{| personality. |} On the surface, Tonks is one of the most friendly people you are likely to meet. She has no problem at all with meeting strangers and often seems to foster something of an instantaneous connection with people. She is the kind of person that has no problem trying new things and has absolutely no social phobias. She loves being in She's very outgoing and has always had the capability to try things that other people are afraid of. There are very few things that she's actually fears; she loves taking a little bit of risk. However, the key thing is that she makes the decision to take the risk. While her capacity to take risks may make her seem rebellious and uninhibited, she's not actually like that at all. She got into a bit of trouble every now and then at school, but it was never for anything big – she actually pulled a few minor pranks or even got in trouble for fighting some kind of bully. She isn't recklessly rebellious and doesn't feel the need to pointlessly pull against authority. She understands the purpose of authority and she understands the need for some kind of system; she just has little problem with questioning (and then making sure) that that power is in the right hands. It's why she's quite comfortable being an Auror. On top of that, Tonks has a fierce need to protect her friends and family. On top of easily making friends, when she does foster a deep friendship, she tends to get very emotionally attached and invested. She is perhaps a little too emotional, but, for Tonks, the whole point of living is to be with other people. She's a very loving and supportive friend in that regard. She's an entirely stubborn and persistent individual. When she devotes herself to something, she is diligent. This is certainly part of the reason why she was able to get into the Auror program. It was what she always knew she wanted to do; otherwise, she might have not gotten the grades she needed. She was naturally gifted in many areas, but she still needed to apply herself. Strengths: Dueling, spell work, protective charms, optimism, perseverance, dedicated Weaknesses:Clumsiness, baking, cooking, stubborn, emotional Likes: Sweets, combat boots, leather jackets, flying, bright colors, the Weird Sisters, comfortable clothing, loud music, fire whiskey, staying up late, sleeping in late, Muggle movies Dislikes:The dark, mention of the Blacks, pureblood mania, Death Eaters, the cold, hospitals, bullies Motivation: Protecting her family, measuring up to expectations Fears: Not falling in love, having to watch members of her family die, being alone
{| appearance. |} Being a Metamorphmagus, Tonks has the ability to change her appearance at will. However, when she isn't playing around with her appearance, she normally has light brown hair. She likes to keep it around shoulder length; her eyes are rather dark. She's quite pale, which is perhaps the strongest characteristic she inherited from her mother's side of the family. She's slightly above average height for a woman, hitting around 5'10. She is built rather average for a woman; she isn't quite slim due to the amount of muscle that she has from being an Auror, but its hardly enough that it attracts a lot of attention. She actually only has her ears pierced once and she has no tattoos. She has a few scars, most of them picked up from when she was younger and fell down a lot. She ignores most of these. The one scar that truly bothers her is a thin one she has down the back of her calf; she received it during a particularly rigorous training exercise where she made a poor choice. Of course, she can hide it, but she knows it's still there. However, she loves to take advantage of the fact that she can change her appearance. She very rarely leaves her hair its natural color; she most readily expresses how she feels with her hair. She enjoys bright, vibrant colors and is perpetually messing around with hair styles. She will change other facets of her appearance, but not nearly as much as her hair. In terms of clothing, she tends to wear a lot of long jackets, many of which are made of protective fabric. Underneath that, she'll often wear whatever she wants, assembling odd assortments of Muggle clothing, but often with something of a “punk” edge. It's very common for her to wear gloves with the fingertips cut off (because, honestly, she needs the dexterity for her wand) and combat boots. Her boots are perhaps her favorite article of clothing. She likes a lot of jewelry as well, but she's perpetually aware of what will interfere with her work as an Auror. Often, that means that she'll only end up wearing earrings or some kind of necklace (usually a choker). Because she changes her appearance so readily, she doesn't like messing around with anything that takes her too long or takes too much work. She actually walks with a slight instep on her left foot, which she likes to use as an excuse for her clumsiness. She does her best to hide it, however, fearing that it will be perceived as a weakness. pb: Gwen Stefani
{| history. |} family history:Nymphadora Tonks was born early in the morning on an unseasonably warm spring day. Always one to get ahead, she also happened to be born nearly a week and half before her due date. She was born with a headful of dark brown hair, but within a week, was copying whatever colors were around her. Her first color of choice was purple, which, subsequently, would end up becoming her favorite color. Tonks had a very happy childhood. Despite growing up during the time of the first war, Tonks had a relatively normal childhood. She understood that there were bad things that were going on in the world, but she was entirely certain that her parents could protect her from anything – and besides, she knew, without a doubt, that they were on the side of the good guys. The most she really heard about the war was when her parents would go quiet and sometimes friends would stop coming over the house, disappearing all together. They also talked very little about her mum's family, but it wasn't really until she went to Hogwarts that she understood everything that had happened there. For a long time, she simply understood that they didn't talk about them. It mattered little, because she grew up with plenty of people around her. There were a few moments where she wished that she could have had a little brother or sister, but she wasn't really ever without playmates. She tended to rough house a lot with the other children in her neighborhood. She also saw a fair amount of her mum's cousin, Sirius, and enjoyed being around his friends. She was actually babysat a few times alongside Harry, but she didn't really see the point of him then. He didn't do much. In any case, there was no way that she could avoid what happened at the end of war; she knew everyone who was involved and was very confused. She didn't understand how anyone could think that Sirius was the one that hurt James and Lily; somehow, though, he slipped into the ranks of the rest of Andromeda's family. They didn't talk about him. For the next year, Tonks was a little quieter than usual. Perhaps this trend would have persisted, but when she entered Hogwarts, she was coaxed back out of her shell. She was terribly excited to get a chance to go to Hogwarts; she made friends easily and was able to entertain everyone with her Metamorphmagus abilities. She tended to do very well in school and applied herself at least a little; she was never exactly a teacher favorite, perhaps being a little too much of a prankster, but she excelled a lot in school. Tonks had always known from a very young age that she wanted to be an Auror. She didn't exactly remember the moment that she had decided; it was just one of those things that young wizards and witches all wanted to be, but, in Tonks' case, she never grew out of it. She buckled down even more in her last few years at Hogwarts and managed to get the scores that she needed in order to qualify to get into Auror training. When she entered Auror training, she somehow managed to catch the eye of Alastor Moody. She wasn't quite sure why he took an interest in her, but when he offered to take care of her training, Tonks certainly wasn't about to turn him down. She had heard plenty about what he had done in the first war, and Tonks figured that if she was going to become a good Auror, she might as well learn from the best. Her Auror training probably was the thing that Tonks took most seriously in her life. Well she still went out and was incredibly social, but she wasn't about to let anything interfere with her chances of becoming an Auror. It was during this portion of her life that she really started to grow up a little and saw a lot of things that made her mature. She ended up excelling at most of tests; the one she had trouble with, of course, was Stealth, while she completely blew away Concealment and Disguise. In any case, she was overjoyed at becoming a full-fledged Auror. She moved into a flat of her own to be closer to her work and has now been devoting herself to her work for the last few months. {| misc. |} What year in time was your character transported from? 1994 What is your character's deepest darkest secret? Tonks used an Unforgivable on one of her first Auror missions; she was afraid that the guy she was after was going to get away, which was something she couldn't allow. She reacted purely on instinct and managed to bring him down that way. Somehow, no one ever found out, and Tonks allowed everyone to believe that she had used a stunning spell.
