Undemanding, very charming, great sense of humor... that's pretty much Aaron Turpin in a nutshell. He's rarely seen without a smile on his face, or at least one reflected in his eyes. Little annoys him, as he's pretty easy-going. Quite an accomplishment for someone with a vivacious five-year-old and a five-month-old. Between now and his school-age days, very little has really changed. Aaron grew up with a sense of maturity to him, when it came to his parents and siblings, so he's always been extremely family-oriented. Yet, he was always still a typical boy, with a knack for cracking jokes, flirting when he could, and waving arms passionately when conversing about Quidditch. Flirting back in Hogwarts, however, had really only been consistent with one woman, what with falling for her in the middle of the school year and staying by her side for the rest of his life. With parents that taught a considerable amount of tolerance to their kids, Aaron is likely the least judgmental person you'd meet. Though, yes, he does believe everyone, even himself, hold at least a small amount of biased in regards to others, hence you could say, he has a more precise sense of judgment. He's open-minded and would advocate hearing both sides of a story before reaching a conclusion. He's a popular guy, with numerous amount of friends, most of whom were on Quidditch teams back in Hogwarts. Aaron would likely say he's always been a sweet talker. That might be his perception, but what is definitely true is that he knows how to make an impression. His strengths lie in his social skills. He's smart enough to know when to say what, and how to smooth things over. Even when he's trying to get out of a fix and becomes absolutely nervous, he has a tendency to talk a whole lot that it might just distract someone long enough for a solution to actually come out randomly. And apparently, the fact that he would wear his daughter's creations to work, even if its a sparkly pink and yellow crown that says "King Daddy" on it, can also win people over. Aaron's mentality when it comes to his family is to be the best friend as well as the father or husband or older brother. Considering he started out as best friends with Elinor, that is always easy to maintain. Moreover, he's a capricious lover, a bit on the impulsive side even when it comes to making her smile. He has a somewhat lax approach to parenting, because, of course, he wants to be the cool and hip father and believes that his children have the right to pursue anything that makes them happy... within limits, of course. He's very close to his eldest sister since they're closer in age, but gives the same attitude to his younger siblings too. He's protective over all of them, and has their back, so to speak -- should they do something wrong or require help to get them out of a fix, he'll provide the hand, no questions asked and no lectures either. Great stuff about Aaron so far, but he's not exactly Mister Perfect, even if he likes to think he's awesome. His impulsiveness with his family can lead him to be a little careless with money. A shopaholic, this one, yes. He'll justify it by claiming he loves his wife and daughters, but in the end, it is still a want over a need. Aaron also rarely gets upset but when he does, he'd brood annoyingly for sometime. And his third weakness... he has an extremely hard time with saying "no" to people. It's a different situation with parenting but outside of that, he'd say yes to taking on as many favors for people as he can until it starts to overwhelm him. Aaron is a Quidditch fanatic, and a devoted Cannons supporter, but that's not all he's a fanatic about. A passion for Muggle music and speaking out against that part of society that is slowly tearing families apart over extremely-old-fashioned-that-its-just-ab PERSONAL & FAMILY HISTORY Family: Scott Turpin: Father; Hogwarts alumnus (Ravenclaw '43) b. 1925 History: The story of Scott Turpin and Anna Rabnott is much like the story Aaron would be telling his daughters in the future about his own marriage. Scott and Anna's love started out in a high-school-sweetheart manner -- except replace "high school" with "Hogwarts". With a year in age difference, those ten months of being apart (not including Hogsmeade trips and winter hols) were agonizing but worth it. And promptly after, they were engaged, then married. Not too far along into their marriage, Scott was shipped off to fight in World War II in 1945, but returned back home after some months in July of the same year. But once a fighter, always a fighter, and the fighter's spirit that ran a course through his veins wouldn't let him find rest till he joined the hitwizard programme. His first daughter, Elisabeth, was born while he was still a trainee. Some years after that, Aaron came into the world, very early in the morning of March. With two children already, the couple took about seven years of their lives to raise them two before having two more children -- in '57, Samuel was born and then in '59, little Melanie completed the family. Despite being the second oldest, Aaron still took it on himself to being the second-in-command (or third?) after his parents. He was to be the role