There's no such thing as the friend zone. That's a myth made up and perpetuated by guys who have shit personalities and want to blame other people for their singledom. You're young and you haven't met that person yet, but don't sell yourself short!
And you can be whatever age you want to be. If you want to go by the calendar here, call yourself 15. There's not much difference between 14 and 15, except, maybe, a cup size. Asking him to hang out--go ice skating, just the two of you--isn't asking him for his hand in marriage. It's totally acceptable.
