He's almost never without a five o'clock shadow, though he does own a razor, and he keeps his blond hair on the longer side for a guy his age. Having a bit of a James Dean-esque "devil may care" attitude about him, his bright blue eyes and easy smile can draw you in. His face is just starting to betray the fact that he's not as young as he once was, a fact that Jameson will deny should anyone ever ask him about it. Being an undercover cop forces him to stay in shape, not a hard feat considering that he'd always been the athletic type. Being from Atlanta, he has a Southern accent and is damn proud of it, though he tries not to sound like the redneck some might assume he is. His style of dress tends to lean towards the casual, favoring nice dark jeans and button down shirts. Jameson has one leather jacket that he absolutely adores, tailor made for him, and he's almost never without it. In the summer, he might trade the jeans and boots for shorts and Adidas sandals, if he's not working. Should Jameson be undercover, he'll wear whatever the job requires of him. Jameson takes a lot of pride in his job and what he does, and he wants his look to be classic without standing out too much, or drawing suspicion to himself. After all, he never knows who he'll meet next in the line of duty. At the moment, he also has one extra accessory that he's hoping to get rid of soon - a cane. His injured leg is the only remaining physical sign of the trauma he went through a few months ago, in the accident that turned him (unknowingly) into a psychic amplifier. His hope is that, with enough physical therapy, he should be able to walk without it sooner rather than later. Right now, he walks with a bit of a limp even with the cane, and if he's really being stubborn, he can walk without it, just not for long, nor very well. [top] Personality If you're looking for a smooth-talking Southern gentleman who may just have a heart of gold, Jameson's your guy. He knows just what to say to get people to do what he wants, and if you're a criminal, that means he can get you to commit whatever crime he suspects of you - and then be waiting with the handcuffs to drag you back to the station. Jameson gets a thrill out of his job, keeping one more drug dealer off the streets, and he knows that, if his life had taken a different turn, he might have been the one in the cuffs. He remembers what it was like to be young and on the streets, and if he could clean up his act, so can everyone else. This is not to say that Jameson doesn't have problems with authority figures, the police chief will tell you otherwise, but rather that he's learned to skate the fine line between doing his job and still getting his kicks. This isn't to say he doesn't date or that he isn't a one woman kind of guy, because he is. He just has a hard time with the idea of the wife and kids and the white picket fence and seeing himself in that situation. His job is too dangerous, he reasons, and it isn't fair to put anyone else through that kind of stress. That's why Jameson remains unmarried in spite of his age, in spite of what his co-workers and his twin brother Jasper tell him. For now he remains the serial monogamist, but unlikely to put a ring on a girl's finger. There's only one relationship in his recent past where he might have considered it, but last Jameson knew, that woman is long gone out of his life. So he believes, anyway. Jameson is the kind of man who isn't scared of adversity or rising to the challenge. He's faced a lot of tough times in his life and he prides himself on the fact that he always manages to come out on top. Even with the problems he's working through now - in which Jameson fell out a window during a raid gone wrong - he remains generally optimistic about his lot in life. And in those darker moments, that's what the Jim Beam is for. [top] Strengths
Weaknesses
Special Skills/Abilities Being former military and a trained undercover cop, Jameson has, by default, a degree in BadAss Motherfucker-ology from the Jack Bauer University. All jokes aside, he's a good marksman and highly skilled with any manner of automatic weapon. Jameson is also a decent cook, no takeout required here, unless he's feeling really lazy. [top] History Before the Light of May Jameson Alexander McQueen was born seven minutes before his twin, Jasper, to very young parents in one of the poorer neighborhoods in Atlanta, Georgia. Carrie Wells and Ryan McQueen were 17, neither one came from stable families, and they certainly weren't prepared to deal with one child, let alone two. Ryan figured out pretty early that fatherhood wasn't as much fun as cutting class to smoke pot with his friends, and Carrie quickly found herself raising the two boys alone. After the first year, Ryan bailed completely, leaving Georgia behind for the sunny shores of California. Carrie never saw a dime by the way of child support, and though Jameson has a few pictures, he has no memory of his dad. Jameson got Ryan's last name and as far as he's concerned, that's all Ryan McQueen was ever good for. Growing up poor, and in a low-income neighborhood, it didn't take Jameson and Jasper long to figure out what they needed to do to survive. It was all about who you made friends with and what you had to offer them, and it was easy to fall into the wrong crowd. Carrie, dealing with issues of her own, namely a nasty coke habit that took up most of the family's finances, never seemed to notice when her young sons would slip out of the house in the middle of the night. The McQueen twins learned early on in life just how much leeway they had with their mother and what they could get away with - which was pretty much whatever they wanted. There was one rule that never changed: Wherever Jameson went, Jasper followed, and vice versa. Jameson was the louder of the two, the instigator, but Jasper was the schemer, the one who created the plans his brother set in motion. And, when shit went down, like it always did, the two of them faced whatever they had to, together. Usually it ended in a fight of some sort, and it wasn't rare for one or both boys to come home with battle wounds. Carrie, when she noticed what was going on, tried to talk some sense into the two, but she'd never be a good role model for them even if she tried. If Jameson wanted