Lyra has always been a complex, paradoxical sort of person. Her surroundings have always been at conflict with her personality - though she came from nobility, she was greedy as a child. Though she grew up in a prestigious college under the care of Scholars, she was half-wild. Though her scholars provided her with facts and figures, Lyra loved fantasies and lies. As she grew older, these seemingly opposite ends came together in a sort of balance.

Knowledgable, quick-thinking, original, charismatic, and energetic - Lyra was always a natural-born leader. Nothing satisfied her more than heading up a made-believe crusade against an unseeable villain. It was easy, being as quick and sure of herself as she was, to get the other kids to follow her lead. Though she is fully aware that lying all the time is not a good thing, Lyra also knows it has its place and, even still, has a difficult time telling the full truth when it comes to a story. If it weren't for the fact that Lyra was such a skilled liar, she would not feel the need to lie as much as she does. However, combined with charisma and quick thinking, Lyra's ability to lie is unnaturally good. When she really wants to, she can convince even the most logical and perceptive people into believing her lies.

At times, Lyra can be stubborn, argumentative, impractical, and unfocused. When she has a goal, her focus is sharp and she cannot be thrown off course. However, without a goal in mind, it is easy for Lyra to get caught up in whatever is happening at the moment. If her heart isn't in it, she easily moves between things without a second thought. Once she is focused, though, deterring her can be near impossible. Lyra is stubborn to a fault. She will not listen to anyone if she doesn't think what they're saying is valid.

Overall, Lyra is a domineering sort of person with a huge, albeit very broken heart. She doesn't find it at all difficult to relate to people and is often ruled by her own emotions more than logic or reasoning. She can be energetic and outgoing, friendly and fun when she has to, and she often does want to. However, she is still heartbroken, somewhat cagey, and prefers to keep her own struggles to herself, which can make her come off as a bit aloof.

Though not her intention to be offensive, Lyra does not tolerate bullshit well and she has both betrayed and been betrayed enough times to find trust to be extremely difficult. She is fine in light-hearted, superficial sort of environments but she has the habit of running when things get too tough or emotional. She doesn't trust herself with more in-depth and intense relationships, nor does she trust anyone to understand the depths to which her heart is broken, and how impossible it is to heal.

▸ REGRETS: There are no shortages when it comes to regrets for Lyra. Leading Roger to his death, leaving Pan behind as she ventured into the Land of the Dead, thus severing their connection, and all the other small and large betrayals to people she loved, Lyra is full of regrets. She was so young when her life was turned upside by the Gobblers kidnapping her best friend, and her life had been marked for tragedy, a prophecy, and a great betrayal since before she was born. The witches whispered her true name for years before she even existed. Of all of these, Lyra cannot choose one she regrets the most. They all bring her immeasurable amounts of pain to think about.

▸ MOMENT OF PRIDE: Opening the Land of the Dead into the world of the Mulefa, allowing all those who passed through to tell the true stories of their lives one last time, before becoming one with the universe. Knowing that everyone she had or will ever love, that anyone and everyone to exist would find their way through that world and with the universe again is something she will always be proud of.

▸ THE CONSUMMATE LIAR: Lyra is an extremely skilled liar, sometimes for fun, but mostly for survival. Although there are certainly times when you can tell she may or may not be embellishing, throughout her years the lies have become so convincing and her tells nonexistent that she'd take you for all your money if you tried to bet against her.

▸ SELF-SERVING MEMORY: Sometimes, she even fools herself with these lies. Lyra has twisted the truth so often that upon reflection, she often has convinced herself something happened a different way and will tell her stories the way she wants to. This doesn't always translate into her coming off looking better than she would without the truth twisting, sometimes it's for the more negative. However, this does not mean she can't remember the real truth if prompted.

▸ DETERMINATOR: There is literally nothing in the world that can stop Lyra if she is determined to do something. First, she was determined to save Roger from the gobblers - and no matter what it took, she did just that. Then, she wanted to find him in Death to apologize to him for leading him there, and she does that, too. She is determined to help Will, who is determined to help his father, and so she does that, too. When Lyra puts her mind to something, truly and wholly, she is unstoppable no matter the costs to herself.

▸ HEROIC BSoD: Lyra has seen some truly disturbing shit. From finding Billy Costa with his severe daemon nearly catatonic, nearly having her own daemon severed from herself, seeing Roger get killed by her father, actually ripping herself from her own Daemon to get into the Land of the Dead, and losing Will, it's a miracle she hasn't completely shut down.

▸ ARCHNEMESIS DAD: And mom, really. Lyra has a complicated and very predatory nature with both her parents. Both her parents used her, neglected her, lied to her, and betrayed her so wholly she isn't sure there is any forgiving them. She knows, in the end, that they did care for her and love her, and their sacrifice wasn't forgotten but they're gone and she is satisfied to keep the memory of them locked up tight, and unforgiven.

GAME ENTRY. Lyra is on her way to visit that bench, early, as she often does, and as she's walking through the gates into the gardens, she finds herself surrounded by the mist...

JUST LIKE HER PARENTS. Not that you'd ever find her even close to admitting it, Lyra is a lot like her mother and father. They, too, had their own moral compass and an innate incredible sense of adventure and curiosity that they passed down to their only child. A stubborn, determined nature that allowed them to justify the things they did in order to complete the tasks they set for themselves. Lyra has justified, twisted, and re-told herself many times that she is different, but in the end, she is very much like them.

FORGETTING WILL. She knows she won't. It's impossible. They will never truly see each other ever again. However, she fears that no matter how hard she wants it and how hard she tries, when they both die she will not find him in the afterlife. She's afraid that when the time comes, she will have grown old and found another person to love and forgotten all about him, despite her promise.

VERY RECKLESS. Lyra really does not have any fears. She has lived through the worst of it all and came out alright. She has, and always will, dive headfirst into danger without thinking of the consequences.

LYING. Her one and only true skill, Lyra is disgustingly good at lying. It is an integral part of her entire personality.

PARKOUR. Lyra, since a very small child, has found she likes climbing, running, jumping, etc and she is very good at it. There is no height, no roof, no ledge, no small beam to stand on that she cannot get to.

ESCAPING. She's a good enough fighter, but what she's really good at is being slippery. Finding a way to get out of a sticky situation is her preference to actually fighting and between her ability to lie, run, jump, and think on her feet, she can escape most situations unscathed.

LEADING. Lyra's always been a bit of a natural-born leader. It wasn't something she consciously did, but just a role she fell into and enjoyed. As the years passed, it became something more like a choice, and when she wants to be a leader (which is often), she will be.
