Appearance:Penny stands 5”6 in her stockinged feet and has shortsighted blue eyes and curly brown hair inherited from her mother. She tends to get freckles across her nose when she spends too long in the sun. Penny favours neat blouses and crisp ironed robes. Her walk is unhurried but has a definite sense of direction to it – she is only given to wandering aimlessly when confronted with a lot of books in a small space. She has two identifying features ; one on the inside of her right thigh from childhood and a birthmark at the nape of her neck

Mother: Rachael Clearwater nee Gregory»» Penny was always incredibly close to her family and their disappearance in 1997 left her heartbroken. She had no clue as to where they had gone and mourned the disappearance of having her mothers advice. When they finally got back in contact in early 2001, Penny was overjoyed. Things are back to normal between them and they keep in contact regularly via telephone and letters and the occasional apparition to Orkney.

Father: David Clearwater »» David Clearwater always said he married a witch ; he didn’t realise till later how right he was. When war broke out again, his wife begged him to run away with their daughters. Penny was in Europe and presumably safe and after losing her brother in the first War, she wasn’t prepared to risk her family again. David left. Leaving behind everything he’d ever known and praying his eldest would pull through. The Clearwaters moved to live as Muggles in Kirkwall and the former bank manager found a niche running the local post office.

Siblings:»»Helen Clearwater.»»Helen effectively gave up magic when she and her family left behind the wizarding world. In fact, she attended muggle secondary and focused on getting her exams so she could attend University. Magic is now no longer a part of her life – though she is glad to have her sister back. Others of importance?proprio:For Pennys 11th birthday, she got a sister. That’s how she would describe her friendship with the bright, bubbly redhead. And that’s how close they are to this day. There is nothing that she wouldn’t do for her. morningwood and rockstarkeeperare two of her closest friends and she tries to set them up – with other people – regularly and without any embarrassment. She’s happy, she wants them to be just as happy.

Post 1998 History: After the events of the battle, Penny found her involvement with the Order of the Phoenix coming to light. Meghan and Orsino were more annoyed at her for putting herself at risk than anything else.

They eventually forgave her and Penny took part in helping to rebuild the Wizarding World however she could. In September 1998 she finally gained her Mastery in Wards and after making several feet of lists , decided to pursue her passion. She applied to become an Apprentice Professor under Professor Flitwick. Around that time , Orsino asked her to move in with him.

She did and now shares a flat wit him, his foul mouthed parrot, and two over excitable dogs that can’t seem to comprehend that the bed is not their personal sleeping area. Its perfection. And she’s willing to put up with the crazy fans trying to crawl through the windows at night, the marriage proposals and the other paraphernalia that comes with being in a relationship with the wizarding worlds foremost drummer.

Of course, the girls don’t get into the flat ; Penny didn’t receive her Mastery for sitting prettily.

With the return of her family, Orsino got to meet her parents and after five years her fathers finally (almost) stopped glaring at him. Last June, Professor Flitwick retired and this is her first year flying solo.

Professor Clearwater has a very nice ring to it.
