensure she wasn’t dead, but otherwise Mazie worked. She found a skill for code-breaking and honed it until she could hack into nearby businesses just to see if she could.
She never took anything until she managed to hack into a personal credit account. It belonged to an upper, some high-ranking member of a tech company promising to help you find your best match possible. But the more she dug into his business dealings, the more she realized that nothing ever came out of this subscription model he was selling and that he ultimately was just taking their hard-earned credits and using them to get rich without any sort of chance for return.
And it was then that Mazie learned that love wasn’t real. So she decimated his credit account and refunded those credits to every person who had been wronged by this asshole, and finally a big empty part of her felt whole.
And that became her calling - acting as a new age Robin Hood for those left behind, forgotten about, and pushed aside. PERSONALITY. Mazie is a bitter by nature. The world outside has gone to shit. It has beaten down the masses of people who once had hope, who once had believed in a better world, and that set a fire inside Mazie from a very early age.
Mazie doesn’t believe in a lot of things. She doesn’t believe that those who run this world have the best interest in mind of those who don’t. She doesn’t believe that there are many kind-hearted people left in this world. And she absolutely does not believe in love. What she believes in is injustice.
In fact, she has ‘trust the injustice’ tattooed down the inside bone of her left arm to always remind her that the injustice they face as bottom feeders in this world will never truly let up. Even so, it’s Mazie’s personal mission to help tip the scales of injustice in the favor of the beggars and out of the hands of the rich every single second that she can. APPEARANCE Mazie doesn’t care. Honestly, she doesn’t care what she looks like. She’s pale and she’s got dark circles under her eyes from too many all-nighters sitting up in a dark room in front of the computer. She keeps her hair cropped very short and it’s almost always in need of washing, but water is at a premium so she doesn’t shower very often. When she emerges from her bubble, she wears wigs to disguise her identity because there is always someone watching through the city’s surveillance. She would know.
In addition to the factory-installed neural comm-link (and its many upgrades from her work associates), Mazie’s cybernetic enhancement of choice is the improvement to the skeletal structure of her hands. After her first big job, Mazie used a hefty chunk of the credits she’d amassed to go invasive on her wrists, fingers, joints and muscles. The end goal was to ensure that she never succumbed to carpal tunnel - and it worked. Mazie can type tireless for hours, sometimes even days on end, thanks to that upgrade.
