If labeled, he’s probably bisexual or pansexual but also demisexual – he doesn’t really feel attraction unless he knows a person. General: Kit is, much like his brother, very much two people at times. Outwardly he seems rather friendly and charismatic, very likeable and easy to trust. This isn’t entirely untrue, honestly. It’s merely that it overlays an individual who is at times rather private, awkward and insecure, probably more so than his brother, even – in large part because of his brother. Growing up in Terence’s shadow was not an easy thing and it shaped him from early on. He was the spare, of course, and nothing he did ever… quite… lived up, it seemed. So while most people come away from Kit with a positive impression, he has his dark side. He doesn’t give much of himself easily. He can very easily be an all or nothing sort of person – and hwen it’s all, it’s a very intense all. More than some people care to handle, whether it’s only friendship or potentially something more. His very few real relationships generally crash and burn because of this all consuming sort of quality he has, though people don’t always realize he holds himself to the same sorts of standards. He can be resentful, petty, and jealous individual at times, prone to fits of brooding and sulking [ and sometimes both at the same time] as well as temper. He’s got a good heart but a vengeful streak as well. But if you can put up with the moodiness and he decides to let ou in, it really is worth the trouble he can be. Because once he does let you in, he’s intensely loyal and very loving. He has a well-crafted image, much like Terence and in the same direction – if only because he always feels an intense need to compete with his brother in almost every regard. Though he loves the arts best of all things, he knows his parents wouldn’t just frown upon that but actively disapprove. So he cuts it toward the middle – he models for his apparent living, selling sex appeal and whatever else is out there on a body he keeps sculpted to die for. It’s scandalous but the playboy lifestyle is more acceptable than the starving artist sort. He’s had this sort of image practically since the beginning of school, knowing he needed to appear to be as good, as friendly, as wonderful as his brother. A lot of stuff about him is almost sleight of hand. He has a reputation as a womanizer and a party boy, but a lot of it is largely false. Most of his fellow models (female ones, at least) know they can depend on him to be the (mostly) sober one they can go home with who won’t take advantage of him. It’s a very well-kept secret that you can go home with Kit Higgs and sleep in a comfortable bed, alone or for a platonic snuggle, and not have to worry about him trying to sex you up or doing something while you’re passed out. He’s the safe boy, the trusted boy, and if you say it was a night of wild fun, he’ll back you up 110%. So his reputation looks well founded, from school onward, but reality has him with rather less than a handful of actual lovers at 30, which is possibly very pathetic, he admits – but possibly only to Logan Wood, if that. He’d probably have to be epically wasted and he’s not sure he’s ever been that drunk in his life. So a lot of things are misdirection with him. Some lying but he more prefers a subtle version of “oh look at that!” and letting people make all sorts of assumptions about him so he doesn’t actually have to do it. Sneaky and underhanded – he really did belong in Slytherin. He’s passionate but only about some things. He has to be interested and that can be a challenge. He didn’t do exceptionally well in school but not because he isn’t smart – he is. But if he doesn’t care, good luck getting him to do it except to please someone he cares about or for some damned good reason. Academically, he liked Charms and Potions best because they were the most pleasing to his ADD and his sense of aesthetics. Plus they work with art best. When he's into something, he's VERY into it. Thus how he ended up with muggle degrees in things. But it's not very focussed sort of intense deal. Hobbies: Sculpting, sketching, painting, acting, running, exercise, some high risk sports type things (that don't involve falling from things) History Childhood: Father – Albert “Bertie” Higgs Mother – Thalia Higgs nee Addington Brother – Terence Albert Higgs His father, Bertie, was very well connected politically and thus Kit was exposed to a lot of influential people in his young life. Honestly, however, he really couldn’t care less about most of it. He only learned to start caring about it when it became apparent that there were times he could use it to his advantage, so his knowledge of the political arena is surprisingly astute and, these days, incredibly sarcastic. He still doesn’t really care especially if it doesn’t actively affect him in some way or another. His parents were the rather absent sort, and the two boys were essentially raised by their nanny, Celestia Hunt, and Kit honestly still considers her one of his very favorite people in the entire world. He visits her far more often than anyone realizes. Growing up, he simultaneously idolized his older brother, Terence, and resented the hell out of him because Terry always got what little praise and attention there was to get from their parents. No matter how well he did, how good he did things, Terry was always there first, already doing it, doing it better, being more charming, more likeable, more everything. He was passionate about Quidditch back then, part of idolizing his brother and partly because it was fun. He went to a Quidditch camp whre he was immediately dubbed “Terence’s little brother,” a sobriquet he most assuredly hates, and once there he met “Oliver’s little brother,” Logan – and the two promptly bonded over their mutual hatred of such labels. Once at Hogwarts, he was as a matter of course sorted