Plus, he gets to travel occasionally, so he's fine with it. PERSONALITY Likes: Seeing his name on the papers, his family, writing, chicken curry with naan, partying, drinking, reading newspaper articles, traveling, writing, Quidditch, individuality Dislikes: Biased reports, heights, murder and mayhem, societal labels, overly-clingy women, uptight people, broccoli Greatest Fear: Losing his job Greatest Wish: Eventually raising a family of his own and showing his son and/or daughter the seven wonders of the world. General Personality: Somewhere in Ulhas' mind, there lies a belief that if one sibling grows up with good and healthy ideals, the other's just has to let loose and be the rebel without a cause. This arose sometime in his adolescent years when he decided he needed an identity of his own instead of getting meshed in with his brothers as The Nehru Twins. Individuality is extremely important, hence while his brother was making a name for himself in the Quidditch business, Ulhas needed something for himself in an entirely different field. Ulhas is a pretty intelligent bloke, brilliant and hardworking mostly at anything he finds himself interested in, rather than what's required. By the end of his school years, he was only taking four classes, though his professors believed he'd continue to do good if he took five. His best strength is that he's got inner drive and is able to self-assert himself onto tasks he really needs to complete, at least. A fifth class, however, was just not on that list of tasks. Another strength would be openness to ideas. He's on the fence with a rhetorical overturning of the statute of secrecy, but would like to imagine how it would be like should that actually happen. He's got a pretty vivid imagination, one that could sometimes lead him to jump to conclusions at first, but he's able to take his time to put aside as much bias as he could and just get on with finding the actual story behind a situation. Time to be conservative is gone, and nowadays, you just need to live it up as much as you can! And this is reflected in quite a lot of behavior in his life. Ulhas can be extremely adamant on some issues, which is a slight weakness, because he could argue his point till both sides are blue in the face and the opponent starts having dreams of Ulhas' death by asphyxiation. He's not the sort to say anything that comes to mind, yet, he doesn't internalize anything. He's diplomatic in his words, and tries not to show off his biased side when reporting the news. Although it's usually not expressed in angry words, Ulhas does have a temper, which is mostly shown through walking away in a strop or giving the cold shoulder leading those who don't know him but bear witness to this behavior to think he's arrogant. He isn't, though. Ulhas definitely does not believe he's arrogant to anyone, nor would he ever try to come off as such to make himself look threatening. Pretty sure his stature does it for him, but actually, Ulhas doesn't have that much of a spine. His brain registers a stronger "get the fuck out" response over "stay and fight", but should anyone he care about be in danger, he'll be there to help... them also get the fuck out. Journalism doesn't really require their employees to have all their vitamins in balance and able to beat the living shit out of someone if need be, so Ulhas wholeheartedly enjoys getting drunk with friends and eating anything that is edible and he's not allergic to. While he does work out to the minimum degree, trying to keep up with his twin as much as he can, its not a strict religious thing. Ulhas has friends, of course. He's a friendly guy, he can easily insert himself into a conversation, find out names and then ask for a pint later, but those are more of acquaintances in his mind than friends. Close friends, he has very few. They're usually the ones he sees very often in his life. Outside of those under the Just Friends list, he's unattached. While the other person might thing different, Ulhas wouldn't really say he's been in a serious relationship with anyone before. He just loves women. Loves them too much, but moves on quickly. Sometimes, he's even accidentally two-timed women, and landed himself in embarrassing situations. As friendly and nonchalant as he appears to be, Ulhas is still very self-conscious about socializing, a lot more than he is about his writing, actually. That is something that seems like second nature to him. Ulhas has always had a creative streak, and it's mostly been seen through his writing, whether its recounting a day's story or making up one that's entirely whimsical. Inside work, he confines himself strictly to reporting the facts, keeping his opinions out of it (after all, he's not writing a column). And anyone who believes in skewing the article to cause of a stir doesn't sit right with him (that means you, Skeeter). Ulhas shares an interest in Quidditch, much like his brother, though he was never really a player himself, unless it's with his siblings. He prefers to participate in cricket, having grown up with the sport since he was a kid back in India. Writing isn't limited to just work. He still likes to do so even when it's not related to articles he's working on. Journals make for a good outlet. Plus, he has a fondness for making lists and ending his entries with a personal signature. PERSONAL & FAMILY HISTORY