He thought it was very strange for a woman to be unmarried at her age, and to never have been married either! Yet, she didn't seem to think anything amiss about that at all. Curiouser and curiouser. She was a very strange bird, that was for sure. Polite though and well mannered. Dar could not fault her for those, nor for having a culture with very different customs either, even if he did not understand them.

"Bazzer insists upon working here in the city," he chatted amicably, "I fear he simply wants to keep me company so I won't be alone, but I don't want him to end up alone either. I'd worry that he was angling for my position, but unlike the humans here, we do not do things by heredity automatically, though it does happen sometimes. He's out of touch with the needs of our people and his brother will most likely take over as ambassador once I finally retire," Dar explained to her, just in case she was looking for a fancy position. "Where that will leave Baz...is unclear at the moment. It really depends on what Baz and his brother decide on."
