Name: Madeline Wright Nicknames: Maddy, Maddy-Mae (only by her father and God help you otherwise) Journal: _smarterthanyou School & Grade: Carmel High, junior. Work: None.
Extra-curriculars: Cheerleading, Student Council, National Honors Society, school newspaper, Yearbook Social Standing: Second in command. Madeline has the good fortune of being best friends with Amberleigh Harrison, who rules the school. That plus her involvement with student council puts her high on the food chain. Birthday & Age: December 16th, 17
Appearance: Madeline is on the smaller side, but no one would dare to call her small. She stands at 5’4” and is thin. She has hazel eyes and brown hair which she either wears straight or wavy, completely dependent on her mood. She has bangs, but they’re easily pushed back into the rest of her hair if she doesn’t feel like dealing with them. Her complexion is fair, and her skin pale. She keeps her makeup natural looking, as she is perfectly content with how pretty she is, and always keeps her look polished.
Madeline prefers skirts over pants and it’s the rare day she could ever be caught wearing jeans. She has her ears pierced, just once in the lobe each, and her belly button as well. She feels naked without jewelry so she always wears at least necklace, and sometimes accompanies it with bracelets and rings.
PB:
Personality: Madeline is loyal and trustworthy, to those she likes that is. On the surface she seems sweet, but she can tear people apart as quick as she can smile at them. Over the years she’s gotten quite good at manipulating the people around her, starting with her family and working onto the teachers and students at school. Because of her demeanor it takes people longer to realize she’s playing them, and in the case of her father they still haven’t figured it out. As if he wasn’t completely willing to give her anything she’s ever wanted, she made sure he would.
She comes off as sweet, to most people, if not a little distant. It isn’t surprising, though, as she immerses herself in her studies, cheerleading, and writing so much. She gets so involved to keep her mind off things, but at the same time to push herself forward. Her ambitions are not far out of reach, but she is more ambitious than most of her peers.
She’s as smart as she is twofaced, a straight A student who is well on her way to being valedictorian should nothing go wrong before commencement next year. Her position on the student council is near and dear to her heart, and she loves the power it brings. After all, what better way to bring down the peons at the school than through governmental measures?
Relationships: Family: Caleb Wright: Madeline’s father, who dotes on her more than any parent should. He’s in his forties, and the CEO of a large corporation. He keeps the family living posh, in the way they’re accustomed.
Emmaline Wright, RIP: Madeline’s mother, who had just turned forty when she passed away due to terminal illness four years ago.
Benjamin Wright: Madeline’s brother, 18, a senior at Carmel High. He’s on the football and baseball teams, doesn’t care much for his sister’s friends, and can’t wait to get out of town. He and Madeline used to be thick as thieves, but they’ve grown apart as they’ve gotten older. They still have their moments, but for the most part don’t get along.
Heathcliff: Madeline’s Shiba Inu, which she’s had for five years. He was a present from her mother, which is one of the many reasons she’s very attached to him.
Killer: Benjamin’s pitbull and a plague to Madeline’s serenity at home. He’s definitely not the best behaved dog, and it’s almost as though Benjamin trained him to annoy her.
Friends: Amberleigh Harrison: Madeline’s best friend, who she met at cheerleading auditions. They bonded immediately and have just grown closer over time, their manipulative strengths working well together.
Phoebe Danvers: Madeline’s other best friend, the one she turns to when she wants someone to bounce ideas off of. She might not be the brightest crayon in the box, but she’s a good friend.
Enemies: Anyone who gets in between her and what she wants.
Other: Background: Madeline was born in Lima, Ohio and has spent her entire life there. Around the time she was born, her father became CEO of his company. Because of this he was not around that much during her childhood, as he managed to take his corporate world to higher levels than it had been before. Her mother took great pleasure in raising her and her brother, giving them a good and fun childhood – though a spoiled one.
She started studying ballet at an early age, and despite her father’s busy work schedule he never missed single recital. A year after she started ballet she also took up gymnastics, and worked at both until her mother fell ill. By the time they caught the cancer, in her mother, it was too late. Three weeks after she entered the hospital, she passed away.
More than anything, Emmaline’s death turned Madeline into the coldhearted, cutthroat girl she is. She couldn’t do anything to control the circumstances that took her mother, so in return she tries to control as much as she can everywhere else in her life. That’s why she involves herself in student council as much as she can, and is on a great track for being president next year. That’s why she associates with the people she does. She loves the control, and the power, and thrives with it.

I practically had to beat some freshman out of my way trying to get to class today. Just who do these little midgets think they are? There may be one or two cute ones, but really… get out of my way. One of them even had the audacity to push me out of the way. The nerve! We’ll see who’s laughing when he gets his study hall privileges taken away.
Cheerleading practice and the paper deadline tonight, and two papers due tomorrow. I need a cappuccino.

There wasn’t much to be said about Wednesdays. They were boring, long, and Madeline’s least favorite day of the week. She could count on one manicured hand how many times something important had happened on a Wednesday. The only interesting thing that she did on the middle day of the week was cheerleading practice – and that wasn’t until after school.
That was why she found herself sitting in the computer lab, waiting for the bell to ring. She’d already finished the article for the school newspaper she’d been assigned and had run out of patience to care about doing any other homework for the time being. Her eyes flitted to the clock on the wall and she sighed, rolling her eyes a little as she turned her attention and gaze back to the task at hand – filing her nails.
