"I am," Derek said with a little frown. "Or at all." Alpha's pups had to come first, and even wolf packs in the wild usually only had one litter a season to avoid overpopulation. With humans it was different, but he never heard of another pair mating before the alpha and their mate. It could be seen as a challenge to them, and Derek really didn't want to see what instincts he had in response to that.
Nudging his face into the side of Stiles' neck, he simply breathed in and listened. "I don't either, and I'll do what I can to make sure that doesn't happen, but sometimes you have to let -- let people fuck up so they can learn."
Scott had similar instincts to Derek, but not the same experiences. He'd had to learn how to be a werewolf without ever growing up in a pack like Derek had.
He smiled when he felt his mate settle into his frame and simply held him close. "So are you. And a great pack momma," he teased a little. "Love you."
