Application for DANIELLE MARJOLIJN MOYET
DANI MOYET |
BASICS |
FULL NAME Danielle Marjolijn Moyet AGE 16 BIRTHDATE April 16th 2006 ZODIAC Cancer HOUSE/SCHOOL & YEAR Beauxbâtons 6th year. Had Dani attended Hogwarts, she would have likely been sorted as Ravenclaw or Slytherin. The former because she’s astute, reads widely and takes a certain satisfaction in knowing things she shouldn’t, or that most other’s don’t. While it would have been her strongest bet, Slytherin would have been likely in that she’s not above working all angles available to her to get her way. BLOODLINE Muggleborn SEXUALITY Very straight (and very flirty). CHARACTER JOURNAL ![]() |
APPEARANCE |
HAIR COLOR Naturally a brunette, but Dani is in love with Didi’s hair and has taken to charming hers platinum blond for a the last few months. EYE COLOR Green HEIGHT 5’2 WEIGHT 120lbs GENERAL DESCRIPTION Dani is wee, but packs a lot into her insubstantial height. Growing up helping out around the family vineyard has given her more strength than people expect. She’s already rounding into an hourglass figure, all flowing curves and a tiny waist, and is blessed with a well endowed chest. Dani’s delicate features and colouring have a lot to do with how people perceive her; she looks a lot more like a pretty porcelain doll up on a shelf than a farm girl. She has her mother’s green eyes, long lashes, and full lips that are quick to quirk into smirk or smile. Favouring pigtails, she always has a spare hair elastic or two about her person. PLAYED BY Emily Browning [And in her natural brunette state] |
ACADEMICS |
PREFECT/HEAD Perhaps a prefect, though she’s content not to be. I guess it depends on faculty opinion? QUIDDITCH Beater, and happily underestimated at that. She flies more like a seeker but relishes the role of defending her teammates and attacking their opponents. A student commentating a Beauxbâtons match once referred to her as la petite mort, in reference to her deadly aim. (She likes to think the other meaning applies as well.) Dani is strong for her size, and her speed makes up for the power she lacks in comparison to bigger bodies. WAND Oak, 9 ½ inches, Unicorn tail hair core BOGGART Fire; more specifically, her family home (and the vineyards) ablaze with her family trapped inside. A lot of her family identity and happiest memories are all tied up in the vineyards, and seeing her home and those she loves most under threat terrifies her. PATRONUS Sugar Glider. Dani had to look it up after she first cast it in its corporeal form, and was amused to find that like her, it is a small, flying creature. PET Tawny owl, Félix, and at home, her horse Thowra COURSES Monday - Transfiguration [A] 10:00-11:45. Monday - Defense Against the Dark Arts [A] 13:00–14:45 Tuesday - Potions [A] 8:00-9:45. PERSONALITY |
For most of her life, people (other than her family) have underestimated Dani, assuming she would be unable to do things because she’s small, or female, or since she started at a magical school, muggleborn. Such assumptions have made her a determined individual, resolute that she’ll prove such detractors wrong. She doesn't always win out, of course, but more often than not she works hard to show that there’s more to her than meets the generalising eye. Being the baby of the family, Dani enjoys and knows how to get attention, but that isn’t to say she’s a show off. She does have an appreciation for quiet and solitude, and reads voraciously. This appetite for books has contributed to her quick wit; her humour tends to be snarky and sarcastic, though usually not mean (unless you deserve it or you’re too stupid to understand the joke in the first place). If you matter to her, or if she finds herself needing to be, Dani can be very sweet. There’s an easy generosity to her, and she’s willing to talk to anyone and give them a chance; Dani loves people and conversation. She’s steadfastly loyal to her friends and team mates, and tends to feel protective towards them, part of why she suits the role of Beater so well. Dani loves to flirt. She’s learning more and more how to use her looks to get her way, and deep down she likes the feeling of power that gives her. Almost unfailingly, peoples’ initial perception is that she’s sweet and innocent. Dani plays into this a lot, aware that some guys want to corrupt that, or that others think it can’t possibly be true and she must be hiding a wicked mind and a knowing smile beneath her pigtails. There’s something of the Lolita to her; she’s well aware that her physicality begets certain attitudes and it amuses her to toy with them. At the same time, she’s not a Vamp. With big brothers and a host of farm hands around the vineyard, Dani grew up with a lot of male influence, and can kick back and hang out guys just as well as girls. Facts and quirks: - Dani is trilingual. Her native tongue is French, however she also speaks English and Dutch. - She talks in her sleep. - Dani also talks to her broomstick. It’s a habit she picked up from her father with his car. She’s convinced it helps. - There’s a scar on her right thigh from a fight she had with Roland when they were young. - Papa began teaching her to drive over the summer. |
HOME LIFE |