to smoke, drink and party all night, then that was exactly what he was going to do - and his brother was coming with him. By the twins' 18th birthday, they'd already been arrested a handful of times, and how Carrie managed to pay their bail was a miracle in and of itself. Their crimes were never serious, mostly charges for disrupting the peace, disorderly conduct and one assault charge that was dropped (Jameson completely blames Jasper for that one, however, because he started it). When the boys were on a first name basis with the judge, it wasn't a good sign. The McQueen twins were given two options: go to the Army and clean up their act or spend the next few years in prison. Both chose the military. Being in the Army gave Jameson a new perspective on life. For the first time, he had structure and discipline and an authority figure to keep him in line, one he would actually listen to. Though outside of the line of duty, he was still the same fun loving guy who got into trouble in the first place, he knew he couldn't let that bleed into the rest of his life. Having Jasper in the military too, knowing his brother was going through the same transition he was, was a comfort. Both were boys growing into men, under the watchful eye of the US military. By the time the twins' military obligations were fulfilled and they returned to Atlanta, Jameson had a better idea of what he wanted - needed - out of his life. The Army gave him a sense of purpose and direction that he didn't have as a civilian, and the life he led as a teenager wasn't enough for him anymore. He and Jasper always stood up for the underdogs, in their old street fights, after all, and it was with that thought in mind that he talked Jasper into joining him at the police academy. It was an odd feeling, at first, to be on the other side of the law, but it was a cause Jameson believed in. They were doing the right thing, helping people out the way someone should have helped their family. Their mother was still struggling with her addictions, and though Carrie made a point never to tell either of her twins where she was getting the drugs from, it wasn't something that could stay a secret for very long. Nothing Jameson could say or do would get Carrie to stop, so finally the twins intervened, forcing her into rehab. And, in between cases, Jameson made it his mission to take out her drug dealer. If her source was off the streets, then maybe there was a chance Carrie would stay clean. He wasn't dumb - any determined addict could easily find another supplier, but in Jameson's mind, it was a step in the right direction. It took Jameson almost a year to track down the drug dealer, getting what information he could from whoever would talk to him. Asking Carrie to help was out of the question; he feared so much as bringing up the subject would send her right back to the streets, using again. When Jameson finally had enough evidence to arrest "Pauly," as Carrie called him, he considered it a major victory. And, as it turned out, so did the Atlanta Police Department. The case got both Jameson and Jasper (who, of course, helped his twin with the bust) promoted to detective, now working as undercover cops in the city's drug trafficking division. Since that arrest, keeping drug dealers off the street has been one of Jameson's goals in life, and he's damn good at what he does. Jameson always knew of his brother's love for Elsie, and how deep it went; though they talked about it on occasion, even teasing Jasper about it, Jameson knew not to press too much. If it happened, it happened, and good for them. If it didn't, it wasn't like either of the McQueens were hurting for female attention. When Elsie went missing, however, Jameson was a firsthand witness to what it did to Jasper. While Jameson was always there to help Jasper knock back that bottle of booze, he knew it wasn't the best thing for his brother to do. He just didn't know how to help. He kept an ear open for any leads on Elsie, but nothing ever seemed to pop up. It didn't surprise him that Jasper decided to track her down himself. Hell, Jameson was a little surprised that wasn't his first reaction. He was, however, surprised to get that phone call that not only was Jasper in Miami, but had been in a serious car wreck while he was there. Serious as in "we're not sure he's going to make it." Fuck everything else he had going on, Jameson booked his ass down to Florida - and didn't leave for the entire three weeks it took for Jasper to wake up. He'd never had his twin so hurt before and to be honest, Jameson thought it was terrifying. If Jasper didn't make it, he didn't know what he'd do. Though his brother waking up to realize he was now a touch-know? Not what either of them was expecting. Jameson would take it, though. Granted, he needed to remember not to accidently bump into Jasper after the morning after a one night stand, but it wasn't like there was something going in his life that his twin didn't already know. What Jameson knew was that, no matter what it took for Jasper to figure it all out, he had his help. No questions asked. He stayed in Altanta for years, partnered with Jasper on and off when the fact that they were identical twins could be used to their benefit. Jameson earned himself a bit of a reputation, both among the police officers he served with, and also on the streets, with those he was trying to bring to justice. It would do him some good, Jameson decided, to get out of Atlanta for a while. So, when the police in Tifton, GA, was looking for undercover agents to take down a drug trafficking ring in the area, Jameson talked Jasper into making the move with him. The pace of life in Tifton was much different than city life in Atlanta. For the McQueens, the fact that they were identical made it easy to recognize them around town, more so than in the big city. It was here, however, that Jameson met Rebecca Rhodes one night at the local bar. What could have been just a one night stand quickly evolved into something more, and the two started dating in early 2009. Jameson didn't think about his love life much, enjoying the time he and Rebecca spent together, very much in the mindset of, "Whatever happens, happens." He wasn't looking for the love of his life and to his knowledge, neither was Rebecca. He just