HISTORY | ||||||
Nicholas is the youngest of three children born to Giovanni Luciano and Lily Gambino-Luciano. He was born into two of the most infamous Five Families of New York City. Giovanni is a member of the original Luciano family, a subcategory of the Genovese crime family, which produced Charles "Lucky" Luciano. Lucky is considered the father of modern organized crime and, one of the most influentials builders and titans of the 20th century. Lily is a member of the Gambino crime family; past and present members include Nicholas Corozzo and the poster child for all mobsters, John "The Dapper Don" Gotti, who always appeared in public wearing $10,000 hand-tailored Brioni suits and reveled in the media attention even after being convicted of 13 murders, racketeering, obstruction of justice, extortion, loansharking, and conspiracy to commit murder among numerous other crimes. Giovanni and Lily's marriage cemented the relationship between New York City's two leading mafias, propelling Giovanni beyond just the Don of the Genovese family to the something like the Capo di tutti capi or Boss of Bosses. And it was a very young age that Nicholas was told about the family's business and all he would inherit when he grew up. Nicholas would be untouchable. He would own and run New York City while looking after his two older sisters, Ella and Rachele. Family was first, after all, and business a close second. Salvatore Petrucci was Giovanni's Consigliere and his closest personal confidant for decades. He was an important figure in the Family and acted as a lawyer and advisor for both the Luciano and Gambino's. In addition, he was a liaison between Giovanni and important bought political figures. Sal even had a strong presence in Giovanni's immediate family, growing close with Lily and the children and eventually becoming Nicholas' godfather. Nicholas and Sal were extremely close. Never fearing judgement or reprisal, Sal was the one Nicholas always went to talk to when he needed it. Sal offered guidance without strings or a lecture. And then, at fifteen, Nicholas walked in on his Father and some associates standing over Sal's dead body. His Father said it had to be done. Sal was a rat. The time after Sal's death was a blur. Drinking, drugs, and women in Manhattan's elite clubs were nightly occurrences and Nicholas never got tired of the repetition. Why should he? He had the life of a socialite with the edge of a mobster and a group of faceless friends to enjoy it with. Then, a few weeks after his eighteenth birthday, Nicholas had a little too much and drove. He completely wrecked the brand new Aston Martin V12 Vanquish his Father bought him as a high school graduation present. There were no serious injuries, but quite a bit of property damage. The police showed up, but Giovanni paid to make the little problem go away. None of it stopped Nicholas. The blur continued. Uninterrupted. While on vacation in the south of Italy, Nicholas found out that his father had been arrested and placed in jail on various charges, namely racketeering, extortion, and conspiracy to commit murder. He rushed back home, shouldering the responsibility of family and business with surprising and, thankfully, temporary ease. The best of the best lawyers were hired and a few underhanded deeds later and Giovanni was released on a technicality. Giovanni resumed his seat on the City's throne. Weeks after Giovanni's release, more good news graced the Luciano family: Nicholas' eldest sister, Ella Luciano-Rossi, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl which she named Arianna. Nicholas was no longer the baby in the family, especially not with a niece he was supposed to look after. He didn't want to grow up and so it took Nicholas some time, but he eventually spent time with his little niece and fell in love. Nicholas had another person on his list to take care of when it came time for him to run New York City. Nicholas was given a job by his Father to which he couldn't even think of saying no. He took the position of casino pit boss on the Serendipity Cruise Line. Life continued on, but it wasn't exactly what he was used to. This wasn't the endless New York City where he could choose to be known or to be anonymous--it was a limited cruise ship. There was the ever-changing influx of guests, but, on the other hand, there was the never-changing staff. Nicholas adjusted though. He found plenty of women to charm and enemies to berate. Clara Nichols-Gold and Kensi Brisbaine were two women in particular who had caught his eye though they were different in every conceivable way possible. Clara was a curvaceous, bubbly blonde; he charmed her and she fell for it. Kensi was a sarcastic, fiery bitch; he berated her and she fought back. Then, somehow, several months in, Nicholas still can't remember how, but he got roped into a relationship with youth counselor, Clara and the young daughter she had in tow, Missy. Clara tried to make things feel like a serious relationship with Nicholas playing the part of the good, wholesome father to Missy and Nicholas wasn't having it; the fit was just wrong. Never a faithful man, he started up an affair with one time enemy Kensi--they were the same and in similar situations, after all. Kensi righted him. It was mind-blowing the way she could push the demons out of his head and give him a moment of rushed, intense clarity. He was addicted. He needed it to continue and so the affair went on right under Clara's nose until things changed. Nicholas and Kensi started actually talking and not just casual conversations, but deep and honest. It was one of the rare times where Nicholas didn't lie when asked questions. He told Kensi who he was, why he was with Clara, and why he had come to her and she did the same for him. Nicholas actually liked her, but then, she ended it and confessed her involvement in the affair to Gabe. Not too long after the fall out, Nicholas was called away by his father, forcing him to leave Kensi, the still clueless Clara, and the cruise ship behind. He tended to family business in the City while trying to go back to his old ways of nameless and faceless people. But Nicholas had Kensi in his head. Time passed and Nicholas was Nicholas once again. He was the Prince of New York City, having his run of everything and anything. The pleasant blur had returned. A full year passed and things seemingly settled down. Nicholas' father once again asked him to take on a job in the casino, but this time he left for Isla Sol and settled in, acting as a pit boss once more. OTHER | THE TURNING EVENT IN HIS LIFE Witnessing Sal's death | WORST HABIT He enjoys belittling people 2 DESIRES To be happy; to be just like the Luciano and Gambino men before him GREATEST FEAR Jail 5 FACTS Is very superstitious; keeps a penthouse and car back in NYC's Upper West Side; hates clutter; was given the nickname 'Lucky' as a namesake for his grandfather and his luck in gambling. Nicholas claims that he is incapable of losing and his track record seems to support that; knows a variety of dances (waltz, tango, salsa).
