PERSONALITY

"Not a perfect soldier, but a good man."

This is Steve Rogers in a nutshell, at the very core of who he is as a person. All he wants is to do the right thing. To his own standards and ideals, sure. But for everyone around him, too. He's never been able to walk away from a situation, or a person, when he sees things turning south. No matter the consequences for him.

He wasn't always so good at standing up for what he believed in, his physical limitations making that more of a challenge than it is now. That never stopped him, though. It didn't matter how big, or fast, the other guy was. What mattered was what was right. Selflessness plays a big part in how Steve approaches any situation. He'll willingly lay down his life if it means standing up for what is right. Though that is at the centre of all he does, Steve knows he doesn't always get it right.

He's constantly striving to find that balance in a world which is so changed from the one he grew up in. The modern world doesn't bring with it just technological changes, but societal ones, too. Coming from a childhood of sickness and poverty, to growing up in the midst of a war, there's plenty that he could find to be miserable about. But Steve's always been more pragmatic than that. If there was a job to do, he would make sure and get it done. Steve is a pretty shy kind of guy, for all that his "superhero" persona is larger than life. In the real world he's far more reserved, taking time to really let people in to see the real him.

When Doctor Erskine explains why he chose Steve for Project Rebirth, he gives him words that Steve will continue to rule so many of his decisions, and be the yardstick to which he lives - "Not always a perfect soldier, but a good man." Whilst Steve had never waivered in facing up against those things he saw as injustices in the past, the serum has given him the ability to stop them, too.

Losing Bucky during the war is something that still haunts Steve to this day, even though he has him back in his life. Knowing everything his friend went through, and that he could have, should have been able to save him, is a guilt he'll always carry.

POWERS & ABILITIES

Super Soldier
The serum given to him by Erskine has enhanced Steve's strength, stamina, agility, and durability to what can only be described as super human levels. Steve is also immune to drug intoxication, as his metabolism works too quickly for them to take any effect.
Fighting
Through his time in the war and beyond, Steve has picked up a lot of different fighting styles, and has become accomplished with a number of weapons. His first preference and what he will always be most comfortable with is his shield, which he uses as a weapon as much as for defence.
Strategy
Steve's role as Captain has become more than just the honourary title he was originally given. He's an excellent strategist, and can plan his way out of (or into) just about any situation. He approaches conflict with a level headedness and pragmatism needed to get the job done.