model for his younger siblings, regardless if it was at age ten while Sam and Melanie were too young to really remember how he was a role model, or if he was just fresh out of Hogwarts. When his mother had been pregnant with Melanie, Aaron picked up on the habit of taking care of Sam, considering Elisabeth had already started at Hogwarts. During the years before he left for Hogwarts himself, he got a sufficient amount of experience taking care of his younger siblings, when his father was at work. If you asked him the cons of joining Hogwarts, he'd say right off the bat that he missed Sam and Melanie a whole lot. With the age gap, Aaron didn't have a chance, really, to share a school year with either of his younger siblings, but he wrote back whenever he could, sending pictures before either of the kids were able to read. Meanwhile, he kept up his studies, a Ravenclaw upon joining, and of course, made several friends in his first year. He had always been greatly engrossed with Quidditch but never received a position on the team. Nonetheless, he started to partake in commentating during matches starting fifth year, and that passion stayed with him for the rest of his life. When he started out, Elinor Prewett was just another female classmate that sat across the room from him in several of his classes with copper-coloured hair so notable, that it became her nickname - Copper Prewett. For some good time, she was just another classmate and Junior Journalist member who probably... didn't like the Chudley Cannons very much, and thus sneered at him and called him annoying when he'd start rambling about his faith in that team. As for Aaron, well. He's a bloke. He just thought she was cute, sneering aside. It must have been something about how he must have come off during his fifth year, during his commentary at Quidditch games -- his swagger? His words? Hormones, even? -- but Elinor eventually softened up to him and they started a very close friendship for some time, because Aaron ever got the nerve to announce her liked her in his own goofy and completely personal way. During a Quidditch game between Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, palms already sweating, he cleared his throat before saying, "I know we have our house loyalties, Copper Prewett, but do you think we can put our differences aside and go on a date?" The couple was inseparable for the rest of the school years, falling in love somewhere in between. Aaron had long before made a decision that he wanted to be with her for the rest of his life and he didn't hesitate to ask her to marry him. Soon after graduating, they had their wedding in the summer following their leave and moved into a cottage in Ewhurst where they still live today. Aaron received a job as a professional Quidditch commentator on the Wireless and Elinor started her career as an intern at the Daily Prophet. About five years later, the couple had their first child, a daughter named Emma, and then Lisa in September of 1979. Aaron continued his job at the WWN, but when several of his closest friends started the secret Underground wireless and asked him to join, he took the opportunity right away. Life is going great. Now if only the war would end, they'd be completely out of danger. PHYSICAL Portrayed-By: Josh Lucas Height: 5'8" Hair Colour: Dirty blond Eye Colour: Blue Distinguishing Marks / Features: He's got dimples on both sides of his cheeks. He keeps up somewhat scruffy appearance, with hair looking like its been partially combed. He prefers it that way, though still has the decency to comb it back during formal parties. Samples 1st Person Journal Entry: [ Warded Private ] I don't even know what to say. Which is definitely a first for me, but what can I really say that would make her feel better? It's not like my words are going to magically bring them back. This is utter bullshit. Preservation of society, and this is the way they choose? Killing and kidnapping and ripping apart families? Bloody hell, if they want the rest of the world to think like them, we'll be wiping out the whole population in a matter of weeks. [ End ward ] [ Warded to Ted ] I feel absolutely useless, like I'm just sitting here and twiddling my thumbs. I can only say so much to Elinor to make her feel better. [ End ward ] Emma brought her artistic side out again today. There was glitter all over the table by the end of it, but I am now "King Daddy" and I own a pink and yellow paper crown. 3rd Person RP: No! ;P Other Blurb: Aaron Turpin could probably say that he lives at least two different lives: one is the bloke you hear on the Wireless when you can't get the tickets to that Quidditch game, and the other walks around Diagon Alley with sparkly yellow king's crown made by the rambunctious five-year-old in his arms. And then there's the third more secretive life, one of the many voices on The Tube, openly expressing his distaste for the war and for the ideals that have provoked it. Plans for your Character: I want him to interact with his family and friends, 'cause he has a lot of connections already! :D I want him to partake in The Tube, of course. Unsure of the death yet. Ability Numbers: (See the chart for details.)
