Stiles nodded. He’d thought it was probably more likely that it was because of Derek’s family more than due to his affluence. His lips curled into a little smile when Derek hissed, knowing exactly what had happened. His own plug was moving too, and Stiles knew it was because he was so wet.
“I love you, too,” Stiles said quietly, shifting himself closer to Derek. He wasn’t as anxious now that he’d been able to look around at the other diners. A lot were older, many with their mates, most with claiming bites on display. Yeah, this was a good date. The most perfect first date.
“I kinda want to have the mac and cheese with Parma ham,” Stiles said softly. It was perhaps the least classy thing on the menu, but it was something Stiles knew he liked. He wasn’t one for fancy eating. It was a good thing Lydia didn’t turn out to be his mate, she’d have hated Stiles’ lack of finesse. But he didn’t even have to worry about Derek. Derek would get him anything he wanted, even if it was something ridiculous like just a bowl of meatballs.
He glanced up at Derek again, closing the menu and settling his gaze on his mate.
“Would you like to look at the wine menu, sir?” One of the waiters appeared, holding out a small card to Derek. Stiles obviously wasn’t going to be drinking, but he asked for some water. He couldn’t tell what the waiter was thinking as he looked at them, but part of him was sure it was about why Derek, delicious beautiful alpha Derek, was on a date here with dumb teenage omega Stiles. The waiter was a beta. Stiles inched closer to Derek.
“What are you having?” He asked Derek, leaning in as the waiter wandered off to get their drinks. “Everyone here is on a date, aren’t they? I hope we’re still coming here when we’re older, looking at new couples-“ he glanced around and caught the eye of an elderly alpha who gave him a gentle smile before resuming the book he was reading. Stiles relaxed even more, leaning in to bump his nose against Derek’s jaw.
