Personality: Kurt Wagner might appear like a blue devil with a prehensile tail, but that's where the devil part of it ends. He's an extremely docile, compassionate, religious and peaceful man. He's religious in such a way that self-inflicted scars cover nearly every inch of his body; they're angelic symbols he's etched into his skin for every sin he's felt he's committed- whether most of them are actually warranted, remains to be seen. Because of his peaceful nature, he doesn't yet feel like he ought to join the X-Men because their lives are very violent. It shouldn't be, but it is. But his compassion paved the path for helping the X-Men out once and it will do that again. And he's definitely loyal to the few mutants he's met so far - and will always go far beyond the call of duty to help them, because it's only the right thing to do.
He's surprised about Mystique's refusal to pass as human, a feat he's never going to be capable of. But it isn't so much regret as it is genuine curiosity; his experiences with humans outside of the circus haven't been the most positive. Inspiring mostly fear and hate in humans, he's come to pity them because they're incapable of seeing anything beyond what they can see. As such, he often keeps to the shadows. But Mystique struck a chord in him all the same - and he might try because everyone else seems to be doing it.
As he often tries to say, he was called the incredible Nightcrawler in the Munich circus and there's a kind of pride, showmanship and playfulness to his attitude and abilities- one only a circus could bring forth; he is unusual and he's accepted that wholeheartedly. He's never going to be human and that's actually okay. Kind of. More so if he views his existence and all of his trials as a test from God. And while he's not a very learned man, he can be very wise. A little too wise. But recently, he's had a rough go of it; he was tortured by Stryker, forced to try and kill the president and then Jean died - it's possible and very likely that he'll be a little glum for a while to come.

HISTORY
• Abandoned at birth, Kurt Wagner was eventually found by kind circus people in Germany, where he was eventually taken in by the Szardos family. He eventually became a one-of-a-kind Olympic level acrobat, virtually unmatched in skill because of his bone structure.
• Kurt fell in love with Amanda, his foster sister. When her trapeze performance went wrong, Kurt saved Amanda from certain death; he only received a few broken ribs, but was heartbroken over her relationship with Werner, another trapeze artist. When he eventually visited a church, Amanda followed him with his knowledge - where she eventually admitted that he cared more for him than a foster sister ought to, and the two kissed. Afterwards they decided to leave the circus to find a new life together.
• Unaware that he was under the influence of Mutant 12, he made a dash for freedom with who he believed to be Amanda (the real Amanda was back at the circus); he was quickly apprehended by Stryker's soldiers and transported to the Weapon X facility in Alkali Lake. When Mutant 12's power finally wore off, he found himself trapped in a cell with an inhibitor collar around his neck. After refusing to cooperate with Stryker, his soldiers afterwards beat him to a bloody pulp for just praying. Meanwhile, the circus had packed up and left.
• He eventually attempted to comfort Lady Deathstrike, with whom he was trapped with in the same cell; it was then that she unleashed her claws for the first time- after learning the truth about the Weapon X project, he was knocked unconscious by Striker's guards. When he was given the chance to kill his abusive guards, Kurt declined, believing that his love for God will see him through; meanwhile he reassured a rapidly healing and unconscious Lady Deathstrike that they would escape. But when he was told that Amanda's love for him as a telepathic illusion to fool him and that she could never love a freak like him, he was wounded more than with all of Stryker's physical torture together.
• When Stryker finally managed to control his mind by means of a medical procedure, Kurt was forced to kill the soldier responsible for the revelation about Amanda. After returning to Alkali lake, he was finally ordered to kill the president. With tan makeup applied on his skin to make him look human, he stood undercover as he watched Alicia Vargas read the Abraham Lincoln speech; he ultimately failed in his attempt to kill the president and got away in the nick of time.
• Evading Storm and Jean grey proved difficult; when eventually forced down from the rafters, Kurt had no choice but to admit that he'd been controlled; shortly after getting patched up by Jean and admitting that his scars were of his own doing, he boarded the X-Jet. After saving Wolverine, Rogue, Iceman and Pyro from the police, the X-Jet was ripped open; Kurt teleported out of the X-Jet to save Rogue from plummeting down on Earth. It was Magneto however, who kept the X-Jet from crashing.
• Eventually saved and forced to set up camp in the woods, Nightcrawler accepted Rogue's thanks; seeing Rogue's question as a challenge, he teleported himself to hang from a tree branch, where he easily 'took a closer look'. Jean scanned his brain to find more information about Lake Alkali.
• At Storm's reguest, Nightcrawler eventually ignored his fear of teleporting himself into the unknown, and teleport himself and Storm into Cerebro where it became clear the little girl is an illusion - when Storm lowered the temperate levels to below freezing, the illusion was shattered. Nightcrawler then teleported Storm and the Professor out of the room before it collapsed. But lust like everyone aboard the jet, he was helpless as he watched Jean die. Later, he found himself at the White House, facing the president once more, this time peacefully.

