Basic Information Full Name: William Arthur Weasley Nickname: Most people call him Bill. Age // Birthdate: November 29th, 1970// 33. Blood: Pureblooded. Residence: Shell Cottage, Tinworth village, Cornwall. Wand: 13 inches, cedar, Phoenix feather, spry. Occupation: Deputy Head of Cursebreaking, international division for Gringotts Wizarding Bank. Hogwarts House // Year of graduation Gryffindor, 1989. Head Boy. Appearance General: Bill's ginger ponytail used to be his defining trait in the Weasley family sea; however, now most people notice the scars which trail from Bill's left cheek down his neck before they see anything else. The ponytail and fang earring are now gone, but Bill's just as tall, lean, red-headed, pale, and freckled as he's always been. Bill also has a few tattoos, but none of them would be noticeable to anybody but his wife. Height // Build: 6'2, athletic, but thin. Hair // Eyes: Red hair, blue eyes. PB: Michael Fassbender. Personality First Meeting: "He looks scary, but he's pretty cool." Sexuality: Heterosexual, but more aptly described as Fleursexual these days (Bill's also gotten the hang of dad jokes). General: Likes: family, cursebreaking, himself, making money, adventure, learning new things and having new experiences, rare steak, watching the Weasley family quidditch matches from the sidelines, blondes, puzzles, bargaining. Dislikes: Death Eaters, judgmental or hypocritical people, werewolves, bullies, conflict, cold feet (literally and metaphorically), others making him feel guilty for being away from his family. Strengths: Intelligent, loyal, committed, Arithmancy, Ancient Runes, Charms, dueling, cursebreaking, dealing with goblins. Weaknesses: often makes questionable choices in muggle fashion, will do anything to keep his girls safe and happy, can be quick-tempered, somewhat vain, stubborn, will rebel simply for the sake of it, cannot totally control his moods near the full moon, can seem arrogant. Bill Weasley has always been a mess (although a very organized one) of contradictions. He's a family man through and through, yet he's always possessed a very strong sense of independence. He's smart enough to know when he's in over his head, but he's stubborn enough to barrel in head first anyway. Bill's always laid back and relaxed, but he's very particular about his appearance and his achievements. He hates a fight, but he'll be the first into the fray if a loved one is in danger. Any clear rules he sets for himself (treat others the way you want to be treated, always do your best), apply to the way he cares for his family; however, his family are his blind spot, so anybody who causes harm or distress to his family is likely to find their future dealings with Bill Weasley to be very difficult. He is certainly not above being petty for the sake of the people he loves, and he has no qualms about defending his own. In many ways, Bill Weasley is a typical first child. He has always been a high achiever, a planner for the future, and a solid role model (even despite his rebellious streak). Having six younger siblings taught him patience and responsibility in his childhood, and his time alone at Hogwarts helped him to learn the importance of independence and individuality. While Bill has always enjoyed the trappings of cursebreaking-- the rebellion in moving to Egypt fresh out of school, the very advanced and specific set of skills required to do the job, the generous salary-- his family is always a higher priority than his work. Sometimes he can't believe his own luck: to have married the love of his life, survived a war, and have two beautiful daughters is no small miracle. Sometimes it's not as easy to separate the priorities of work and family, but he does have an excellent partner who helps him keep his life in proper perspective. Fleur is his closest and sole confident in this manner. Bill might share some of his concerns for his young family and the difficulties of his career with his father or Charlie, but only after he has sought council from his wife. Otherwise, he doesn't have much use for the opinions of others simply because his partner's is the one that matters the most to him. Bill has scars, physical and emotional, from the war, but he does his best to appreciate the life he has each and every day. His mood sometimes shifts with the lunar cycle, it just depends on his overall state during the full moon. At times, the moon seems to have no affect on him at all; at others, he's been known to act surly and possessive. Bill continues to work toward managing and controlling some of the lycanthropoc impulses, but he is known to let his altered instincts get the better of him. He's working to increase his sense of self-control, it's something he must do for his daughters. Constant vigilance. Hobbies: