Personality
"A symbol to the nation. A hero to the world. The story of Captain America is one of honor, bravery and sacrifice.”While that description may be true according to everyone in the world, a few people know the real Steve Rogers as quiet, humble almost to a fault and just a kid from Brooklyn. He’s the little guy who was given the opportunity to stand against bullies to protect those who can’t protect themselves. His selflessness and courage in the face of situations impossible for him to win was exactly why he was chosen to receive the super soldier serum. Most men would be tempted to misuse the abilities, even by accident, but not Steve. His hatred of bullies keeps him from becoming one himself.
He is very private, preferring to keep to himself. That isn’t to say he is antisocial. Once he decides to be your friend it sticks. He even went so far as to make a peaceful gesture to Tony after the events of Civil War. Steve firmly disagreed with Tony’s actions, but he understood his motives. Still, he reached out to Tony to offer his help.
Steve has a list of morals that he strictly adheres to. In the modern day he knows they are outdated, therefore he doesn’t try to foster them onto anyone. He does, however, hold himself to their high bar, seeing them as the honorable way to live. There might be a small part of him that hopes his example might inspire someone to old fashioned goodness, but most of him is realistic about that pipedream. And despite how much ribbing he takes for being the boy scout Steve steadfastly holds on to his morals. They were what qualified him to receive the serum and carry the shield. Maintaining them is his way of paying homage to Dr. Erskine, his mother who instilled them in him and Peggy who had admired them even before his change into Captain America.