didn't see a reason why he shouldn't have a good time, even though they were in town specifically for this one bust. With that thought in mind, Jameson really didn't discuss his line of work with her - not that he didn't trust her, but he couldn't afford to have this all blow up in his face. What ended up happening was that Rebecca got pregnant. And the baby was Jameson's. Needless to say, he was more than a little shocked - freaked out is a better description. His own father had never been a part of his life, and he had no idea how to raise a kid, especially one who could turn out to be as irresponsible as he'd been in his youth. Jameson told Rebecca he'd need a few days to himself, and he'd give her a call so they could talk. Was she really going to keep the baby? Was he ready to settle down and have a family of his own, a thought that scared the crap out of him? Mostly, he needed to talk to Jasper, the only one he trusted with his life, to walk him through a situation like this. As it turned out, those conversations, both with Rebecca and Jasper, had to be put on hold. Word came the morning after Jameson found out about the baby - they had a lead in their case, two towns away, and they had to go now. Putting his thoughts aside for the moment, Jameson tried not to be distracted, throwing himself into the job at hand. Only this raid was nowhere near as quick, clean and painless as some of the others had been. Jameson and Jasper tracked the drug lord down to an abandoned factory (someone had watched too many bad action movies, it seemed), going in before their reinforcements arrived, hoping to end the situation peacefully. They had, after all, used every contact and resource they had to make this bust possible. Needless to say, shit hit the fan, and the McQueens found themselves under fire, literally. It looked like they were going to be able to hold out until reinforcements got there - until one of the henchmen went to push Jasper out of a nearby empty window. Looking back, Jameson doesn't remember reacting, just that he was moving, tackling the thug head on. And, instead of Jasper, it was Jameson and the attacker who went out the window - from four stories up. The thug was not so lucky; he died on impact. Jameson, in contrast, was a miracle - though he had massive head injuries and his leg was twisted in such a way that no leg was ever meant to be, he was going to survive. He spent the next week in an induced coma while the swelling in his brain went down and while metal rods were placed in his right leg. And, unbeknownst to him, this accident was what turned him into a psychic amplifier. Jasper never left Jameson's side, not until he woke. Carrie came from Atlanta, too. But there was one person missing - Rebecca. When he was coherent again and resting back at his apartment, Jameson tried to call her, only her cell didn't work, and all traces of the woman were gone. It was literally like she'd disappeared into thin air, taking Jameson's unintentional silence as his way of saying he didn't care about her or the baby. Not knowing what was going on and without a lot of his police resources, being in recovery, he didn't have a way of tracking the woman down until he was better. The few months between that raid and now have not been the easiest for Jameson - lots of physical therapy, basically relearning how to walk again. The fact that he has as much use of his leg as he does, even with the cane, is nothing short of a miracle. And then there's the fact that his head injury did the exact opposite of what it did for Jasper. Instead of giving Jameson a psychic ability, he became an amplifier instead. He hasn't tested this around other psychics other than his twin, and he doesn't mean to make life even more difficult on Jasper, but he is aware that he sends Jasper's clairsentience into overdrive. Making sure his body heals up has taken priority over learning more about what he can do, at least for the time being. Needing a change, somewhere to start over, Jameson decided it was time to leave Georgia for a while, taking a job with the Scarlet Oak PD, and he talked Jasper into making the move with him. His injury is keeping him behind a desk more often than he would like, but he's slowly but surely returning to his usual pace of life. He's also keeping an eye out for Rebecca and any leads to her whereabouts - because if she kept the baby, that's his kid too and he's got a right to know what's going on there. Right now Jameson takes one day at a time, knowing he's damn good at his job and nothing's going to keep him from that. [top] After the Light of May Jameson had no idea the Light of May was coming. It's something that's peaked his curiosity a little, but he's cautious at the same time. Sometimes, it makes him look twice at a crime scene, wondering if there was a supernatural element to it that he just can't spot, being human and all. That aspect of it worries him more than he'll ever tell anyone, besides maybe his brother. Not every crime is supernatural-related, this much is true, and Jameson knows that. As far as individuals are concerned, he doesn't give a damn who is what, not really, and he doesn't pay enough attention to the politics side of the discussion to have much of an opinion either way. [top] Psychic Amplifier ![]() Hey psychics! This guy can spike your powers. More information on psychic amplifiers and their abilities can be found over here. Powers: Jameson increases a psychic's powers just by being in close proximity to them - within 25 feet. [top] Miscellaneous Family & Living Conditions Jasper McQueen - Jameson's identical twin, also an undercover police officer and his closest friend. There is not a thing about Jameson that Jasper doesn't know, mostly because he was probably there when everything happened. Carrie Wells - The twins' mother, a former drug addict who has (mostly) cleaned up her act. Ryan McQueen - The twins' father, the definition of a deadbeat dad. He bailed on Carrie and the boys when they were still babies; Jameson hasn't heard from him since. Jameson has a two-bedroom condo, just purchased and recently renovated. He and Jasper share the place; they wouldn't have it any other way. It's also all on the ground floor, so he doesn't have to deal with stairs while his leg continues to heal.
