THE PLAYER
NAME: Saitaina
AGE: 31
AIM: bitternovelist
E-MAIL: saitainam@frontier.com
TIMEZONE: PST

CHARACTERS PLAYED @ COLLIGO: Enigma, Robert Fischer, Doctor Jonathan Crane, Chris Halliwell

THE CHARACTER
FULL NAME: Jeremiah William Crane/Timothy Williams
SERIES/FANDOM: DCU - Batman
AGE: 15
GENDER: Male
SPECIES: Human
SEXUALITY: Homosexual
ALIGNMENT: Morally Grey

PERSONALITY: Jeremiah is not sane. He is developmentally disabled in terms of emotions, reactions and speech. He often comes off as a nine year old child or even younger, reverting in age the more upset or emotional he gets.

On good days, he has a very cheery disposition and bright smile, a bright ball of light and sunshine, always looking for the best in everyone and everything. His kindness is his greatest trait, moving past the shadows of his past to bring hope to everyone he meets that he can.

However, much like his father, he can be manipulative. He's a survivor and will do what it takes to keep surviving. He doesn't do it to be malicious or cruel, but to keep himself safe. Unlike Jonathan however, he doesn't pray on people's fear to twist them around to his desires, but on their emotions and sympathy. He knows he's not okay in the head, and needs friends and companions to help him, and so he will do what he has to, to draw them in...to protect him.

On bad days...he's childlike. More so then his physical age. The nightmares he suffers from the fear toxin still haunt him nightly, taking a toll that even the brain damage can't, and when things are bad, he regresses, curling in upon himself, hiding away from the world that is so full of pain to him. He knows he's not normal and it hurts him, to see others that have such happy, fulfilling lives when he can't.

But he refuses to give into those feelings, preferring to push forward, to live each day as best he can.

He loves, truly, purely and quickly, without reservation or hesitation. It's what gained him his father, the best thing that happened to him and he will never regret anything he does, too full of enjoying every moment, knowing he could have lost it all so easily if his father had just taken a different door in his escape.

HISTORY: Jeremiah was born Timothy Williams, a normal, everyday child growing up in the slums of Gotham City, the only child of a crack addicted prostitute and a minor drug dealer with ties to the mafia, neither of whom had much love for the child, abusing him physically and verbally.

Unfortunately for him, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time one night when he was nine, taking a full brunt of Doctor Jonathan Crane's fear toxin as the Scarecrow attacked a bank.

The boy lay dying in the street when Scarecrow literally tripped over him in his escape, murder and victim coming eye to eye with each other on that cold, dark night.

Jonathan has two rules in his world, one of which is to never harm children, and as he watched the boy choke on his gas, fears clouding around him, he scooped up the child, taking him home with him, kidnapping Jeremiah from the life he had and into a new world of darkness and madness.

It took weeks to fully clear the toxin from Jeremiah's body, leaving the young boy broken mentally, the resulting brain damage creating lifelong effects that he would never recover from. As penance, Jonathan petitioned to adopt the boy after ensuring the boy's parent's were arrested for their crimes, securing custody when Jeremiah was turning eleven.

Jonathan took Jeremiah under his wing, teaching the boy the ways of fear toxin creation, medical science, chemistry, breaking and entering, as well as various other things he thought his son would need.

Since then, the pair had remained inseparable, two little lost boys finding each other in the darkness. Jonathan trained Jeremiah in the ways of his villainous career, but the boy's pure heart keeps him balanced, using the skills his father teaches him to work for what he sees as right, even as he helps Jonathan create madness and fear.

When Jeremiah was twelve, he first joined his father, under the name 'Ragdoll', wearing a costume similar to his father's but with a painted face rather then a mask. Due to Jeremiah's morals, Jonathan refused to kill around his son, instead simply using a low dose of toxin to scare and indulging in his more... homicidal tendencies when his son wasn't around.

Jonathan and Jeremiah spent the next four years knocking over several banks and stores as Scarecrow and Ragdoll while Jeremiah secretly helped his father's victims, sneaking antidotes to the police and information to the Bat Family when he could, balancing out the guilt he felt from helping his father.

