Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Minister Diggory's funeral went smoothly. The Ministry would like to thank the public for their consideration at this time, and for all memorial gifts and flowers that will be displayed around the fountain in the Ministry Atrium and may be added to through the Security Desk. If anyone would like to donate in lieu of a gift or flowers, please make them out to The Hogwarts Fund for Muggleborn Students, Minister Diggory's favoured charity. In this time before term begins, it is certain that they would sincerely appreciate it.

[Private to Ministry employees]
We have increased Ministry-wide security, please be patient with the longer and more involved checks as you leave and enter the building. Also, please present your most professional faces to the crowds in the Atrium paying their respects to the Minister.

There have been many meetings to discuss the temporary election of an Interim Minister. Rest assured someone will be in-charge soon enough.

[Private to Zacharias and Justin]
I think my brain is slowly shutting down. I can't think straight anymore.

We're getting nowhere in the meetings for an acting Minister. No one can come up with a firm suggestion, or people throw their hats in for the position and everyone disagrees. It's an absolute bloody nightmare.

Have you gone home at all? Not that I have. I can't..

We just have to keep trying. We shouldn't rush into anything. Right now, our priority is holding down the fort.

Not really. I went back for some more suits, my assistant didn't have a clue what went with what and the break from the office... helped. But that's about it.

The riots aren't helping. There's too much to get organised and without one person making the final decision anymore, our wheels are just spinning in the mud.

Let me know what else I can do. We've got the funeral behind us, so now it's just holding down the fort politcially.

Honestly, mate, you're doing a good job in what you're doing now. It's like you say; we've just got to keep the Ministry going.

Remember to take a breather now and then. Maybe even sleep if you're really feeling wild.

The couch in my office is comfortable enough, but you wouldn't believe the amount of paperwork and meetings we've got going on right now. Sleep is a nice idea though.

How're you, anyway? Finished all that chocolate?

You're the size of a giant. A couch cannot be comfortable.

I'm fine, a kilo fatter but that's your fault. I might have a few pieces left if you want some. Might help you sleep.

It'll be fine. I could always transfigure it longer or something if I use it.

Get yourself down to the gym. Or come running with me sometime, you'll lose the extra weight in no time. Oh, no than- [...] Actually, yes, please. If you're sure you don't need the last pieces?

It will make your hair flat.

Go running with me and I'll hand over the chocolate. Seems fair. I'll even buy a proper pair of trousers if I get back down to my normal weight.

My hair probably looks terrible, I hadn't even thought of that!

Yeah, that does sound fair. How's Friday? I should have some time by then. Proper trousers? Deal, Spinnet.

Friday it is. Prepare to eat my dust.

Oh, Jesus, don't. Someone would have said something, my assistant or Zach.

I highly doubt it. I may have slacked off recently, and you may be alright in the air, but I am good.

You're sleeping on a couch, they have bigger fish to fry.

You might be adequate but I'm an athlete. These long legs are good for something.

Luckily I have a mirror, this needs sorting out immediately.

Mine are longer. And I'm an athlete! Just not in any maniac wizarding sport. Cricket, rowing, veritable sports they are.

Don't break it!

Pompous cake eater sports. Football, rugby, that's where the excitement is.

Your hair isn't.

Salt of the earth sports. Ones that require the player to sweat and lift their arms over their heads. There is nothing more graceful than a solid kick that sends the ball arching over the goalie and into the net.

Cricket lasts for hours, and the wicket keeper works the entire time when his team is fielding. Crouched down, catching balls at dozens of miles an hour, diving for the wickets before the returning batsman, works up sweat. The bowler too.

How about the grace in falling over every five seconds with 'injuries'? Non-contact sports are just inherently better.

It's more entertaining to watch the grass grow. You almost pray for a grass stain so you have something more to look at.

I beg your pardon? I'm sorry but in a sport with contact there are actual injuries but that is also part of the excitement. All you can hope for with cricket is a broken toe nail.

You've obviously never been good at it then, to have not known a more exciting game.

Actual injuries or diving to the ground in some rubbish attempt at pretending they've been fouled? There's none of that in cricket, just good, honest competition. And cricket can be dangerous; try a cricket ball to the face or rib. I broke my wrist playing once, twisted it just as I caught a ball behind the wickets.

Or maybe it's a boring pointless sport. Rugby and football has more of a following for a reason, love.

You broke your wrist when you twisted around your balls. Sounds like a real man's injury to me. Broke my nose with a quaffle to the face. Needed eight stitches after being tackled to the ground in rugby. Those are battle wounds.

Nah, don't worry about that. Susan Bones sent some the other day, and I've got my assistant to run around for that stuff.

Yeah, I can understand that. It... was a shock, to say the least.
