PERSONALITY Brother Abe, as he is usually referred to, is a jovial, good natured man. He is the eternal optimist, the kind of person who can find the humor and good in anybody or any situation. He considers himself very much the spiritual shepherd of the survivors at Ashwich. He tries to keep their spirits up, comfort them, and generally keep everybody from being so damned depressed all the time. It makes him feel useful at least.
Abe's sense of humor isn't always appropriate, but he means well with his bad jokes. He very rarely loses his temper and always tries to work out a peaceable solution before resorting to violent. He was a pacifist before the outbreak, the unfortunate circumstances of the events have made that impossible. Abe is a good shot, but he's much more physically fragile than a lot of the younger survivors and doesn't try to keep up. He's much better left behind to protect those who can't do it themselves.
He misses his large family. Many of them moved to Colorado Springs after Katrina, but only Bebe is with him. It's enough for now. He keeps praying for the rest. He prays for everybody. Sometimes, he feels like praying is about all he can do.

Abe always tries to keep the morale up, comfort people and keep them focused on the good in life. He tries hard to be inspiring and positive.

While there are some things Abe finds absolutely inexcusable and wrong, he is pretty much always ready to give people a second chance. Or third. Or fourth. People have taken advantage of his generous nature, but he keeps looking for the best.
Tired old man -
Abe is in his seventies and lived every moment of that. He's still pretty spry, but he has an arthritic knee and doesn't get around as well as he used to. He's more prone to illness and disease as the younger folks.

HISTORY: Abraham Lincoln Robertson was born to Evan and Mae Robertson in Shelbyville, TN. After high school, Abe enlists in the military and is sent to the Vietnam War for two tours of duty. He participated in the March on Washington a few years later, where he met another protestor named Betty Blackwell. They marry and a year later, their first child Billy Ray is born. Inspired by Dr. King, Abe joins the seminary and moves to Chattanooga. While he attends school, their daughter Ella is born. He graduates and begins preaching at a Baptist church. Over the next ten years, the Robertsons are blessed with two more sons, Bobby and Abraham Jr.
Billy Ray gets married and his wife gives birth to a baby girl, Ava. Ella has her first child, 'Little Abe', named after her father of course. Billy Ray and his wife have another child, a little girl they name Diana. The same year Ella has her second boy, Noah. Bobby is deployed into the First Gulf War as well. Unfortunately, he dies in action the next year. Bobby's wife Angela gives birth to a son they name after his father. She moves in with Abe and Betty until she's back on her feet.
More tragedy strikes as daughter Betty is killed in a car accident. Ella names her newborn baby girl for her sister, although the girl is usually called Bebe. Abe Jr. and his wife have a little boy, Mordecai, and Abe's wife Betty is diagnosed with breast cancer. She manages to beat it. Abe Jr and his wife have a couple more babies over the next five years, Marshall and Madeline.
Betty's cancer retuns and this time she doesn't make with. Ava gives birth to her first child, a boy named Leshawn. Depressed from his wife's death and seeing intolerance and bitterness consuming his faith, Abe considers retiring. Instead, a friend tells him of a job at a nondenominational church in Colorado Springs. Although reluctant to leave his family, he hopes the change of scenery will help.
Billy Ray dies of a heart attack the next year. Hurricane Katrina ravages the Southeast and many of his family members are rehomes to Colorado. Abe isn't complaining. Ava gives birth to a little girl, Rawanda. She seeks her grandfather's help when the baby's daddy turns abusive. She moves in and lives with him through the pregnancy and birth of her next child, Latisha. After her new baby daddy abandons her, she moves back in with Abe. Fourth time's lucky and after the birth of her son Marco, his father actually marries her. Abe is happy for her finally finding a good man.
When the R virus breaks out, Abe tries to protect and comfort his family and parishoners as much as he can. Barricaded into the church as the small city around them gets overrun, Abe starts having dreams about a safe place in the mountains. As supplies and hope dwindle, he finally shares these dreams with his flock. To his surprise, several others have also had them. Even though it's a long shot, they decide to try to make a break for this sanctuary. They lose more of theirs than Abe wants to think about during their Exodus, but miraculously, the sanctuary they dreamed about was really there.
Abe settled in and set about doing his best to minister to the new community. He enjoys socializing and helping out the other people in Ashwick. He is always available as an unjudgemental ear or shoulder to cry on.
