Stiles snorted, because he was pretty sure his dad was a little forceful on the matter, but Derek was a good man, he wouldn't have put up a fight. To have a family home ready or close to it when their first pup was born would be wonderful, though maybe not so realistic. He knew Derek was trying to get things moving, though. That was what was important to Stiles.
Scott still looked a bit uncomfortable, maybe a bit unconvinced about Stiles' words, and Derek's back up of them. They were still young, he didn't get why Stiles would want to go through college pregnant when he could be being a normal college kid, have the experience they all wanted, that Derek had already had.
"I'm going to school around here, too," Stiles added, as though that might soften the blow. Scott had wanted to stay as close as he could so that he could keep learning from Deaton and working at the clinic whilst he studied, and take care of his mom even though both of them had laughed over knowing their absence would probably be the catalyst at getting their parents together. "I'm finishing the applications this week. I'm staying here, Derek has plans, so we'll be close- and I'm sure Derek'll keep this place if you want it? Or you can rent it?" Derek was in the kitchen, making polite amounts of noise, not that Stiles would keep any of this conversation from him. He was pretty sure Derek would offer it properly off his own back without any prompting.
"Yeah, I dunno, you think he'd be a good landlord?" Scott snorted.
"Uh, yeah," Stiles replied with a frown. "He's a good man. I don't know why you don't get that. I don't actually know why you've always been a jerk to him. Even before this," Stiles added quickly, gesturing between himself and Derek. "He's helped us out so much when he didn't need to. He never needed to, we were never his pack, but he's always been there for us."
"And you still don't think it's a little weird he was cool hanging out with teenagers? That he's with you, now? His pack are all our age."
Stiles rolled his eyes so hard it hurt. "Stop being so salty about it, Scott. He hardly hung out with us, he continuously saved our asses and tried to teach you how to be a good wolf. His betas are people that needed him and it just so happens they're all young cos, what'd'you know, being young around here is a complete shit show sometimes. I'm with him, he's my mate, we're gonna have kids. There's nothing you can do to change it. Maybe when you meet your own mate-"
That was a harsh blow and Stiles knew it, but he also knew part of Scott's attitude was because he realised he and Kira weren't mates in the same way. They could be, there was nothing stopping them, but they'd both know there was someone out there in the world who was more to them, more perfect for them. Scott had wanted it as much as Stiles hadn't, and maybe it was unfair that things had gone this way, but it wasn't anyones fault.
Scott nodded his head, scratching the back of his head. "I don't wanna break up with her."
"Shit, Scott," Stiles sighed. "You don't have to, man. Why would you think that? Enjoy your life together until you both know it's reached a natural end. I mean, you get on, you like each other, there's no point ending it just because you're not going to be together forever."