His life had admittedly gotten just a touch crazier lately, but for the love of God, this came very to beating everything he's been through in the past few months. He'd appeared into a starkly white chamber, which had been sterile until he'd traveled through Azazel's realm, bringing with him the scent of fire and brimstone. In other words, it now smelled extremely sulfuric wherever he was at, and they - whoever his captors were - most certainly would have to open up a few windows to get rid of the scent.
"Es tut mir leid," he called out, in his thick, German accent, to whomever was listening. "I seem to have taken a wrong turn." His voice was hopeful, timid and - BAMF. A gush of air, the scent of brimstone filled the room, and yet, he still found himself clinging to the white walls of the same room, falling like a tired and anxious rat caught in a trap. Not again, bitte. But then he decided to take a chance, stop long enough to at least finish his sentence. "Kurt Wagner. I'm Kurt Wagner. In the circus, they called me the Incredible Nightcrawler," he rattled off, quickly as he could. And attempted it again- BAMF. To no avail.
"What is it that you want me to do," he finally asked, staring at the avatar of a woman who he vaguely knew, if only on the silver screen. But when she spoke up, he knew that this wasn't the Irish-American Belle the world had come to love. "Danke schön," Nightcrawler nodded. "I sympathize, but I am not your man-" Behind him, a door opened, and Kurt took his chance. BAMF!- only to end up in the hallway. That was getting to be particularly annoying, to say the very least.

TELEPORTATION: Nightcrawler is able to teleport to any place, as long as he knows where he is going. His teleportation gives him the appearance of being vaporized into a very brief puff of blue or pure black smoke or gas where ever he teleports to or from. His limit is roughly 3 miles, however the further he teleports, the greater the risk of injuring himself by re-appearring within a solid object or straining his body. As a teenager Nightcrawler could not teleport mulitple people without risk of extreme exhaustion or fatigue. Nightcrawler's teleports have a side effect of weakening his passenger, especially those who are non-teleporters. Using repeated teleports he was capable of repositioning himself and Archangel until he wore down his adversary and trapped him in a concrete and steel block. Though Archangel was able to recover and free himself, Nightcrawler's teleports exhausted the winged warrior long enough for Nightcrawler to rescue Professor X.
SHADOW CAMOUFLAGE: He has limited abilities to blend into and create gaseous, three-dimensional shadows. When he is hidden in the darkness, he shows that he is able to have great stealth. During his attack on the White House, Nightcrawler creates a cloudy shadow to confuse enemies, with his tail reaching out and grabbing enemies.
PREHENSILE TAIL: - Like Azazel, Nightcrawler's tail allows him to grab onto objects with relative ease. His tail is strong enough to not only support his body weight but also lift an adult man completely off the ground. It is deft enough to fight with like a sword or blunt weapon and its talon or stinger like tip is sharp enough to be a stabbing weapon. His tail was strong enough throw grown men with ease and even catch Angel off guard and slam the winged mutant into the electric cage. However his tail strength was no match for Archangel further enhanced strength.
SURFACE ADHESION: - Similar to Toad, Kurt can cling to surfaces like walls.
SUPERHUMAN ACROBATICS: Nightcrawler's agility, balance, reflexes, and bodily coordination are enhanced to levels beyond the human body's natural limits.
SUPERHUMAN SENSEN: - He possesses enhanced eyesight, enabling him to see perfectly in the dark His hearing also super acute. He can also see infra-red light. Nightcrawler also possesses a extra-sensory spatial awareness, when teleporting into an area that he is not looking at Nightcrawler claims there is a risk of re-appearing within a solid object. However his spatial awareness allows him to teleport, yet avoid re-appearing into an object that was moved or a person that is standing in what is normally open space. He has limited ability to predict other mutant teleports within his teleportation range.
SUPERHUMAN REFLEXES: Nightcrawler reflexes are enhanced to a point where he can effortlessly dodge automatic fire and decisively teleport before being shot at. His reflexes appear to be equal to Archangels.
SUPERHUMAN FLEXIBILITY: Nightcrawler's bones, muscle and joints have more elastic strength and durability allowing him to perform gymnastic and contortionist maneuvers without damaging his bone structure.