into Slytherin, where he was, once again, Terence’s little brother. He managed mostly decent marks in school but had trouble maintaining focus in almost all of them unless he found something particularly interesting. Thus what he retained was rather erratic. He tended to excel in classes requiring multitasking, such as Charms and potions. Things that weren’t creative, like history or astronomy, paled for him. Sometime during the summer after his 3rd year, he was in a bad broom accident that left him in St Mungos for over a week. It wasn’t anyone’s fault, really, it just happened, and afterwards it left him with a rather keen fear of heights and broomsticks that he can mostly pretend isn’t there but honestly he makes up excuses to stay away from flying any more. He’ll do plenty of other stupid, reckless stuff, but not flying. Okay well, sometimes Logan or maybe Terry can get him on a broom but he’s never keen on it at all. He does it to prove to himself and the world that he actually can. Then he goes and drinks himself stupid, now that he’s old enough. He did all right in school, though. He skated under the radar during the war as much as possible, helping friends on the sly as much as possible. Unlike Logan, who was very in your face about it, he did things behind everyone’s back. He was always particularly protective of the outcasts and the shy kids, and he suddenly found himself terribly interested, that year with Umbridge, in healing spells and potions, and he became quite adept. Many of the younger students knew that if they looked for him in this corner of the library or here or there, he’d help them out without asking anything in return other than not telling anyone. Adulthood: After school he left the UK for the continent for a while. Ostensibly he did this to figure out what he wanted to do with a gap year, but also the Ministry had just fallen. Given his interests and all, he thought it for the best, and under the radar as always, he became a point of contact for people, like Logan and others, who smuggled muggleborns and people in trouble out of the country. But he was also doing other things and keeping up a good façade, and he proceeded to become an ongoing disappointment to just about everyone when he seemed to thrive on being a party boy who traveled a lot. His father threatened to cut his inheritance if he didn’t get a job, and Kit ended up in what he called advertising at the time – only to have it blow up later when his family realized he was the model in the advertising. The thing was, though, he made some astounding money at it. He hates it, however, when people suggest it’s because he looks so much like his brother and it’s really his brother’s reputation that sells things, not him. But honestly he makes good money modeling things. The real reason he went to the continent, though, was to gain a bit of distance so he could develop his art skills. He found his preferred media, sculpture, though he still sketches and paints. He just doesn’t show any of it to pretty much anyone in the wizarding world but Logan. Because honestly if modeling is disdained, then his artwork would be downright sneered at by his father, and he really would be cut off – though there are times lately he thinks it would be worth ti. But after some fumbling around, he figured out the paperwork he needed (Thank you, Penelope!) he found himself drawn deeper into the Muggle world of art and even schooling. He’s never been a great fan of school – except for when he’s interested in a subject. And art is one thing he’s passionate about. He found himself a degree program initially in Italy but quickly transferred to a program in France and just sort of started doing it for kicks. Kicks became something more serious as time went on, and he found himself spending more and more time in the muggle world. Most of the time when he went back to the wizarding it was purely for Logan and for Terence. He did return foe the final battle, when he heard, but he spent most of the time playing healer rather than fighting. He doesn't care if he's called a coward for it (okay he actually really really does but he denies ut). He got what is essentially a BA in Paris and mostly moved back to the UK though he travels a lot for the modeling gig. He sort of just fell into a masters program at The University of Glasgow, where he also helped assistant teach certain art history classes (specifically art dating back to before the statute of secrecy, Greek and Roman and mythological sorts of things, Renaissance, all that). He graduated with a masters of letters fine art. Then he found himself in a doctorate program at the University of Edinburgh. He's taken his time with this one, and he teaches a couple of classes, does his modeling when he needs or wants the money, and has focused quite a bit on producing art because he enjoys it. He's focused on sculpture mainly though he still paints. His family and most of his peers think he's still being a playboy and he is mostly content to let that stand, though he's getting really fucking tired of comments like "You're thirty when the fuck are you going to grow up." He should be getting the doctorate later this year if things go according to schedule. About two or three years go some of his work actually became known. He signs it under the name [Christopher Smith? Kit Smith? Jones? Argh]. He worries sometimes that someone might connect the dots between the muggle and magical world but no one has yet. When he has the time (and when he isn't working modeling he does) he tends to help Logan run lines and stuff, since he's a pretty decent actor himself even if that isn't a passion of his. Mostly he does it to be helpful and because he enjoys the time with his bff. He's got a pretty good split of having two lives and sometimes it really gets to him, especially in the wizarding world where he doesn't get as much respect.