PARENTS Alexandre Bastien Moyet (51, Cellar Master for Moyet Cognac, French muggle) Jozefien Claudia Moyet (nee de Boer) (49, primary school teacher, Dutch muggle)SIBLINGS Augustijn Gérard - age 23 (1999) - holds a degree in viticulture and is currently studying a second in business, hoping to one day head the company. Roland Braam - age 19 (2003) - shop assistant living in Paris, saving before he attends university to study literature and international relations RESIDENCE The family home overlooks their vineyards in Saint-Sulpice, near the city of Cognac in South-West France, and has been extended and renovated by generations of Moyets. Dani’s parents also have an apartment in the Latin Quarter in Paris if they need to be in the city for any reason. She tags along for shopping if at all possible. HISTORY The Moyet family have been producing Cognac brandy since 1864. Alexandre, current Cellar Master and Dani’s father, was in Rotterdam presenting his wares at a competition when he made the acquaintance of school teacher Jozefien de Boer. Alexandre will tell you they kept in contact when he returned home, though in actual fact Jozefien spurned his initial advances, given the fact that she was already in a relationship. That union was not to be, however, and a few months after it sputtered out, she gave the tenacious Frenchman a chance. Two years later they were married, and soon began raising a family in the sunshine of South-west France. The youngest (and ever the smallest) of three, Dani denies the fact that she was spoiled, per se, but will admit she enjoyed a measure of leniency. She’s never known a home where she didn’t feel loved and safe, remembering sunshine and smiles and being chased through the vineyards by her Papa and brothers, or snuggling in Maman’s lap with stories. She believes she got away with a fair bit, but a lot of that is down to her parents and elder brothers humouring her. And while humour her they did, they also taught her to punch and play poker, wrestled with her and expected the small girl to keep up with them if she wanted to be included in their play. Little legs couldn’t always carry her far enough, which led to pouting to her Papa on Dani’s part, but on the whole, she learned to be fast and fearless, giving anything the boys could do (especially if they said she couldn’t) a try. Being the oldest, Augustijn’s always been the more protective one, willing to help out when Dani needs it or grab something off a tall shelf she can’t possibly reach. Roland, whose closer age meant they spent more time together when Augustijn traipsed off to big school, is more likely to stand aside and make Dani do things for herself, see if she can rise to the challenge. This earned him a huff and a foot stamp, more often than not, but deep down she’s grateful that he forces her to prove herself and takes her seriously when she needs it. Odd things seemed to sometimes happen around Dani when her emotions flared. The day after he’d upset her, Roland woke up with bright blue freckles, and somehow the pumpkin she was served vanished from her plate without Dani ever suffering a bite. The explanation for these oddities came when the Moyets learned they had a witch in the family, an announcement met with surprise, pride, and a great deal of curiosity. Dani thrived at Beauxbâtons. It wasn’t that she didn’t feel she’d belonged in the muggle world; moreso that she was discovering a deep, essential truth about herself. There is so much about the Wizarding world she continues to find novel, amusing and exciting. She is grateful, however, for how she’s grown up, as she sees great advantages in being able to participate in both worlds. Of course she was homesick at first, but the excitement of learning how to use her abilities soon brought her through it. She owls home often, though. Dani settled in well, as even a magical school has all the usual nuances and rhythms of a herd of teenagers. A muggleborn, Dani had never flown until she started at Beauxbâtons, and while she showed a natural aptitude, she wasn’t confident enough to try out for Quidditch until her third year. Even shorter then, nothing much was expected of her. Dani found she rather liked it that way; being underestimated gave her chance to show what she could do, and though she didn’t make the team that year, the tiny girl got herself noticed. In her fourth year she made the reserve team, promoted to the starting lineup a few months in after one of the beaters was injured. |

FACT SHEET |
5 Things EVERYONE Knows About Me 1. My family has been making Cognac since 1864, and I know a lot more about wine than most people my age. 2. I am the only witch in a family of muggles. 3. I make amazing macarons, and if you ask nicely, I shall share some. 4. I think mornings are horrible, evil things. 5. I can speak French (of course), English and Dutch, and would like Sandro to help me with Italian some day. 5 Things MY FRIENDS Know About Me 1. I love my brothers very much, and am glad I don't have any younger siblings because being the baby girl is perfect. 2. My Papa has taught me to drive, and thinks it is important I can take care of myself in the muggle world, just in case. 3. I did not own my own broomstick until I was 13, and I talk to him. (Oui, it is male.) 4. I like to read just as much as I like to play with pretty boys. 5. I had a crush on the Transfiguration Professor at Beauxbâtons last year. 5 Things NO ONE Knows About Me 1. I'm not sure about pursuing a professional Quidditch career, and am hoping this year will help me to decide. 2. My Maman was relieved to find there was an explanation for all the odd things that my accidental magic caused (and that there wasn't something wrong with me) - she never said this to me but I overheard her telling my Papa one night. It upset me at the time but I understand now. 3.I sometimes wonder what things would be like if Didi and I were in love, and in a way I think it is a little sad we are not. But he is such a very good friend that I would not want things to change. 4. Even after I got my letter and my wand, I still sort of doubted it was all real until about a week into my first year. I was a little scared that over the summer between first and second year that something would happen and I wouldn't be allowed back. 5. Whether I play professionally or not, what I really want to do as an adult is start a program that helps muggleborns to continue training and flying over their summers while they are out of school and forbidden to do magic, with camps, enchanted equipment, special areas for flying and things like that. Right now I'm having to figure this all out for myself, and I want it to benefit others eventually.
