Phil has been making his own marionette dolls since he was about ten years old. Shortly after, he started having adventures with the characters that he created in his dreams. This ended up being very beneficial as he grew up and began having very disturbing nightmares. He began to make new marionettes that would be able to help him as the demonic creatures attempted to torture him. Shortly after he turned sixteen, he woke up screaming with a set of parallel razor blade cuts on his wrists. He swore up and down that he didn't do it. He didn't even have access to any sort of blades that could make such cuts. Still, he was sent to the psychiatric hospital as a depressive teenager under suicide watch. It didn't take long for him to realize that he wasn't the only patient there who had been sent under the guise of a suicide attempt. They got together and began talking privately about what had really happened to them, knowing that the doctors wouldn't believe them. Phil and the other would-be Freddy victims bonded. They began strategizing and giving each other ideas on how to survive their dreams that they were being forced to have.