ABILITIES: Limited chemistry skills, mostly in regard to fear toxin's creation as well as the creation of a handful of narcotics and legal drugs. Mid level martial arts and gymnastic skills. Mid level skills at thievery and pick-pocketing. Skilled at crafting arts (sewing, knitting, crocheting, etc).

WEAKNESSES: Brain damaged, leaving him emotionally stunted.

His greatest weakness is his father, a man he considers his savior. He will do anything for Jonathan, which often leads him into trouble.

CANON POINT: A little after Jonathan's, so early in the comics/late in the movie (where he's stolen from)

CONNECTIONS TO CANON CHARACTERS: Jonathan Crane's adopted son

WHY HAS YOUR CHARACTER CAUGHT THE EYE OF THE COLLECTOR?: He can hurt Jonathan by his very appearance, also, a broken child who can stir up a bit of fun.

FIRST-PERSON RPG SAMPLE:

I miss him...my father. Our apartment is cold and empty without him, broken...like us. It's always been broken, but when he was here...the cracks were smaller, filling in with the laughter and smiles.

It's too dark at night, too silent. Teddy doesn't like it either, and we lay curled in Papa's bed, waiting for him to come home, but he never does. Doctor Penny says he'll be home soon, that it'll be okay, but even she looks worried as she stars at his desk, the dust gathering on his files.

Papa's not coming home...teddy tells me I'm over reacting, but I can feel it. He's not coming back and I'm scared. I keep dreaming of an old man, reaching out for me, calling to me...

Does he know where Papa is? If I take his hand, can I find him again?

THIRD-PERSON RPG SAMPLE:

"So why do you call Uncle Bruce, Bruce?" Jeremiah asked, setting his ladder next to a tree and climbing halfway up it, snagging a peach and inspecting it before dropping it into the bucket Richard held, reaching for another.

"Because that's his name?" Richard said questioningly, ducking the peach Jeremiah tossed over his shoulder with the word wormy, catching the next one Jeremiah deemed good enough to eat.

"I mean, why don't you call him dad? That's what he is, isn't he? Well, like Dad's my dad, not your actual dad,"

Richard shrugged, and almost missed catching the next two peaches, causing Jeremiah to snicker. "It's never come up...I don't think Bruce cares that much," Richard said softly, staring vacantly at the tree, not really seeing it. "I'm just some kid he picked up at a circus, not like you and Doctor Crane."

Jeremiah paused in his examination of a peach, blinking down at his friend. "Do you miss them? Your mom and dad I mean,"

"Yeah, of course. I miss my dad's laugh most though...some nights, I can still hear it...don't you miss your parents?"

Jeremiah shrugged, dropping the peach. "Not really, they weren't...dad yelled a lot and mom cried and screamed all the time. It's...quieter now, and papa's gentler then they were. He doesn't hit or trip me,"

Richard winced, just imagining the life Jeremiah had before the "Event". "I'm sorry,"

Jeremiah shrugged again, dropping another peach into the bucket. "It's okay, not like we can change it...and if I hadn't had mom and dad for parents, I wouldn't have met Uncle Bruce." Jeremiah smiled at that, a hand going down to the night vision viewer he had strapped to his shorts.

Richard snickered, setting down the full bucket and grabbing another, this time climbing the tree to sit in the crook of the trunk, making the loading easier. "He is kinda cool, isn't he?"

"So are you! I've seen the news reports on the internet! All those flips and the flying, it's amazing to watch you,"

Richard colored faintly, hiding behind the bucket. "S'just what I do," he muttered, embarrassed. He had never really met a Robin fan (though, he knew they existed...some of those girls online were creepy), and thus, was ill-equipped to handle praise...although it felt rather good. "I could teach you some of it, if you wanted, it's not that hard."

"Really?" Jeremiah asked, bouncing so much he almost fell off of the ladder.

"Sure, though we might want to try it on the ground, first," Richard said with a laugh, holding the ladder steady.