spending time with family, reading (he especially likes travel guides), de-gnoming the garden at the Burrow, tinkering with new charms and spells, playing prince and princesses with Victoire and Dominique. History Childhood: Give an idea of how your character grew up, what their family was like and how their time at Hogwarts went. Bill Weasley's childhood was relatively normal, save for the fact that every two or three years his parents would bring home another sibling. He learned his place as firstborn and eldest child at a very young age-- being Mummy's special helper was quite the responsibility. Bill learned how to be an example to his younger siblings, teaching them how to properly put on their socks and shoes (socks first, always) and how to most effectively avoid their mother's wrath. Granted, he still found a way to make enough mischief for himself (do NOT ask Arthur Weasley about what happened when Bill got into his battery collection), but he was always a good boy who looked after his brothers and sister. Things changed for Bill when he went to Hogwarts, but the transition into independence wasn't a difficult one. He was bright, confident, and undeniably cool. He quickly made fast friends, and he excelled in all of his classes. Academics became very important to Bill, balanced easily with an active social life, and he earned the titles of Prefect in his 5th year and Head Boy in his 7th year. Adulthood: What has your character been doing since they left Hogwarts? Following graduation from Hogwarts in 1989, Bill accepted a cursebreaking position in Egypt for Gringotts. His family was shocked by Bill's unexpected choice to move so far away from home, but he wanted to spread his wings. Working for Gringotts was the chance for Bill to make a name for himself, a chance to be something other than just another ginger in a long line of Weasleys. It was also a chance for him to make a lot of coin and have a lot of fun doing it. Bill went a little wild after his move to Egypt. He started to grow his hair out, he got some tattoos, he pierced his ear, and he bought an outrageously expensive pair of dragon hide boots. Bill still thinks very fondly of these days-- he worked hard in tombs and catacombs, he learned the tricks of his trade, he polished his craft, and he did everything he could to enjoy his personal freedom. Following his trip to the Quidditch World Cup in 1994, Bill began to pay more attention to the political landscape at home in England. He'd had very little interest in following the disbanded followers of You-Know-Who since he moved out of the country, but the display following the quid ditch match was truly eye-opening. In 1995, Bill accompanied his mother in support of Harry Potter during the Third Task of the Tri-Wizard Tournament at Hogwarts. Watching her compete in the Tri-Wizard Tournament was Bill's first encounter with Fleur Delacour, and he knew better than to watch the girl too closely while she was in mortal peril, but he was definitely impressed by her performance. Following Voldemort's return, Bill returned home to England and accepted a desk job at Gringotts main branch. Working with the goblins was absolutely tedious, but he knew that being with his family had to be his top priority. He bravely joined the newly reunited Order of the Phoenix and was tasked with researching goblin loyalties. It was an unenjoyable, although necessary job. His time at Gringotts became much more interesting when Fleur Delacour accepted a job with the bank and sought him out as an English teacher. Bill couldn't have been more thrilled; he was hopelessly smitten. They began seeing one another, and the following summer, Bill did the most terrifying thing he'd ever done in his life and introduced Fleur to his family. He was more than impressed with the way Fleur held her own against his mother, and Bill had enough confidence in his mother's love for him to not worry about the way his girlfriend and mother's personalities often clashed. Everything would work itself out with time, he hoped, because he had every intention of making Fleur Delacour a permanent part of his life. Granted, he hadn't counted on it taking a werewolf attack to sort out his mother's distaste for his future wife, but the two women reconciled over Bill's hospital bed following his run in with Fenrir Greyback in 1997. Bill and Fleur were married on August 1st, 1997. It wasn't the ideal time to begin a marriage, but nothing was going to stop the couple from celebrating the happiness they brought one another. The wedding festivities disbanded when the Ministry fell and Death Eaters invaded their wedding reception. Following their wedding, Bill and Fleur moved into Shell Cottage on the outskirts of Tinworth. They accepted Ron into their home when