107 - Memoirs II [Private]
More glimpses into my past haunt my dreams, and even awake I am drawn to familiar facets that evade full recognizance. I'll continue documenting these window eaves of my past glory and power. One day I will recover completely from the curse of the gods and will have my vengeance.
(Written in a spellbound book that Selene keeps in a pocket of magic along with the rest of the spell books she has been studying:)
I remember you now. Eliphas, where did you go astray, my darling? The great orator and wounded soldier. Member of the Roman Senate and then betrayed by your wife Aurelia, who only had eyes for the dashing and dull general Mascius. It's only appropriate that you then betrayed me, as well. All men do. But every soul in Rome was to be mine, were it not for you. The immortality and eternal love I granted you as a gift was used as the perfect weapon against you for an endless cursed life of torture, needing to feed on the blood of mankind. The last I remember of you, they had buried you alive.
I remember Alexander the Great. Imaginative on the battle field as well as in bed. Like most humans, however, his usefulness ended. The Greeks, though. My sights changed and I sought to become like the gods worshiped so devotedly. Hellenism, they call it now. I now curse the day I was first introduced to the Olympians.
I remember wandering again after the fall of Rome. For centuries I moved across Europe and into the Middle East, Egypt, India, China. So many echoes of the lives I absorbed ring through my mind in such a blur that it's hard to distinguish one from another, their lives from mine. One might go mad with the voices I retain from the touch I gave them. Fortunately, my tastes are much more distinguishing now.