Family: (copy-pasted from Kamal's app with permission!) Mukul Ajit Nehru: Father; b. 18 January, 1925; New Dehli School of Magic alumnus; Board of Directors for St. Mungo's History: Twin brothers, Kamal and Ulhas Nehru were born to Mukul and Bina Nehru on 13 November in 1952, about ten minutes apart, Ulhas being the younger twin. The procreating didn't stop there for the old Pureblood family of India. Two years later Rashmi Nehru entered the world, and then following her in 1958 came Amala Nehru, the last of the four siblings. Ulhas never thought of himself as different than his siblings. They were all Nehrus. They were all raised with the same ideals, so he ought to be just like them, especially like his brother, with whom he was attached to the hip, as it would be expected with twin brothers. Ulhas and Kamal were both pretty rambunctious but it was even worse when they were together. Looking back now, Ulhas likes to believe that he led his brother into that sort of lifestyle, even if it was actually Kamal who was the ringleader. Back then, it was just easier for both of them to have fun! Outside of the brothers' friendship, Ulhas also adored his sisters, taking it upon himself to be their protectors. Amala in particular needed extra looking after because she was the baby of the family. Around their parents, Ulhas always listened to their parents, always obeyed anyone older than them because that was just how the rules where. Basically, whatever Kamal was, Ulhas wanted to be just like him. This wasn't going to change till sometime in mid-Hogwarts years. The twins started their education in the New Delhi School of Magic, but it would only be for a year before their father was given a position at St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries. A move to London, England was mandatory and while they boys felt a bit of estrangement already at the idea of leaving India to go to a new place, somewhere inside Ulhas, he couldn't wait to see what this new place would be like. It was far less complicated for the girls though because they hadn't started school and so they hadn't already made close bonds with people who would have been in their year during then. Despite starting in their second year at Hogwarts (placed in Gryffindor, the both of them) when some friendships had already been formed, it didn't actually take the twins long to integrate himself in with his classmates. That was probably because Kamal soon joined the Quidditch team, and Ulhas just... tended to talk to a lot of people. Quidditch wasn't his thing but he found his own niche in his fourth year when he became one of the commentators for the sport. He excelled in a handful of his classes, but found it more fun to just, well, hang out with friends! Nonetheless, he did work diligently because he would have hated to disappoint his parents. Plus, there was a lot of writing. And Ulhas came to realize that he enjoyed essay homeworks. After Hogwarts, Ulhas didn't start out at the Prophet as a writer immediately. He knew it would have something to do with writing but had always thought of becoming either a professor himself or a novel-writer. He's yet to get to that position, but he applied at the Prophet as an intern (aka coffee bitch for about a year or two). Despite it not being his first choice, the Prophet eventually grew on him, and he stayed in there for many years, eventually moving into the International News Reporter position. That was just the start of his post-Hogwarts life. His sisters both married before he or Kamal did, but he doesn't resent them for it. He enjoys the company of his in-laws and their children -- and Amala's just had two twin girls! As the war progresses, Ulhas is keeping his chin up, watching what he says to stay out of the Death-Eaters' targets and hopes he'll find a nice girl to settle down with eventually. If he's able to stay interested in one for a long enough time. PHYSICAL Portrayed-By: Hrithik Roshan Height: 5'10½" Hair Colour: Dark brown Eye Colour: Brown Distinguishing Marks / Features: He keeps his hair longer and curlier than his brother's. He's just as tall as well, but less bulky. Samples 1st Person Journal Entry: 7 February, 1980 • As previously mentioned by my brother, Kamal, we have the second set of twins in the family, my sister's newborns. It may be too early for personality to be visible, I know, but Kamal and I have already started taking bets on which one will be the reserved one and which one will be the rambunctious one. My guess in the respective order is Padma and Parvati.I believe that's all the more important points to be made. Next time I will add love quotes like everyone's been doing. Yours, Mr. Will B. A. Sheep-Later 3rd Person RP: No! ;D Other Blurb: Ulhas Nehru isn't exactly like his twin brother, despite the identical looks. He prefers to have his hands on a quill and perusing different countries for interesting news articles. Outside of work, his job is to get his brother to lighten up a little more. Plans for your Character: My character wants to WRITE, that's what! Well, besides that, he's also going to have plenty of interaction with his brother, some of their friends already developed in game (i.e. Caoimhe, Quinn, etc.). Maybe some random Pure family would be trying to hook him up with their daughter too. I'm totally up for anything at all! Ability Numbers:
