What a lovely event hosted by the Carrows. I couldn't have been happier to have such a worthy cause to donate my money too.

The women, of course, looked exquisite (especially you, my Lady Alice). How it is that I've come to find a community of such gorgeous women, I will never know.

I do hope everyone enjoyed their evening, and got home safely. I know I had a splendid evening in the end.

Marauders
Shall we run, tomorrow night? I've cleared my schedule.

Oh Peter, you are too sweet. I looked old, I can't believe how old I've gotten. But you were handsome as ever, and you're such a lovely dancer!

Peter

I think I'll be working late tomorrow night. Care to join me for dinner after?

Alice, your youth is quite infinite. The day you look old, I am sure I will be long dead.

Alice
I would be ecstatic.

Oh stop, you're so sweet to say. You always flatter me. You're such a dear friend.

Peter

Excellent. Meet me in the DMLE? You can show me that restaurant you think is more my speed.

That's what friends are for.

Alice
I would be happy to impress the best that I can. Wear something nice, or at least bring a change of clothes.

It's true. And you are a very excellent friend to me, Peter. I never tell you enough that I appreciate you.

Peter

Of course. How nice shall I go then?

I never tire of hearing it.

Alice
How nice you dress will decide where we eat. I will leave that up to you.

I appreciate you, very much. You're one of the constants in my life, and I rather need that.

Peter

Well I hope I don't disappoint you then. I'm looking forward to adventure.

I look forward to it as well.

Peter

Excellent. It shall make a tedious long night have a bit of a bright light.

Likewise, Alice.

Indeed.

Oh Frank, don't be jealous of Peter! He's like a brother! He's just being nice. Of course I remember you're my husband. I'm not likely to forget the most important person in my life and the father to my children am I?

He's being more than nice. Brothers don't flirt with their sisters! You don't just stop being in love with someone because she got married.

I should hope not.

Frank Longbottom, he is NOT in love with me! And he isn't flirting, he's not even being serious. Darling, don't be jealous of him. He hasn't very many friends, you know.

You know it's you that I love, always. If he ever made a serious pass at me...well, I hope he didn't because I couldn't be friends with him, and I have been friends with him nearly all my life. Does that assuage your fears, my love?

Are you certain? Ask him. Just because he doesn't have many friends doesn't give him license to flirt with you.

I'm not afraid, Alice. I trust you- but I don't trust him. Friends or not, I do not like the way he acts toward you.

Yes, I am certain. We've been friends in all these years and he's never once been anything other than cordial...even a bit formal. I silly flirt with James all the time, it's just a joke, love. If it bothers you I wouldn't dream of doing so, but I never though of it as a serious flirtation. He knows I'm married and love no one but you.

If you trust me, I don't see why you are leery of Peter. I'm serious, Frank, if he ever tried to make a pass at me we certainly wouldn't be friends any longer. I love you. And only you. Always.

Yes, but James never wanted to challenge me for you. Oh, you're sounding ridiculous, Frank. Yes, Alice, it bothers me. But saying that makes me sound like an arse, doesn't it? I shouldn't aim to control you or to dictate how you act around your friends. There is just...something about him that sets me on edge.

Trusting you doesn't mean I have to like how he treats you. I love you. I always have. But would you like it if I was flirting with another woman? Can you understand how it feels, from my side, to see someone else trying to step into my place? Even if he has no chance, I still don't like it.

I'm sorry Frank. I never meant for my silliness to hurt you. I would never...you know how much I love you, I don't want to make you uncomfortable or on edge. I won't any longer, all right? You're not an arse, you're a darling that I love. I'll talk to him, let him know it bothers you for him to compliment me, I'm sure he'll be suitably embarrassed to have caused you pain and stop.

I might be jealous if I thought it was serious, yes. I'm sorry, love, it was never such on my end. I love you, more than words can express.

I know you didn't. You do not have to apologize, Alice.

That wasn't a fair comparison, I realize now. Because you're right- I couldn't flirt with another woman. (Just as I know you were not flirting with Peter.) But if another woman was flirting with me? I can't imagine you'd be very happy with her.

But none of it matters. I'm the one you come home to every night, and no matter what he says, he'll never have that.

Of course I should apologize. I didn't mean to hurt you, but that doesn't mean that it was right that I did. I never want to cause you a minute pain, my love.

No, I wouldn't. I'm sorry that you were made to feel that way, unintentionally or no. You know I have only ever had eyes for you.

Of course I do. The only man now and forever. He never...he thought that once long ago but he was disillusioned and thought my friendship was something else. He knows better now. He ought to know, the world ought to know, that Frank Longbottom is the only man for me. Nothing and no one can change that.

I mean more that it's not like I have the disposable income to make the kind of donations those events are thrown to encourage. Besides I'm saving for a new bat. Those are for grown ups.

[Uncle Pete]

It was. And I'm glad too. Besides, I already know Logan looks cute in a suit because he took me to the prom, so we didn't need another fancy shindig to dress up for.