he abandoned Harry Potter and Hermione Granger during the course of their hunt for Horcruxes, and while Bill worried about his younger brother, he did not judge his actions. He and Fleur kept Ron's secret while he was there, and they accepted the reunited trio following their escape from Malfoy Manor. Shell Cottage was placed under the Fidelus Charm while Bill and Fleur hosted Ron and his friends, and Bill offered Harry advice in dealing with goblins during this time. When the call came, Bill and Fleur joined the Battle of Hogwarts on May 2nd, 1998. Fred's death at the battle was utterly devastating. Bill had never anticipated such bloodshed in the end, despite his own injuries and the sacrifices the people he loved had made. But life continued on, and Fleur would not allow him to wallow in his brother's death or his difficulties in dealing with the effects of Greyback's attack. The couple celebrated the birth of their daughter Victoire on May 2nd, 2000. Dominique followed on December 1st, 2002. Bill's still learning the delicate dance of how to balance fatherhood with a promising career and a fierce partner, but so far, he's enjoying every minute. It would be nice to have a larger family, though. Miscellaneous List three random facts about your character: • Bill now prefers to eat red meat as often as possible, and as rare as he can safely consume. It's one of the more innocuous changes that took place in his life following the Greyback attack. • Bill has his sights set on someday becoming the Head of Cursebreaking at Gringotts. He likes having a managerial role at the bank, and he thinks a raise would take more pressure off of his family; however, he does not think he will receive this position while his wife is also working in the same department. • Bill would someday like to live outside the UK or Europe again. He knows that it's not exactly feasible with a family, but he thinks they could make it work. Social life: Bill is related to all of his closest friends. His family know him better than anybody else does, and he sort of prefers to keep his life private in that manner. He sees former members of the Order as an extension of his family, and he feels more comfortable discussing his war experiences with those people, but he is still hesitant to share too many vulnerabilities with them. When he must, Bill is able to put on the charm for social functions at the Ministry or Gringotts, but he does not thrive in an atmosphere surrounded by many people to please-- he simply sees it as an extension of work. Not that he's closed off to new people and new friends, he's simply more reserved around people he doesn't know very well-- and the scars on his face usually do a well enough job of keeping people at a distance. Generally, he's quite affable. Community involvement: Bill's been known to sporadically attend dueling exercises at Finnigan's. It's a nice physical outlet to have, but he would consider it an occasional indulgence-- not a weekly practice. He's also been known to attend yoga with Fleur during his lunch break from work, but again, not on a regular basis. Bill would probably benefit from attending battlescars group meetings; however, he's not currently comfortable sharing his feelings related to war experience in such an open setting. He could possibly make himself available one evening a week to offer advice to those who are looking to travel abroad, as he has plenty of experience himself in that area. Samples Provide two of the following three options: *One public log: Ben Savage *One sample journal entry: There is no sound I enjoy more than Victoire's giggle or the clink of coins in my pocket, but the silence of babies and goblins both in the evening is nearly as wonderful. Today's observations: Victoire's not content unless she's gone through at least three different outfits in a day, only wanted butter beans with tomato for lunch (disgusting), and asked for French plaits in her hair prior to bed. Dominique continues to refuse my attempts to get her to stand unaided despite the fact that she is absolutely capable-- must outwit the clinging toddler tomorrow. Dislikes eating carrot, but loved egg scramble. Weasley III: still TBD OOC Name: Emily Age: 25 Contact: coffeebeandream@gmail.com and coffeebeandream via AIM Timezone: Central Plot Ideas: • Anything with the Weasley family! I love the idea of Bill trying to establish an individual identity for his family while maintaining relationships with his siblings and parents. • Former Order members! Bill needs friends who aren't his family-- especially people with whom he could potentially share war experiences. • Colleagues! Cursebreakers! Gringotts employees! There's a definite difference between Bill@home and Bill@work, and I'd love to play with that duality. |
