Player Information Name: Vic Age: >30 Journal: _ma_petite_ ![]() Images: uploaded already Contact: sabirunas on AIM Character Information Name: Anita Blake Age: 21 PB: Mila Kunis Species: necromancer Genre: Anita Blake novels Appearance: Anita is on the small side. Standing at barely 5'3" she's slight of frame with just enough of a figure to be maybe considered curvy. With an olive complexion and large round dark eyes, her Mexican heritage shines through. Her hair is dark and naturally curly, though she'll call it frizzy. Her arms, back and stomach all carry scars. Including one in the shape of a cross, vampires can be vindictive bastards. For that reason she's more comfortable wearing longer sleeves and jeans. She carries herself like she's supposed to be wherever she is and is capable, if not in charge. Anita can be a bit flippant with those in a position of power and it shows in her body language as well. PERSONALITY: Anita is hardboiled, flippant and stubborn. Thanks to a rough childhood and issues never dealt with, she has major emotional issues. She is often the only woman in a situation and comes off as prickly or difficult. She has an extreme sense of responsibility for those she calls her own and plays the shining knight at times. Often putting herself in dangerous situations in order to either rescue friends or clear names. She is all for the truth, for things being fair and has almost a child like need for things to be 'fair'. She has no sense of tact and easily loses her temper. Does not deal with authority at all well and is reluctant to ask for help even when she needs it. In many ways she is hypocritical, but holds herself to different standards. For most of her life she held humans on one level of morals and the 'monsters' on another. She has been learning, the hard way, that perhaps humans are jut as much the monster as vampires or shifters. POWERS: An Animator - a zombie raiser. She can use an innate ability/power to raise the dead. She later discovers that this control can extend to all the dead. She can act as a focus between two or more animators allowing them to pool/combine their power to raise a zombie that would normally be beyond either individual. Power to bind vampire and animal servants to her - though she has never done this deliberately. Harm from a distance—the ability to turn a person's aura against them, usually resulting in cuts in the skin of varying depths. Technically discovering she is a Necromancer, she has the power over the dead, and can sense them, how old they are, how long they have been dead and can communicate with them. ABILITIES: Anita knows how to use several weapons, she is most efficient with guns, her two main guns the Browning Hi-Power, a 9mm that weighs two pounds when fully loaded (13 rounds) with silver-plated bullets, and the Firestar, a compact 9mm with a 7 shot magazine. She wears the Browning in a shoulder holster and the Firestar in an inner pants holder. She also ends up with a Heckler and Koch's MP5, Phosphorous grenades, Mossberg 590A1 Bantam shotgun with an urban sling, sawed off Ithica 37, and a Smith & Wesson's MP9c. She knows how to use a knife and can throw well; she practices regularly. Using a machete (for animating and vamp hunting), 2/4 small knives for her 2 wrist sheaths, medium-sized knife for her hunting vest, and long knife/short sword in a spine sheath. All knives minus the machete have a higher than normal silver content. The machete is a magical item. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in preternatural Biology, with emphasis on the supernatural and a minor in Creatures of Legend. She attended University of California, Berkeley. She is also trained in judo, and kenpo. HISTORY: Anita was born with the talent to be a necromancer. Her mother was killed in a car accident when she was eight and her father remarried. Her Mexican roots made her stand out like a sore thumb in the new family and she just never felt she fit in. She clashed with her stepmother, Judith, over her "unladylike" interests, independence, and necromancy. Anita's powers manifested during adolescence, causing various dead animals to reanimate and visit Anita's home. Embarrassed, Anita's father asked her maternal grandmother, Grandmother Flores, to teach Anita how to "turn off" her abilities. Flores believed that training a necromancer in vaudun ritual would lead to evil and encouraged Anita to remain Roman Catholic. Later, when the Pope excommunicated all animators, Anita became an Episcopalian. Anita majored in preternatural biology in college, earning a bachelor's degree. While in college, her rich fiancee's parents convinced him to break their engagement because Anita's mother was Mexican. Hurt, Anita decided to forego additional sexual experiences until marriage. After graduation, Anita was recruited by Bert Vaughn to join Animators, Inc. as a professional zombie animator. She was also trained by Manny Rodriguez and became a licenced vampire executioner. She became associated with Edward, and she, Manny and Edward were involved in a dicey confrontation with vampires—a battle against Valentine and his kiss in which Anita received a number of severe scars, including a cross-shaped brand on her arm, put there by some of the vampires' human thralls. Anita is later blackmailed by Nikolaos, the vampire Master of the City, into investigating a series of vampire murders. During the course of this investigation, she learns that Jean-Claude, another master vampire, is interested in her and gives her two of the four marks necessary to make her Jean-Claude's "human servant." Normally capable of reading a vampire's age, she cannot get a read on Jean-Claude's age. Anita identifies the murderer, but by that point has sufficiently antagonized Nikolaos and her underlings that she expects to be killed. With help from Edward, a human associate who specializes in assassinating supernatural targets, and Rafael the Rat King, Anita kills Nikolaos and many of her followers. To her surprise, Jean-Claude becomes the new Master of the City. Sample: The small alarm battered against her head and Anita groaned. She'd switched alarms a couple of weeks ago, seemed her loud enough to wake the dead one was a bit too loud for those with super hearing. Go figure. This one more or less, chirped. Which did it's job, waking her up, because it annoyed her too much to not go turn it off. Untangling herself from a mass of limbs wasn't easy work and with a small nudge and light slap here and there, arms and legs moved so she could get up. When a rather tan muscled arm actually moved over her waist and pulled she bit back a smile and smacked at it. "Hey, some of us have to work for a living you know." An answering groan, a half growl and then finally it released her and she slid off the bed. She counted herself lucky. More than one morning she had to argue why an animator could not call in sick and just reschedule. Especially with her boss. Not that he was actually in charge anymore, but he did run the office and the switch from threatening to fire her to guilt trips wasn't really a step up. It was unusual to have too early a morning, since her work took her well into the night, but a special meeting from out of town and her new long commute had her coming up just as the sun was. First order of business was a nice long hot shower. She had installed a larger water heater a week ago, they went through hot water way too quickly and Anita could be very cranky when she didn't get her hot shower before and after work. By the time she stepped out and dried off she could smell coffee brewing. Tossing on a robe she headed to the kitchen and sniffed the air appreciatively. "Oh thank god. If I had to get up this early without coffee. . ." This morning, was only different when she reached her car. Her dreams from the night before a foggy haze that was easily slipping away but leaving behind some sort of unsettling feeling. It made her commute feel longer than before as she started thinking on how much had changed in such a short period of time. She'd accepted that she was now one of the monsters. That the lines between human and monster, humanity and depravity had shifted, become less solid. Or at least she thought she had. The truth was she tried not to think on it too much. It frightened her. Who she was, what she was becoming. Most of the time she lived on a kind of take it as it comes philosophy. It kept her and those she protected alive, it prevented her from screaming in terror at every new stage of her change. It also kept her from really thinking about it. About all of it. At one time she thought herself a good catholic girl. Well, barring the whole raising the dead thing. She wasn't easy by any means and really had only wanted some sort of normal life. Where the dead and the supernatural was a side gig. A nine to five, or more a nine to three a.m. kind of thing. It wasn't her life, at least it wasn't supposed to be. She had wanted what she thought Dolph had. A job she was good at, she understood, and few could do. Then, a real home, a real family to come back to. In a way that was exactly what she had gotten. Just not how she had planned. Her lips twitched into a smirk. Be careful what you wish for, Anita. |
"I think she believed I'd do it. Peachy keen. I hate to waste a really good threat." |
